L. Wendell Lucas, ran auction house
L. Wendell "Luke" Lucas Sr. believed in sticking with people and work he enjoyed.
He and his wife, Evelyn Lucas, were married
for 56 years.
He ran the Cincinnati Auction House for 28 years; he was a machine operator for Senco Products for 10 years. He spent most of his life as a member of the Erlanger Lions Club and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
"He never had an enemy. He had a bright smile and laugh that were contagious," said a daughter, Janet Brinkman of Erlanger.
"He was an avid golfer and reader."
Mr. Lucas, 79, of Erlanger, died Friday at Loveland Health Care Center in Loveland, Ohio.
Mr. Lucas was an Army vet-
eran of World War II.
Mr. Lucas and his father ran the Cincinnati Auction House for many years and sold used furniture and pianos.
Mr. Lucas believed in helping others as well as his family, which is why a charitable organization such as the Lions Club was so important to him, his daughter said.
"He was always active in the club," Mrs. Brinkman said. "But he enjoyed nothing more than being with his children and grandchildren."
Other survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Wendell Lucas II of Erlanger; daughters, Jean Ann Carter of Florence, Jean Meredith of Mt. Carmel, Ohio, and Jill Rocke of Lexington; sisters, Emma Lou Lindeman, Mary Jane Yelton and Ruth Milner; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Dorothy Lee Bell, 78, of Florence, died Thursday at Christian Care Center, Florence. She was a retired data processor for the Internal Revenue Service.
Survivors include sons, Gerald W. Bell of Walton and Ronald Bell of Carlisle, Ohio; a daughter, Sue Williams of Dayton, Ohio; brothers, Norman Lillie and Howard Lillie, both of Cincinnati, and Jack Lillie of Mason, Ohio; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Porter cemetery in Scott County. Tucker, Yocum and Wilson Funeral Home, Georgetown, is handling arrangements.
Eugene Burris, 73, of Burlington, died at 12:14 p.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
Arrangements are pending at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence.
LaBlanch Johnson Frazier, 44, of Covington, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Tyrone Johnson of Newport, William Johnson and Robert Johnson of Lexington and Charles Benson of St. Louis; brothers, Frank Johnson of Newport, Gregory Johnson of Cincinnati and James Byee of Covington; sisters, Yvonne Schmidt of Weddington, N.C., Linda Moore of Independence, Virginia Griffith of Cincinnati, Geraldine Lemon of St. Louis, and Maria Jo Rice and Juanona Johnson, both of Covington; her stepmother, Gwendolyn Byee of Covington; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Second Baptist Church, Newport, with visitation from 10 a.m. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati. Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Elsie M. Matchett, 92, of Fort Thomas, died Friday at the Highlands of Fort Thomas Health Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Madison Avenue Christian Church, Covington, and Kenton County Homemakers Association.
Her husband, Roland P. Matchett, died in 1994. A son, Richard L. Matchett, died in 1993. Survivors include a son, John R. "Bob" Matchett of Fort Mitchell; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence, with visitation from 9 a.m. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. George "Mac" McIntyre Jr., 80, of Highland Heights, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired conductor for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Golden Rule Lodge F&AM, Covington; Scottish Rite, Covington, and Newport Elks.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Effie Hanna McIntyre; sons, Bob McIntyre of Fort Thomas and Darryl McIntyre of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter, Toni McIntyre of Largo, Fla.; stepdaughters, Donna Evans of Cincinnati, Carole Diedenhoffer of Greenville, Ohio, and Sue Seiter of Alexandria; stepsons, Rick Estepp of Erlanger and Mike Hanna of Groesbeck, Ohio; a sister, Marg Berens of Covington; and 20 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights, with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Robert Perkins, 66, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at his residence. He worked for the former Fuller Manufacturing Co., Falmouth, and Capco Generator, Covington. He was a member of Sherman Christian Church, Grant County.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Christine Rider Perkins; daughters, Elsie Adams of Vevay, Ind., and Carol Bowling of Bellevue; a son, David Perkins of Warsaw; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with visitation from 10 a.m. Burial will be in Roanoke Cemetery, Pendleton County.
Carol Plumley, 59, of Covington, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a retired nurse's aide for the former St. John's Nursing Home, Covington.
Survivors include a daughter, Tracey Lucas of Owenton; sons, Michael Plumley of Park Hills and Scott Plumley of Covington; sisters, Dorothy Auteri, Nancy Bechtol and Margaret Cruse, all of Bellevue and Joann Clark of Erlanger; brothers, Bud Fowler of Dayton and George Fowler of Fort Thomas; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue, with visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Margaret Rinehard, 86, of Newport, died Friday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Alexandria.
Her husband, Richard E. Rinehard, preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Robert Rinehard of Alexandria; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Daniel J. Shea Jr., 24, of Milwaukee, formerly of Edgewood, died Thursday in Oak Creek, Wis., from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was a mechanic.
Survivors include his parents, Daniel J. and Jacqueline Lentz Shea of Edgewood; and a sister, Kerry Shea of Edgewood.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright, with visitation from 4 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Mary Cecilia Clark Stamper, 65, of Newport, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
Survivors include sons, William Clark of Erlanger and Brian Clark of Newport; daughters, Deborah Howard of Covington and Beverly Walker and Lisa Council of Newport; and 14 grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport, with visitation from 2 p.m. The body will be cremated.

Brother Austin "Aloysius" Velten, O.S.B., 74, of Fort Thomas, died Wednesday at his residence.
He was a maintenance man for the Sisters of Good Shepherd at Pelletier Hall in Fort Thomas.
Survivors include sisters, Mary Margaret Enzweiler of Southgate and Rose Ann Gingerich of Bloomington, Minn.; and brothers, Rev. Robert F. Velten, O.S.B., of Fort Thomas, and Richard J. Velten and Donald E. Velten, both of Cold Spring.

Georgia Resa Whalen, 77, of Cynthiana, died Thursday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana.
She was former owner and operator of Charlie and Georgia's Tavern in Harrison County. She was a member of Colemansville Christian Church, Harrison County.
Her husband, Charles Whalen, died in 1989. Survivors include daughters, Norma Jackson of Cynthiana and Jeanie Fryman of Berry; a son, Charles Pulliam of Berry; a sister, Alma Murphy of Costa Mesa, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild.
