Robert Wiebe, enjoyed ceramics
Robert P. Wiebe of Villa Hills took his responsibilities at home and work seriously, but he had fun indulging his artistic bent after he retired.
"Bob was a good family man from old German stock," said a son-in-law, Bill Hausfeld of Edgewood.
After Mr. Wiebe retired as a section manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield, he and his wife, Rosemary Wiebe, taught ceramics at Senior Services of Northern Kentucky.
"He and his wife were very good at ceramics," Hausfeld said.
"They made ceramic plates, things to hang on the wall and figurines."
Mr. Wiebe died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.
He was 83.
Mr. Wiebe was a native of Cincinnati and owned a grocery store in Ludlow in the early 1950s.
He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Cross Holy Name Society.
Besides his wife, survivors include daughters, Mary Ann Hausfeld of Edgewood, Barbara Wellbrock of Sharonville, Ohio, Peggy Prang of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Denise Akins of Erlanger; sons, Robert Wiebe of Villa Hills and Greg Wiebe of Crescent Springs; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel at Madonna Manor in Villa Hills.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at Madonna Manor.
Burial will be in Mother of God cemetery in Fort Wright.

Randall Euguene Ashcraft, 42, of Bedford, died at 8:29 a.m. Friday at Tri-County Baptist Hospital, La Grange.
He was a laborer and a member of Carrollton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Jean Couch Ashcraft; a daughter, Tiffany Gayle Ashcraft of Bedford; his mother, Donna Hurt of Carrollton; a sister, Wilma Cloyd of Worthville; and brothers, Orville Ashcraft, Ronnie Ashcraft and Steve Ashcraft, all of Carrollton, Freddy Ashcraft of Bedford, Donnie Ashcraft of Clinton, Iowa, Raymond Ashcraft of Masonville, Ohio, and Terry Ashcraft of Georgia.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Carrollton IOOF Cemetery.
Marie Newkirk Britton, 103, of Louisville, formerly of Pendleton County, died at 6:55 a.m. Friday at Meadows East Nursing Home, Louisville.
She was a retired homemaker and a member of Second Twelve Mile Baptist Church, Pendleton County.
Her husband, Willie A. Britton, died in 1967.
Survivors include daughters, Alta R. Rex of Louisville and Esther V. Sutt of Timonium, Md.; a sister, Carrie Bradbury of Peach Grove; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Peach Grove Cemetery, Pendleton County.
William Ray French, 57, of Aberdeen, Ohio, died Friday at his residence.
He was a boiler-maker for Enerfab Inc., Cincinnati, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include a son, Eric Ray French of Cincinnati; his father, Herbert French of Brooksville; brothers, Larry French of Brooksville and Mark French of Batavia, Ohio; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Powersville Cemetery, Brooksville.

Virginia Ann Larkin, 82, of Maysville, died Friday at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.
She was a retired secretary for Downing Insurance, Maysville, and a member of St. Patrick Church, Maysville.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Miriam Michael, 63, of Bromley, died at 12:42 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Swain of Cincinnati; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere-Erlanger.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
John M. Sligar, 78, of Taylor Mill, died at 4:17 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
