Joe Follmer, drove school bus
For Joe E. Follmer, driving a bus and entertaining children went hand-in-hand.
Mr. Follmer owned and operated a bus for St. Patrick School in Maysville and also drove many years for Greyhound.
An Army veteran, Mr. Follmer also owned the Hillside Standard station in Maysville.
A niece, Pam Jefferson of Maysville, remembers Mr. Follmer for his many trips driving children to Paramount's Kings Island amusement park in Ohio or to basketball games.
"He adored children and they loved him," Ms. Jefferson said. "He took charge of his bus and the children listened to him. He just had a way with them."
Mr. Follmer, 83, of Maysville, died Tuesday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville.
Mr. Follmer also drove for Mason County Schools and never had an accident.
Ms. Jefferson said her uncle was always alert and enjoyed his work. But he was never too busy to share warm a warm word with an adult or a child, she said.
"He had a great sense of humor," Ms. Jefferson said. "He loved to sit and talk to people."
Other survivors include his wife of 55 years, Stella Follmer; a son, Jim Joe Follmer of Fond du Lac, Wis.; a sister, Mary Jefferson of Washington, Ky.; and one granddaughter.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Church, Maysville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Maysville. Georgia C. Barnes, 88, of Covington, died at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
Arrangements are pending at Connley Bros. Funeral Home, Latonia.
Nellie J. Ewing, 56, of Burlington, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a retired price maintenance worker with Kmart.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Ewing; daughters, Jana Mae Bragg of Detroit, Pam Souther, Maria Ewing and Jessica Ewing, all of Burlington; a sister, Frankie Caudill of Crestview; and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Friday. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati.
Evelyn Florence Finley, 74, of Erlanger, died at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Henry Church in Elsmere and a Women's Air Corps veteran of World War II. Her husband, Charles Kenneth Finley, died in 1969. A daughter, Jennifer Finley Day, died in 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra J. Finley of Erlanger; sons, Kenneth Lane Finley of Richwood and James Charles Finley of Walton; sisters, Alice Jo Hatton and Rosemary Hope, both of Daytona Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Susan G. Reed Flippelli, 35, of Weston, Fla., formerly of Fort Thomas, died Friday in Florida. She was a 911 dispatcher with the Plantation, Fla., Police Department.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Flippelli; a son, Jesse Flippelli, at home; her parents, Donald and Janice Gugel of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a sister, Sarah Reed Rizzari of Boston; a brother, Scott Gugel of Pompano Beach; and grandparents, Sarah Reed of Lexington and Mr. and Mrs. Floyde Freeman of Berea.
Services were Monday at Fred Hunter Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Hollywood, Fla. Burial was in Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Rudolph Fryman, 84, of Burlington, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired farmer and a member of Falmouth Wesleyan Church. Hi wife, Margaret Hooser Fryman, died in 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Eileen Game of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Peach Grove Cemetery, Pendleton County.
Dorothy Justice, 78, of Williamstown, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
Arrangements are pending at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.
Ilene Coleman McKibben, 89, of Brooksville, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker and attended Powersville Baptist Church. Her husband, Clyde Haley McKibben, died in 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Louise Kalb of Brooksville; a sister, Gladys Poe of Brooksville; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Powersville Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville, and at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Eleanor Mospens, 82, of Orange Park, Fla., formerly of Newport, died Sept. 9 at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, John Mospens, died in 1979.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara Fleissner of Cincinnati, Kathy Mospens of Burlington and Deborah Saelinger of Orange Park; a son, John Mospens of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Rose Meirose and Betty Chivas; brothers, Jack Hehmann and Garland Hehmann ; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Riley Munceford Taylor, 55, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday at his home. He was a roofer with Marksberry Roofing Co., a member of American Legion Post No. 137 in Williamstown and an Army veteran.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Taylor of Owenton; his mother, Madlin McIntosh Taylor of Dry Ridge; and a sister, Glenna McComas of Williamstown.

Frances W. Wintring, 85, of Latonia Lakes, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Carroll County Hospital, Carrollton. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Moriah Christian Church, Pendleton County. Her husband, Clifford A. "Bud" Wintring, died Jan. 10.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol W. Bales of Independence; a stepson, David R. Wintring of Fort Wright; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Caldwell of Falmouth; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Friday at Connley Bros. Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Frank J. Wisinski, 76, of Lakeside Park, died Tuesday at Florence Park Care Center, Burlington. He was a retired machinist with Clow Corp. in Melrose Park, Ill., and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella Wisinski; daughters, Geri Snow of Crestview Hills and Arlene Hardwidge of Marietta, Ga.; sisters, Delores Melson Dussault and Virginia Smith, both of Pell Lake, Wis.; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Ralph A. Zimmerman, 86, of Lebanon, Ohio, died Wednesday at Bethesda North Hospital. He was a retired machinist with General Electric, Cincinnati, and a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Newport, and Fellowship Baptist Church, Maineville, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Zimmerman; a son, Wayne Zimmerman of Glencoe; a daughter, JoAnne Russell of Lebanon, Ohio; a brother, Joe Zimmerman of Sanford, Fla.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Radel Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.
