Robert Rauch, avid cook, volunteer
Robert F. Rauch, 72, of Villa Hills, spent the past four years volunteering with the Ambassadors program at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
As an ambassador, Mr. Rauch helped travelers find their way, assisted with baggage, offered advice and gave whatever assistance was needed.
Mr. Rauch and his wife, Jane, decided to become ambassadors because their son worked as a pilot. Mrs. Rauch also had worked at one of the shops at the airport.
The two volunteered once a week and enjoyed the contact with people - something Mr. Rauch missed after officially retiring.
Mr. Rauch died at 9:51 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.
Before he retired, he spent 33 years as a sales manager with F.H. Lawson Co. in Cincinnati, which is now closed, and owned the franchise for the Baskin Robbins ice cream shop in Crescent Springs for 10 years.
Mr. Rauch had a flair for cooking, and he loved music. His taste ranged from old standards to classical to organ music, his wife said.
