"Bill' Smith, loved children
H. William "Bill" Smith loved working with children.
Mr. Smith, a physical education teacher at Alexandria Elementary School, coached basketball, volleyball, baseball and track for students in fifth through seventh grades.
"Physical education and sports were his love," said his daughter, Karen Ling of Alexandria. "He was so good with children."
Mr. Smith, 76, of Alexandria, died at 8 a.m. Friday at his home. Mr. Smith also was a school bus driver and retired city clerk for Alexandria. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was active in his community. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Alexandria; Campbell County VFW Post No. 3205; Alexandria Masonic Lodge No. 152; and Super Seniors, Alexandria. He was treasurer for the Alexandria cemetery Board.
Mr. Smith enjoyed playing cards, attending the games of his grandchildren and taking his wife to dinner. He loved being around his family, especially his grandchildren, and often showered family members with gifts.
"Every year, we have a Fourth of July picnic in Owen County with our extended family, and that was one of his favorite things," Mrs. Ling said.
Other survivors include his wife, Eileen Smith; a son, Bill Smith of Alexandria; a daughter, a sister, Elizabeth Schmidt of Melbourne; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Eva Bush, 78, of Taylor Mill, died at 6 a.m. Friday at her residence.

Mary Jean Spangler Cosner, 72, of Newport, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a retired seamstress for Hyde Park Clothing Co., Newport. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Newport. A daughter, Erma Jean Hatfield, died in 1970.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Cosner; a daughter, JoAnn Griffith of Wabash, Ind.; a sister, Erma Sylvia Mallett of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Bernard H. Dedden, 72, of Lexington, Ohio, formerly of Covington, died Friday at MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio. He was retired from the Richland County, Ohio, Treasurer's Department, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Resurrection Church, Lexington, where he served as an usher, and the Richland County Democratic Executive Committee.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Dedden; and a sister, Laverne Keene of Independence.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Resurrection Church, Lexington, Ohio. A second Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mother of God Church, Covington. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Resurrection Church, Lexington, Ohio. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Carol Marie Gosekamp, 75, of Latonia, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence. She was a retired tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service, Covington, and a member of Holy Cross Church, Latonia.
Survivors include her husband, Pete Gosekamp; a son, Mike Gosekamp of Charlestown, N.H.; brothers, James Barhorst of Covington and Vernon Barhorst of Taylor Mill; and three grandchildren.

James Bronson Ingram Jr., 54, of Lexington, formerly of Mt. Olivet, died Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. He was a retired mechanic and a member of Mt. Olivet Christian Church and Masonic Lodge No. 291.
Survivors include a son, David Ingram of Bracken County; daughters, Laura Tolson of Berry, Donna Gilbreath of Lexington, Linda Ingram of Stanton and Lisa Ingram of Morehead; a brother, Jeryl Hester Ingram of Maysville; sisters, Judy Ray and Janie Ingram, both of Lexington; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Robertson County Funeral Home, Mt. Olivet. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Gordon Insko, of Germantown, died Friday at his residence.

Irving Rudolph Nilsen, 89, of Cincinnati, died Thursday at Bethesda Oak Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired district sales manager for Sunkist Growers.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Nilsen of Florence; a daughter, Karen Beaver of Palm Beach, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Marjorie Points Popioleic, 79, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Grant County, died Wednesday in Tulsa.

John H. Roberts Sr., 73, of Burlington, died at 8:34 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a CPA for H&R Block Tax Service and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Musicians Union Local No. 1, Cincinnati.
Survivors include sons, James Roberts of Denver, Michael Roberts of Steamboat Springs, Colo., David Roberts of Burlington and John R. Roberts Jr. of Cincinnati; daughters, Katherine Roberts-Pope of Anchorage, Alaska, and Lisa Mason of Hebron; a brother, Donald Roberts of Glen dale, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.

Robert C. Sparks, 70, of Newport, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was retired metal finisher and a member of Newport Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Sparks; sons, Robert Sparks, Millard Sparks and John Sparks, all of Cincinnati; daughters, Virginia Sue Rose of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Jane Hayes and Marion Brown, both of Cincinnati; a brother, Leon Stamper of Bellevue; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Brenda J. Wallace, 56, of Erlanger, died at 11:15 a.m. Friday at her residence after a long illness. She was a tax examiner for Internal Revenue Service, Covington, and a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church, Gallatin County. Her husband, Garry L. Wallace, died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Joey Lynn Wallace of Covington; a daughter, Jackie M. Hartman of Hebron; sisters, Linda Kinman of Crittenden, Mary Mains of Independence and Regina Sullivan of Maumee, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

William E. Wiglesworth, 46, of Ludlow, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at his residence. He was a maintenance director for E.M. Science Co., Cincinnati. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ludlow, where he was in the men's Sunday school Bible class, and a member of Muskie Ink Fishing Club.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Bender Wiglesworth; a daughter, Tonya Wiglesworth of Ludlow; and a brother, Donald Wiglesworth of Birmingham, Ala.

Henry "Hank" Hayes Wilson, 75, of Fort Thomas, died Thursday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. He was a plant manager for Cincinnati Electronics, both in Cincinnati and in Sonora, Mexico, and a member of the company's SAVE/ACE group. He was the first president of Northern Kentucky Association for the Retard ed and a past president of Kentucky Association of Retarded Children.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Wilson; a son, Thomas M. Wilson of Fort Thomas; daughters, Bonnie Wilson of Bellevue and Judith Wilson of Florence; sisters, Ruth Fausz and Jenetta Kemplin, both of Highland Heights, Norma Levo of Port Charlotte, Fla., Juanita Zion of Williamstown and Irene Ramey of Fort Thomas; a brother, Russell Wilson of Port Charlotte, Fla.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Wanda Lee May Works, 76, of Cynthiana, died Friday. She was a retired employee of Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana, and a member of Cynthiana Christian Church, Women's Fellowship Circle and Harrison County Homemakers. Her husband, Raymond Works Jr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Kellar Works of Cynthiana and Raymond Works III of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Judy Lane of Florence; a sister, Margaret Edester of Lexington; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Oliver R. Zimmerman Sr., 81, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Fort Thomas, died at 9:25 a.m. Thursday at Parkway Regional Medical Center, North Miami Beach, Fla. He was a retired boat captain and a former airplane mechanic for Ford Motor Co.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Zimmerman; sons, Randy Zimmerman of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Richard Zimmerman of Leavenworth, Kan., and Roger Zimmerman of Miami Shores, Fla.; a brother, Ernie Zimmerman of Fort Thomas; and five grandchildren.
