Curtis Conley, 75, retired barber
Curtis E. Conley, 75, of Sciotoville, died Sunday, April 2, 1995, at Golden Years Convalescent Center.
Born March 14, 1920 in Flemingsburg, Ky., a son of the late Lonzie Conley and Annie Miller Conley, he was the owner and operator of the Conley’s Barber Shop in Sciotoville until a few months ago when he retired, and an Army veteran.
Preceded in death, Dec. 29, 1982, by his wife, Nellie Mae Conley, who he married
in August 1945 in Scioto County, he is survived by two sons, Terry Conley of Columbus and Steve Conley of Sciotoville; a daughter, Arlenna Conway of Columbus; a brother, William T. Conley of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by five brothers, Kennel, Strother, Talmadge, Ray and Edmond B. Conley and two sisters, Helen Conley and Emma K. Wilson.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Don Wolfe Funeral home in Sciotoville, with Art Marcum, minister officiating, and interment in Sunset Gardens, with military graveside rites by James Dickey Post American Legion.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from an hour before the services Wednesday.

Mrs. Edna Conley
Mrs., Edna Conley, wife of Edward Conley 716 Lakeview, New Boston, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Monday, following an illness of 10 days with pneumonia, which resulted from an attach of Spanish influenza. She was born Aug. 3, 1899, being 19 years of age.
The deceased was a member of the New Boston Baptist church. Besides her husband, Edward Conley, she is survived by one child, two brothers, three sisters and her mother, Mrs. Sherman Brown. No arrangements have been made for the funeral.

Edward Conley
Edward Conley, 58, of Highland Bend, passed away at 10:40 p.m. at the home of a sister, Mrs. Grace Smith, 1514 Fifth st. He suffered a heart ailment.
Mr. Conley was born March 11, 1890 in Greenup County, Ky., a so of Jefferson and Sarah Ratliff Conley.
Surviving are a son, August, 1142 Front st.; a brother, William of Vanceburg, and two other sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Sciotodale and Mrs. Mima Sizemore, 4220 Pine st., New Boston. His wife Edna and a brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Mabert Road Baptist Church with Rev. Hollie Conley in charge. Burial will be in Wheelersburg Cemetery. The body will be at Emrick Funeral Home Tuesday.

FAIRL CONLEY
Fairl Conley, 82, of New Castle and former resident of Carthage, died Saturday, June 30 at the VA Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was born in Lewis County, Ky. on January 9, 1919, a son of the late Huston and Lucy (Butler) Conley.
Mr. Conley was an U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Lewisville Church of God. He was a retired construction worker and had been employed by Hunt Paving of Indianapolis.
On July 27, 1940, he married
Thelma Jane Logan who preceded him in death on August 24, 1994. In 1995, Conley married
Fay Smith who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Brad Conley of Knightstown and Carlos Conley of Olive Hill, Ky.; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
His first wife, six brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.
Services for Mr. Conley were held Tuesday, July 3 at the Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel in Knightstown. Burial was in Carthage Town Cemetery.

Irene K. Conley
Miss Irene Conley, 19, died at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Smith of Dogwood Ridge, [unreadable] Thursday morning. Death was due to complications.
Miss Conley was a member of the senior class of Glenwood high school.
Her father and mother and a sister preceded her in death.

Leck Conley
Ill for some time, Leck Conley, 74 of Dry Run, died at 12:30 Monday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Robert L. Allen, 1906 Charles St.
Born Feb. 24, 1878 at Prestonsburg, Ky., Mrs. Conley was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Conley. On Sept 28, 1903 he was married
to the former Mary Shepherd who preceded him in death 19 years ago.
Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Allen, at whose home he died, Mrs. German Hopkins of Waverly, Mrs. Jack Gregorac of Cleveland, Mrs. Roy Hayslip of Lorain, Mrs. Earl Carman of Cincinnati, Mrs. Ed Gulick of Buena Vista Pk. and Mrs. Clarence Englebrecht, 708 Ninth St.: four sons, William of Newark, Troy of Lorain and Ellis and Arthur, both of Mt. Sterling and 37 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Daehler Funeral Home Rev. Sandy Phillips will officiate and burail will be in Dry Run Cemetery.
The body remains at the funeral home.

