Louis Theodore Breuer, always gave helping hand
Louis Theodore Breuer wasn't a traditional "people person."
But anyone who got to know him never had to feel nervous about asking for a favor.
"Once you got to know him, you could see what a sweet man he was," said his wife, Cuba "Penny" Breuer.
"He was always giving to charities. If someone asked for a donation, either in person or on TV, he would always give."
Mr. Breuer, 75, of Elsmere, died Friday at his home.
His first wife, Sybil Marie Breuer, died in 1987. A daughter, Sandra Jo Roark, died in 1984. Mr. Breuer was a retired mailroom cl erk for The Cincinnati Post and Times Star. After he retired, he devoted himself to charity work and the Elsmere Baptist Church.
It was during his work with the Florence Lions Club, where he was once named officer of the year, that he met his second wife, Penny.
"He was just a really nice, down-to-earth guy," his wife said. "He didn't have a lot of hobbies, so he spent most of his time working with all the different charities in the area."
Mr. Breuer frequently could be found do charitable work at the Elsmere Baptist church, where he was a member for more than 30 years, or the Good Faith Masonic Lodge No. 95 in Erlanger, his wife said.
He also was a member of the Ralph Fulton VFW Post No. 6423 in Elsmere.
Other survivors include a daughter, Beverly Jean Lingrosso of Florence; a sister, Margaret Thayer of Deland, Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
Charles William Colemire, 64, of Brooksville, died Friday at his home. He was a construction worker and a member of Assembly of God Church, Brooksville.
A son, Rodger Colemire, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Mary Moore Colemire; sons, Charles Colemire Jr. of Brooksville and Randall Colemire of Berlin; daughters, Garnetta Poe of Alexandria, Wyetta Beagle of Peach Grove and Billie Jo Colemire of Sharpsburg; stepsons, Jimmie Moore, Billy Moore and Rodney Moore Bracken County; stepdaughters, Nancy Brockman and Judy Dugan of Bracken County and Virginia Schwartz of Cynthiana; brothers, R. J. Colemire, Billy Colemire, Kenny Colemire and Garvis Colemire of Bracken County; sisters, Dorothy Anyx of New Richmond, Ohio, and Geneva Williams of Bracken County; 12 grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Robertson County Funeral Home, Mount Olivet. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bracken Memorial Cemetery, Brooksville. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 1 West McDonald Parkway, Maysville, Ky. 41056 or the charity of the donor's choice.
Charlie Dickey, 52, of Elsmere, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a car salesman and a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Melissa Hall Dickey; a daughter, Jessica Renee Dickey, at home; sons, Jason Ross Dickey at home and Michael Ross Sinclair of the state of Washington; his parents, Albert and Zenobia Dickey of Brooksville, Fla.; a sister, Delain Hahn of Indianapolis; and a brother, Ray Dickey of Brooksville, Fla.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Monday. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Dorothy Vail Dilling, 93, of Fort Thomas, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home in Fort Thomas. She was a retired receptionist with Lakeside Place Nursing Home in Highland Heights and a violinist who played with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. She was a member of the Fort Thomas YMCA.
Her husband, Robert Keifer Dilling, died in 1972.
Survivors include daughters, Patty Dobbling of Fort Thomas and Jean McQueen of Ransom Canyon, Texas; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to Carmel Manor Nursing Home, 100 Carmel Manor Road, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.
Josephine Miller Johnson, 89, of Florence, died Thursday at Florence Park Care Center, Burlington. She was a retired employee of Connersville Casket Co., Connersville, Ind., and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Connersville. She was the church organist and a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 346, Past Matrons Club, Informal Study Club and Martha Circle of the First Presbyterian Church.
Her husband, Glen A. Johnson, died in 1983. Survivors include a son, James N. Johnson of Burlington; a grandson and two great-grandsons.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. EDT today at Miller Funeral Home, Connersville, Ind. Visitation will begin there at noon. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery, Connersville. Memorials are suggested to Florence Park Care Center, 6975 Burlington Pike, Burlington, Ky. 41005.
Gwendolyn Myers, 88, of Covington, died Friday at Florence Park Care Center, Burlington. Arrangements are pending at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Florence.
Josephine Byrom Person, 95, of Southern Pines, N.C., formerly of Fort Thomas, died July 3 in Penick Village in Southern Pines. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Fort Thomas, where her husband, Rev. Allen Person, was rector for 30 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn File of Midlothian, Va.; a son, Harmon Person of Edisto Beach, S.C.; a brother, John Byrom of Columbia, Tenn.; five grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
Services were July 7 in Charlotte, N.C., with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Charlotte.

James F. Pruett Jr., 70, of Florence, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a transport operator with Consolidated Freightways and a member of First Church of Christ, Burlington. He was a junior deacon and a member of Walton Masonic Lodge No. 715 F&AM.
A stepson, Guy Wilson, died in 1990. Survivors include his wife, Agnes M. Pruett of Florence; a stepson, Loren "Pete" Wilson of Milford, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Paula Mullins of Florence; sisters, Donnie Fornash of Sparta, Carolyn Kistner of Owenton and Pat Wilhoite of Carrollton; a brother, Johnny Pruett of Florence; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Entombment will be in Floral Hills Mausoleum, Taylor Mill.

Florence F. Firth Scott, 66, of Newport, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna South of Newport; a brother, Frank Firth of Alexandria; sisters, Angie Scott of Augusta and Florence Coolie Smith of Newport; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Cremation Society of Greater Cincinnati is handling arrangements.
Tyler Stephenson, the son of Randy and Vicky Stephenson of Covington, was stillborn at 12:22 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
Other survivors include grandparents, Ralph and Shirley Stephenson of Independence and Robert and Juanita Richardson of Edgewood; and a great-grandmother, Irene Amburgy of Fort Mitchell.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Helen C. Stevens, 64, of Florence, died at 8:50 p.m. Thursday at her home. She was a cashier with Meijer and Wal-mart stores.
Her husband, Richard Yatz Stevens, died in 1989. Survivors include daughters, Darlene Zerhusen of Florence and Shirley Pennington of Falmouth; a son, Richard Bud Stevens of Cincinnati; brothers, Ralph Moore of Florence and Larry Wayne Moore of Gainesville, Fla.; a sister, Brenda Boyles of Suffolk, Va.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger, after visitation at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Eva Noe Waters, 79, of Walton, died Thursday at her home. She was a cook and caretaker and a member of Walton Christian Church. She was a former member of Johnson-McElroy America Legion Auxiliary, the Walton Fireman's Auxiliary, and a Girl Scout leader.
Her husband, Earl Waters, died in 1970. A son, David Waters, died in 1996. Survivors include a son, George Waters of Florence; a daughter, Betty Hensley of Walton; brothers, George Noe of Walton and Robert Noe of Louisville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona.

Marshal Glenn York, 76, of Bromley, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was a Navy veteran.
Survivors include sons, Larry York of Independence and Ray York of Bromley; daughters, Glenna York of Bromley, Joani Schultz of Melbourne, Judy Cooper of Piner and Juanita Rose of Athens, Ala.; stepsons, Charles Garnett of Latonia and Wayne Garrett of Covington; stepdaughters, Jean Sexton of Independence and Janice Sexton of Florence; sisters, Annie Lou Ridgeway of Athens, Ala., Louise Thompson of Anderson, Ala., Nadine Williams of Labelle, Fla., and Carolyn Rose of Athens, Ala.; brothers, Wayne Ridgeway and Dale Ridgeway of Athens, Ala.; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Church of Christ Nicholson, Independence. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
