Robert Koelker, fished and hunted
Robert J. Koelker gained a colorful nickname as a small child and carried it throughout his life.
Mr. Koelker, 66, of Edgewood, who was known as "Whistle," died Friday afternoon in the St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
"His father gave him that nickname when he was only about 2 or 3 years old," said Mr. Koelker's sister, Ruth Neubert, of Hamilton, Ohio.
"I'm not sure why he got the name, but people who knew him well, knew him by that way," she said.
Mr. Koelker worked in the warehouse at the Keebler Bakery, Cincinnati. "He worked there about 28 years, and retired four years ago at 62," his sister said.
Mr. Koelker was a member of Dutchman's Rod and Gun Club, Hebron. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, Mrs. Neubert said.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Home-Health Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014; or American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042.
Charles Robert Black, 91, of Warsaw, died Sunday at Gallatin Health Care Center in Warsaw.
Arrangements are pending at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.
Alice M. Brauer, 83, of Florence, died at 9:15 p.m. Friday at Woodspoint Nursing Home in Florence. She was a retired mail clerk with Litton Book Co. in Cincinnati and Florence and was a member of the Altar Society of St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. Her husband, Harold Brauer, died in 1962.
Survivors include sons, Harold Brauer of Amelia, Ohio, and Robert Brauer of Sarasota, Fla.; daughters, Mary Kohorst of Warsaw, Shirley Larkins of Brookville and Barbara Frisby of Burlington; sisters, Marie Barcol of Covington and Betty Eglan of Alexandria; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
H. Craig Bryant, 36, of Newport, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas, after a brief illness. He was a self-employed advertising agent.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Lynn Bryant; a son, Tyler Bryant of Newport; twin daughters Devin Bryant and Kelsey Bryant, both of Newport; his parents, Harold F. Bryant of Somerset and Marjorie Williams of Texas; and brothers, Mark Bryant of Tampa, Fla., and Tracy Bryant of Dunedin, Fla.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at noon. Cremation will be at Cincinnati Cremation Co. Memorials are suggested to Craig Bryant Children's Education Trust Fund, 528 E. Third St., Newport, Ky. 41071.
Eugene Burris, 73, of Burlington, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a truck driver with Martin Marietta.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Arrasmith.
Services were this morning at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Burial was in Burlington Cemetery.
Garlics Lenora Centers, 85, of Florence, died at 7 p.m. Friday at Owenton Manor Nursing Home, Owenton. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Larry L. Centers of Dry Ridge; a daughter, Martha Patterson of Fairfield, Ala.; a brother, Jack Wilson of Jellico, Tenn.; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona, is handling arrangements.
Betty Louise Ehrhardt Coons, 82, of Cincinnati, formerly of Silver Grove, died Thursday at Price Hill Nursing Home in Cincinnati. She was a buyer with Economy Drug Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include a daughter, Theda Josephine Dewey of High Point, Ga.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue, is handling arrangements.
Herman U. Ellison, 85, of Florence, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday at Florence Park Care Center, Burlington. He was a machinist with General Electric and a member of Florence Christian Church and Calloway, Ky., Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Maude Shelley Ellison; a daughter, Ann Howard of Florence, a sister, Norma Jean Rains of Williamsburg; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.
George England, 80, of Mount Vernon, Ill., formerly of Taylor Mill, died Sunday in Mount Vernon.

Andrew Richard Eschenbach, 16, of Fort Mitchell, died Saturday at his residence. He was a junior at Beechwood High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball and was a member of the journalism staff.
Survivors include his parents, Mark R. and Cheryl D. Eschenbach of Fort Mitchell; a sister, Bethany Eschenbach of Fort Mitchell; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Green of Independence.

Matthew David Hatfield, the son of Edward E. and Tammy Hodges Hatfield of Dry Ridge, was stillborn at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
Other survivors include a brother, Anthony Hall of Dry Ridge; a stepbrother, Timothy Hatfield of Florence; a stepsister, Bobbie Jean O'Brien of Warsaw; grandparents, Betty and Dempsey Hodges of Burlington and Clara Marksberry of Florence; and great-grandparents, Selma Setters of Union and Dempsey Hodges of Burlington.

J. Agnes Juelg, 90, of Covington, died at 10:51 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Care Center in Fort Wright. She was a retired employee of the Internal Revenue Service, Cincinnati.
Survivors include a brother, John "Jack" Juelg of Covington; and sisters, Frances Lemmons of Indianapolis, Helen McGrath of Fort Wright and Irene McAndrews of Cincinnati.

Mark Edward Robinson, 29, of Walton, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
Survivors include his parents, Ray and Pat Robinson of Walton; sisters, Cindy Sallee of Erlanger, Tammy Rankin of Florence and Pamela Bixler of Cincinnati; and a grandmother, Mary Hunt of Bridgetown, Ohio.

Ethel Lena Taylor, 94, of Latonia, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a retired seamstress with Loften Garment Co., Cincinnati. Her husband, Jimmy Taylor, died in 1949. A daughter, Betty Toth, died in 1985. A son, John Donald Kuhlman, died in 1971.
Survivors include seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

David Paul Weckbach, 49, of Grants Lick, died Saturday at the Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. He was a housekeeper for the former St. John's Nursing Home, Covington, and a member of Grants Lick Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Victoria "Vicky" Weckbach; a son, Charlie Weckbach of Grants Lick; his mother, Dorothy Weckbach of Grants Lick; brothers, Jerry Weckbach, Jeff Weckbach, Donald Weckbach and Rand Weckbach, all of Alexandria, and Steven Weckbach of Alexandria; sisters, Ella Rose Ivey of Florence, Janet Stewart of Illinois and Sandy Goshorn, Bev Watson and Ginger Murrell, all of Grants Lick; and one grandchild.

Andrew J. Wulfeck Jr., 71, of Cincinnati, formerly of Fort Mitchell, died at 3:34 p.m. Saturday at Hospice of Cincinnati. He owned Appliance Specialist in Cincinnati and was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Helen LeVan Wulfeck, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Dennis W. Wulfeck of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Judith M. Bellissimo of North Bend, Ohio; brothers, James A. Wulfeck of Villa Hills, William M. Wulfeck of Edgewood, Norbert L. Wulfeck of Lakeside Park and Thomas Wulfeck of Fort Mitchell; sisters, Thelma Wulfeck of Fort Mitchell, Grace Talbert, Virginia Mann and Carol Ruwe, all of Fort Wright; and four grandchildren.
