Edward Lee Wright, helped those in need

Edward Lee "Eddie" Wright, a Falmouth tobacco farmer, died Thursday from in juries he suffered in a four-wheeler accident on his farm. He was 46.

Mr. Wright had been driving the four-wheeler Tuesday on a blacktop road between his farms when the vehicle hit a tree, said his wife, Amy. He was found unconscious.

"We don't know what happened," Mrs. Wright said. "Maybe there was a deer there, or maybe he had a heart attack."

He died at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Mr. Wright had grown up on the family farm, where he carried on a tradition of working hard in two fields - tobacco and baseball. He learned to play ball from his father, and he taught his son Phillip the game.

Eddie Wright and his son played on the same softball team - Junior's Boys. Phillip, now 18, was "Junior."

"Eddie was like a father to all of them," said Mrs. Wright.

"He was a hard, hard worker, and he would do anything for anybody.

"If somebody needed some thing, he'd drop everything to help them, whether it meant lending them money, taking them where they needed to go (or) letting them stay here."

He reveled in his children and supported their activities, Mrs. Wright said.

When his daughters were cheerleaders, he and Amy were regulars in the stands, cheering with them, and it wasn't unusual for Mr. Wright to have his grandchildren by his side as he fed the cows or did farm chores, his wife said.

He was a 1969 graduate of Pendleton County High School and a member of Blanket Creek Baptist Church in Pendleton County.

In addition to his wife, survivors include daughters, Shelley Bishop and Sarah Wolfe, both of Falmouth; son, Phillip Wright, at home; his mother, Katherine Wright of Falmouth; brothers, John Wright, Donnie Wright, Teddy Wright and Steve Wright, all of Falmouth; sisters, Connie Ross and Patty Jenkins, both of Falmouth; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Pendleton County.

Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Foundation.

Lula Mae Bowen, 92, of Williamstown, formerly of Fort Wright, died at 11:40 a.m. Thursday at Grant Manor Health Care Center in Williamstown. She was a retired packer for Frank Tea and Spice Co., Cincinnati.

Survivors include a sister, Rose Agnes Bowen of Williamstown.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardnersville Cemetery.

Joseph "Joey" Capibianco, 17, of Independence, died shortly after 1 a.m. Friday in a motorcycle accident. He was a store auditor at Merchant Data Services in Ft. Wright and was a member of the First Church of Christ in Burlington.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Leslie and Andy Wright of Independence; his father, Carmen J. Capibianco of Daytona Beach, Fla.; step-sister Jamey Wright of Demossville; step-brother Timmy Wright of Independence; maternal grand mother and step-grandfather, Mary Lou and Willis Christner of Somerset; paternal grandparents Joe and Barbara Capibianco of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and maternal grandfather William Delaney of Thomasville, Ga.

Services will be at 7 p.m Sunday at the First Church of Christ. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be Monday at the Burlington Cemetery. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is in charge. Memorials may be made to the First Church of Christ Youth Group in Burlington.

Kenneth R. Hartman, 37, of Southgate, died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday at Jewish Hospital in Hamilton County, Ohio. He formerly worked for Erpenbeck Construction Co.

Survivors include sons, Nathaniel Hartman and Joshua Hartman, both of Warsaw; his parents, William and Margaret Kretzmeier Hartman of South gate; a sister, Theresa Hutchins of Oldenburg, Ind.; and brothers, William Hartman of Park Hills and Richard Hartman of Brook field, Wis.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, with prayers at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042; or Lupus Foundation of Kentucky, 1850 Bluegrass Ave., Louisville, Ky. 40215.

Mary Martina Moser Hehman, 81, of Lakeside Park, died Thursday at St. Charles Care Center in Covington. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Gerald J. Hehman, preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Geraldine Joseph of Louisville and Kimberly Scheper of Lake side Park; sons, Roger Hehman of Woodlawn and Kevin Hehman of Louisville; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Memorial Mass will be at 7:30 p.m Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Her body was donated to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimers Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45203. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

George Hensley, 62, of Independence, died at 1:28 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.

Arrangements are pending at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence.

Laura Herald, 74, of Dayton, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday at Grant Manor Nursing Home in Williamstown. She was a retired toy factory worker for Kenner Products, Cincinnati.

Survivors include daughters, Jenny Marsh of Fort Thomas and Lillian Hoskins of Dayton; sons, James G. Herald of Elsmere and Bobby Herald of Lexington; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ever green Cemetery, Southgate.

