Myra Hendrickson, joyful mom, youth leader
Myra Allene Hendrickson, of Independence, was a joyful woman who helped children.
Mrs. Hendrickson, an employee of Southern Buff in Independence, was a member of the Community Pentecostal Church in Independence, where she served as a youth leader.
'She liked to have fun. She always had a house full of children,' said her husband of 53 years, Paul Hendrickson.
Mrs. Hendrickson, a native of Harlan County, died at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. She was 70.
Mrs. Hendrickson married
in Harlan County shortly after her husband-to-be returned from the Army after World War II. Mr. Hendrickson said he admired his wife's patience and perseverance.
He said she had an ability to overcome any obstacle.
'I liked the way she treated me. No matter what I had done, she would straighten it out,' said Mr. Hendrickson, who once worked as a coal miner.
Mrs. Hendrickson enjoyed cooking and playing games with children, her husband said.
'They say, "Love don't die.' And mine for her never will,' Mr. Hendrickson said.
Other survivors include her daughters, Judy A. Wolfinbarger of Walton and Linda L. Ruby of Morning View; sons, Paul Hendrickson Jr. of Erlanger and George M. Hendrickson of Burlington; a sister, Shirley Robinson of Crestview Hills; brothers, Brian Peterson of Las Vegas and Grant Saylor Jr. of Loveland, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gathering Place Church, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Zion Christian Academy, 10310 Dixie Highway, Florence, Ky. 41042.
Grete Abercrombie, 70, of Erlanger, died at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a retired housekeeper with L&K Motel, Erlanger.
Survivors include her husband, Virgil Abercrombie; sons, James Abercrombie of Elsmere and Karl Abercrombie of Lexington; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Geneva Lee Allender, 89, of Dillsboro, Ind., formerly of Falmouth, died Wednesday at Dillsboro Health Care Manor. She was a homemaker and a teacher in Pendleton County. She was a member of Falmouth Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. Her husband, Elbert S. 'Butch' Allender, died in 1965.
Survivors include a son, James Allender of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Marcella 'Sally' Noterman Auckland-Feistel, 86, of Cincinnati, died at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Health Care Center in Cincinnati.
Survivors include a daughter, Catherine 'Mimi' Smith of Florence; a son, James Feistel of Ormond Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bellarmine Chapel, Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Bellarmine Chapel. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati. T. P. White & Sons Funeral Home, Cincinnati, is handling arrangements.
Bobby Gene Burdine Sr., 63, of Taylor Mill, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired locomotive engineer with CSX Railroad and L&N Railroad, a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Taylor Mill, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Mae Burdine; a son, Bob Burdine Jr. of Taylor Mill; a daughter, Cenette Burdine of Rochester, N.Y.; a stepson, Frankie Wayne Durham of Berea; his mother, Nora Ellen Burdine of Livingston; brothers, Lloyd Thomas Burdine and Jackie Dean Burdine, both of Livingston; a sister, Katherine Laverna Pridemore of Livingston; two grandchildren and one step-grandchild.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Hettie Crabtree, 81, of Dry Ridge, died Thursday at her home.

Sarah Dowdy, 90, of Covington, died Wednesday at her home. She was a retired seamstress with Rauh Shirt Co. Her husband, James Dowdy, died in 1980.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Sturgeon of Covington; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Albert Garrett, 80, of Manchester, died Wednesday at at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Souder Cemetery, Harrison County. Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry, is handling arrangements.
John Michael Gibson, 58, of Wadmalaw Island, S.C., formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Thursday at Roper Hospital, Charleston, S.C.

Naomi Colvin Gouge, 82, of Crittenden, died Wednesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Violet Ridge Church of Christ, Crittenden. Her husband, Carl Wesley Gouge, died in 1991. A daughter, Rita Eads, died in 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda L. Botkin of Crittenden; sons, Carl L. Hacker of Italy and Larry G. Hacker of Covington; 17 grandchildren and 23 great- grandchildren.

Hal Harlow, 77, of Florence, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired signalman with C&O Railroad, and a member of Pikeville United Methodist Church. He was a member of Thomas C. Cecil Lodge No. 375 F&AM, Lexington Scottish Rite, Oleaka Shrine Temple and the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include sisters, Edna Van Hoose and Lillian Graves, both of Louisa; and a sister-in-law, Marie K. Morgan, with whom he lived.

Katherine M. Fipp Huber, of Los Angeles, formerly of Fort Thomas, died March 13 in Los Angeles. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Scott Huber of Los Angeles; a sister, Elizabeth 'Bettie' Frey of Cincinnati; and one granddaughter.

Helen Marie Jones, 93, of Florence, died Thursday at Woodspoint Geriatric Care Center, Florence.
Her husband, Raymond Jones, died in 1969.
Survivors include sons, Nelson G. Jones and Ronnie M. Jones, both of Florence, and Rudy N. Jones of Delaware; a daughter, Jenny Porter of Cincinnati; a brother, Rev. Charles Ashcraft of Harrison, Ohio; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sara Gartland Konen, of Houston, formerly of Fort Mitchell, died March 17 in Houston.
Survivors include her husband, Harry J. Konen; sons, Harry P. Konen of Huntsville, Texas, Glenn W. Konen of Fort Collins, Colo., Robert C. Konen of Trinity, Texas, James T. Konen and Michael J. Thelma Ledford, 84, of Independence, died Wednesday at her home. She was a retired sales clerk with J. C. Penney department store in Covington, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Latonia. Her husband, Joe Ledford, died in 1985.

Alice Iva Meeks, 87, of Covington, died Wednesday at Mercy Hamilton Hospital, Hamilton, Ohio. She was an employee of Pogue's Department Stores and a member of Latonia Calvary Baptist Church. Her husband, Orville Meeks, died in 1955. A son, Charles Raymond Meeks, died in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Orville Meeks of Hamilton, Ohio; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Sara Virginia Dixon Sayre, 85, of Little Rock, Ark., formerly of Florence, died Wednesday at Presbyterian Village in Little Rock. She was a retired registered nurse and nursing instructor, a past president of the Kentucky Nurses Association, and a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Little Rock. She was a member of the American Nurses Association, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Brady Homemakers Club of Little Rock. Her husband, Francis Johnson Sayre, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Eugene G. Sayre of Little Rock; a daughter, Donna L. Sayre-Snyder of Stafford, Va.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Milton Devell Sizemore, 57, of Dayton, died at 1:38 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a disabled former custodian with St. Bernard Church and School in Dayton, and also worked for Dayton Schools.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Ortlieb Sizemore; daughters, Tina Sydnor of Orlando, Fla., and Charlene Sizemore of Dayton; a son, Devell Sizemore of Burlington; his stepmother, Cora Lee Sizemore of Cincinnati; sisters, Rosemary Grubbs and Norma Sizemore, both of Cincinnati, and Bonnie Picconi of Williamsburg, Va.; brothers, Charles Sizemore, Jimmy Sizemore, Curtis Sizemore and Fred Sizemore, all of Cincinnati; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