Lillian Conley, 76
Lillian Gertrude Shaw Conley, 76, of Wheelersburg, Died Friday, July 16, 1999 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 4, 1922, in Friendship, a daughter of the late William Robert Shaw and Viola Belle Evans Shaw. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Sciotoville.
She was preceded in death Dec. 31, 1995, by her husband, August "Curly" Conley, who she married
June 28, 1941, in Friendship. Surviving are two sons, Jerry Conley of Portsmouth and Ronald Conley of Wheelersburg; five daughters, Linda Strong, Mrs. Kenneth (Dianna) Bostick and Debra Ann Conley, all of Sciotoville, and Mrs. Ellis (Sandra) Bowling and Rebecca Conley, both of Wheelersburg; one stepdaughter, Barbara Conley of Hawaii; one brother, Russell Shaw of McDermott; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by tow stepsons, Buddy and Robert L. Conley.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Don Wolfe Funeral Home in Sciotoville, with the Rev. Willard Morrison officiating, and interment in Memorial Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mary Conley
Death at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday claimed Mrs. Mary Conley, wife of Leck Conley, who passed away at her home on Dry Run following an illness of complications. In addition to her husband, she leaves the following children: Mrs. Luna Hopkins, William Conley of Dry Run, Ellis Conley of Indiana, Anna Conley and Arthur Conley at home. Mrs. Lonnie Rayburn of Second street, Portsmouth, May, Troy, Ethel and Garnet Louise at home. She also leaves the following brothers and sisters; Dave Shepherd of Pond Creek, Mort Shepherd and Lewis Shepherd at home, Mrs. Sallie Howard of Dry Run, Mrs. Lula Collins and Mrs. Queen Arnett of Kentucky.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the home and burial will follow at the Dry Run cemetery under the direction of Lynn.

Mrs. Sarah Conley
Death at 6:20 o'clock Wednesday evening claimed Mrs. Sarah Conley, 68, of 4220 Pine street, New Boston, the final summons coming at Portsmouth General hospital where she underwent an operation after entering as a patient ten days ago.
Mrs. Conley was a native of Floyd county, Ky., a widow of Jefferson Conley, who died 30 years ago. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Louis Sizemore 4220 Pine street, Will Conley, 700 Lakeview avenue, Mrs. Grace Smith, Dogwood Ridge, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, Portsmouth, two brothers, Marion Ratliff, Martin, Ky., Thomas Ratliff, Langley, Ky., and three sisters, Miss Martha Ratliff, Greenup, Mrs. Mary Osborne, Langley, Ky., and Mrs. Nancy Patton, Northern, Ky.
Funeral will be Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock, from Immanuel Baptist Church with burial in Wheelersburg cemetery.

Vanceburg, Ky. -- Services for Mrs. Mary E. Conway, 91, of Lexington, a native of Lewis County, who died Saturday at a Portsmouth, Ohio nursing home, were to be held at 1 p.m. today at Dickerson Funeral Home.
Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas Conway, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ramona Haney of Columbus, Ohio; a half-brother James Stone of Manchester, Ohio and two half sisters, Mrs. Virginia Jones of Manchester and Mrs. Evelene Joslyn of Croza, Va.
Rev. Harley Johnson was to officiate at the services, with interment in Blankenship cemetery at Camp Dix.

Mrs. Bertha Cooper
Wife of Furniture Dealer Dies after Long Illness
Mrs. Bertha Agnes Cooper, 46, wife of Frank Cooper, furniture dealer died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at her home, 302 Court street. She had been bedfast for six moths and her death was attributed to complications.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Greenup on Sept. 14, 1888, a daughter of John and Vina Cremenas. She came to Portsmouth with her family when she was 14 years of age and had lived here since then. She was a member of First Christian church.
She is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. Vina Cremeans, 622 Third Street, and these sisters: Mrs. Mima Price of Belaire, Mich, Mrs. Elmer Bussy of Elyria, O., Mrs. Fletcher Alexander of South Webster, Mrs. King Gregory, 6366 Auburn Ave and Mrs. Charles Hoover, 1633 Third street. A sister and brother preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at First Christian church Thursday at 2:30 p. m. with Rev. Benton R. Miller, pastor, officiating. Internment will be in Greenlawn cemetery under the direction of Windel Howland. The body will remain at the residence until the funeral hour.

Cooper
Frank G. Cooper, 94, of 302 Court St., died Thursday morning at Southern Hills Hospital.
A native of Lewis County, Ky., he was owner and operator of Cooper’s new and Used Furniture Co., and a member of First Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lucy Scott Cooper, a step-daughter, Mrs. Katharine Zimmerman of Piketon Rt. 1; a brother Jerome Webster of Manchester; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Crawford of Manchester, Mrs. Hazel Peterson of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Kathryn Hold of Detroit, Mich., and three grandchildren.
Services are to be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Windel-Howland Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard E. Wilburn officiating. Interment is to be in Bailey’s Chapel cemetery at Wakefield.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight, and from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