Jeanne P. James, 79, of Covington, died at 9:25 a.m. Friday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home in Highland Heights. She was a retired bookkeeper for American Book Co., Cincinnati, a retired cook for the rectory at Holy Cross Parish, Latonia, and a member of the Holy Cross Church. Her husband, Harry Anthony James, died in 1995.

Survivors include a son, William H. James of Lakeside Park; a daughter, Jennifer S. Sorrels of West Chester, Ohio; a sister, Margaret H. Sage of Fairfield, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Church. Visitation will be gin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.

Jack Miniard, 34, of Owenton, died Thursday in Sandusky, Ohio. His wife, Dorothy Richey Miniard, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Rebekah Zielski of Sandusky, Ohio; a stepson, Justin Gibson of Florida; his parents, Shade Miniard and Betty Hatfield Miniard of Owenton; brothers, David Miniard and Jeff Miniard, both of Sandusky, Ohio; sisters, Rebecca Baez of Owenton and Judy Frech of Sandusky, Ohio; and one step grandchild.

Services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the family cemetery in Owenton. McDonald Funeral Home, Owenton, is handling arrangements.

Raymond Gordon Neal, 45, of Covington, died at 4:40 a.m. Friday at Heritage Nursing Home in Corbin. He was a retired auto technician for Glenn's Chevron, Covington.

Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Creech of East Bernstadt; stepdaughters, Dolly Neal, Shirley Neal and Susan Neal, all of London; his mother, Jean West of Cincinnati; brothers, Ronald Neal of Covington and Roger Neal of Campbellsburg; sisters, Linda Stackhouse of Logansport, Ind., Robin Collins of Campbellsburg, Debora Perry of Batavia, Ohio, and Karen J. Robinson of Cincinnati; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington.

Ronald Lee North, 58, of Newport, died at 10:58 a.m. Thursday at Gardenview I nursing home in Cincinnati. He was a disabled truck driver and a Marine Corps veteran. His wife, Edna Jones North, preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughters, Carol Hacker and Carmen Hacker, both of Newport; a stepson, Norbert Medley of Latonia; his parents, John and Edith North of St. Petersburg, Fla; a sister, Rosemary Sebree of Texas; and eight grandchildren.

Services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Lillian Hope Richerson, 70, of Crittenden, died Thursday at Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home. She was a retired telephone operator supervisor for Cincinnati Bell, a member of Gardnersville Baptist Church, where she worked with the Women on Mission, the Crittenden Homemakers, and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Survivors include a brother, Joe Richerson of Crittenden; and sisters, Margaret I. Oder of Springfield, Ohio, Gertrude W. Richerson of Crittenden, Bessie Lee Friis of Waterloo, Iowa, and Irene J. Crawley of Cincinnati.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardnersville cemetery in Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to Gardnersville Baptist Church, Ky. 491, Crittenden, Ky. 41030; or Gideons International, P.O. Box 130, Williamstown, Ky. 41097.

Mary H. Skelton, 84, of Newport, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a retired sales clerk for Singer Wallpaper and Paint Co., Hamilton, Ohio, and a member of Newport First Baptist Church. A daughter, Mary Jean Axt, died in 1991.

Survivors include daughters, Glenda Mains of Newport and Victoria Clark of Huntsville, Ala.; a son, Joseph Donald Skelton of Florence; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Evergreen cemetery Mausoleum, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to Newport First Baptist Church, 8 E. York St., Newport, Ky. 41071; or American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Docia Mae Smith, 97, of Cincinnati, died at 10 a.m. Thursday at Clovernook Health Care Pavilion in Cincinnati. She was a missionary for Brethren in Christ Church in Pennsylvania, where she was a member. Her husband, Clarence Smith, died in 1991.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Stotts-Phelps-McQuerry Funeral Home, Columbia. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at Stith Funeral Home, Florence, and from 1 p.m. until time of services Sunday at Stotts-Phelps-McQuerry Funeral Home, Columbia. Burial will be in Columbia. Memorials are suggested to Gideons International Northern Kentucky West Camp, P.O. Box 965, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Rev. Bill Stith, 54, of Covington, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a lay pastor for Beecher Presbyterian Church, Lawrenceburg, Ind., and the former pastor at Belleview Baptist Church, Boone County, and Immanuel Baptist Church, Covington. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Covington.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Letton Stith; daughters, Cindy Stith of San Francisco and Lori Stith of Covington; sons, Al Stith and David Stith, both of Covington; his father, George L. Stith of Fort Thomas; and a sister, Ramona Welch of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church of Covington. The body was donated to the University of Cincinnati Medical School. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church of Covington, 1400 Highland Ave., Covington, Ky. 41011. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
