Chester Spears, ran Ludlow schools

Mr. Spears, who began his career in the Ludlow district as an elementary school principal in the 1940s and ended as superintendent in the 1960s, didn't receive his teaching certificate until he was in his 30s.

He was a soft-spoken, easy-going man who earned his degree from Eastern Kentucky University and his master's degree from the University of Kentucky.
