Mary L. Forrest, always there for children, grandchildren
Mary L. Justice Forrest was a quiet woman whose strength lay in her dignity.
Mrs. Forrest, a Grant County native who spent most of her life in Northern Kentucky, was always there for her husband of 54 years, William J. Forrest, her children and her grandchildren.
A daughter, Carolyn Barnett of Florence, said she could always depend on her mother for advice and comfort.
"She was there when my daughter was born. She gave her her first bath," Mrs. Barnett said. "We went to her with daily problems."
Mrs. Forrest, 71, of Covington, died at 11:05 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
She was a homemaker and a member of Madison Avenue Christian Church in Covington.
Mrs. Forrest was an excellent cook and enjoyed reading and crocheting.
"She enjoyed her trips to Florida every year. All of her daughters finished high school, and several of her grandchildren finished college," Mrs. Barnett said. "She loved her babies."
Friday would have been her mother's birthday, said Mrs. Barnett.
Other survivors include daughters, Mary Leinmiller and Cheryl Wyrick, both of Covington, Debbie Brownfield of Crestview Hills and Cindy Nedderman of Fort Thomas; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Madison Avenue Christian Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Madison Avenue Christian Church Book of Remembrance, 1530 Madison Ave., Covington, Ky. 41011. Gerald Robert "G. R." Adams, 70, of Amelia, Ohio, died Monday at Anderson Mercy Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a horseman who owned and raced thoroughbreds at Turfway Park in Florence, River Downs in Cincinnati and Tampa Bay Downs in Tampa, Fla.
Survivors include daughters, Jerry Carney, Susan Maher and Cathy Adams; sons, Douglas Adams, David Adams and Michael Adams; a brother, Eugene Adams; and a sister, Ella Mae Huber. Services will be private. Memorials are suggested to Mercy Hospital Anderson, 7500 State Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45255. E. C. Nurre Funeral Home, Amelia, is handling arrangements.
Jack R. Bowling, 63, of Covington, died Tuesday at his home. He was a production repair worker with Ford Motor Co. and a member of Bradford Masonic Lodge No. 123, Bradford Order of the Eastern Star and the Scottish Rite, Covington. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Janice F. Daniels Bowling; a son, Gary J. Bowling of Covington; a daughter, Janice L. Bowling of Taylor Mill; a sister, Magelene Brewer of Stanton; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Scottish Rite services at 7:30 p.m. and Masonic services at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. John "Pappy" Compton, 77, of Melbourne, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a wheel assembler with Ortner Freight Co., Covington.
Survivors include his wife, Lida Mae Compton; daughters, June Schalk of California, Gay Mitchell of Butler and Joyce Bowling of Melbourne; sons, Larry Compton and Jimmy Compton, both of Melbourne; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery, Carthage.
John David Ehme, 85, of Covington, died at 6:55 p.m. Monday at Columbia Health Care Center, Cincinnati. He was a self-employed maintenance man.
Survivors include a nephew, Ronald G. Ehme of Florence, and several other nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
George England, 80, of Mount Vernon, Ill., formerly of Taylor Mill, died at 2:42 p.m. Sunday at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon. He was a retired floor inspector with Ford Motor Co. in Batavia, Ohio, and a member of Men's Sunday School Class of Latonia Baptist Church. His brother, Willis England, died July 12.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy McNeill England; sons, George W. England of Cincinnati, Jimmie L. England of Louisville and Bill England of Mount Vernon, Ill.; a brother, James England of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Katherine Gardner, 91, of Maysville, died Tuesday at Maysville Extended Care Center. She was a cook with Jolly's Restaurant in Aberdeen, Ohio. Her husband, Charles Gardner, preceded her in death.
Survivors include brothers, Elmo Wallingford of Dover and Cecil Wallingford of Maysville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Olivet Church Cemetery, Maysville.
Harry G. Grimm, 63, of Newport, died Sept. 10 at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a janitor for the Newport Board of Education.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Cullum Grimm; a son, Leroy Grimm of Newport; daughters, Daniese Grimm, Ruth Grimm and Yvonne L. Grimm, all of Newport; a brother, Gene Grimm of Cincinnati; sisters, Gertrude Scarberry of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Ethel Potter of Kentucky; and six grandchildren.

Barbara Schell Hoefinghoff, 61, of Edgewood, died at 5 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a former board member of the Women's Guild at Thomas More College. She was a volunteer with St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood and Southern Hills Life Squad and was a former board member of Junior Board of Crippled Children and the Covington Protestant Children's Home.
Survivors include her husband, Richard G. Hoefinghoff; a son, Richard G. Hoefinghoff Jr. of Taylor Mill; daughters, Schelli Schroder of Morning View and Heather Hoefinghoff, at home; a sister, Toni Schell of Cincinnati; and four grandchildren.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Rosa Ivery, 95, of Covington, died Monday at Unity Care Center, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Second Baptist Church, Newport. She was a former usher and member of the church Missionary Society. Her husband, George Ivery, died in 1985. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Hazel L. Kuhlman, 86, of Newport, died Tuesday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. She was a retired secretary with Western Southern Life Insurance Co.
Survivors include several cousins.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Mary Ann Cooper Luman, 60, of Germantown, died at 6:20 p.m. Monday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. She was a homemaker and attended McKendrie United Methodist Church, Germantown. A son, Terry Dean Luman, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Clifton Luman; daughters, Tammy Dawn Cooper, Shannon Rose Cox of Lexington and Cheryl Earlywine of Carlisle; sons, Clifton Luman Jr. of Mount Olivet and Jeffery Luman of Germantown; sisters, Geneva Gallagher of Brooksville, Ruth Harris of Dover and Jane Luman of Mount Olivet; a brother, Robert Cooper of Germantown; and five grandchildren.

Vera Herbol Rawe, 83, of Largo, Fla., formerly of Campbell County, died Sunday at Sabal Palms in Largo. She was a retired sales clerk with Newberry's Department Store, Cincinnati, and a member of St. Cecilia Church, Clearwater, Fla. Her husband, James G. Rawe, died in 1962.
Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Reinert of Palm Harbor; sons, Harold Rawe of Largo, Fla., James Rawe of Pensacola, Fla., and Michael Rawe of DeBerry, Fla.; a brother, Edward H. Herbol of Fort Wright; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Raymond C. Tucker Sr., 63, of Bromley, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was an airplane mechanic.
Survivors include sons, Raymond Tucker Jr. and Wesley Tucker, both of Bromley; a daughter, Lorrie Calhoun of Covington; a brother, Jimmy Tucker of Shelbyville, Ind.; sisters, Wanda Girdler and Betty Tucker, both of Crescent Springs, Katherine Douglas of Leitchfield and Patsy Spurlin of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
Frances Wintring, 85, of Latonia, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton.

Ricky Shannon Yazell, 33, of Cynthiana, was pronounced dead Monday at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana after a pole he was using struck an electrical line. He was a concrete contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Coffey Yazell; a son, Christopher Scott Yazell; a daughter, Brandi Marie Rayburn; brothers, George Yazell Jr. and Jeff Yazell, both of Corinth, Joe Yazell of Ruddles Mill, Matthew Yazell of Falmouth, Josh Yazell of Cynthiana; and sisters, Rose Hudson of Erlanger, Linda Dalton of Corinth, Sharon Yazell of Crittenden, Jody Martin of Williamstown and Robin Oliver of Independence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at his home on Smalley Branch Road in Cynthiana. Visitation will begin there at noon today. Burial will be in Wagoner's Chapel Cemetery, Cynthiana.
