Bob Curtis, devoted to kids with AIDS
Bob Curtis did everything he could to ease the pain of children with AIDS.
For the last four years, Mr. Curtis raised money, sent Valentines, collected food and helped children in many other ways through For Aids Children Everywhere - known as FACE - of Cincinnati.
"He got really concerned because he always liked children," said his wife, Mary Curtis of Newport.
"He could never do enough to help them."
Mr. Curtis, 70, of Covington, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.
He was a retired retail merchant and a member of the board of directors of FACE.
Mr. Curtis would gather cacti on trips to Oklahoma and sell them in Cincinnati to raise money for FACE.
"He organized fund-raisers. He had cactus sales. He asked everybody if they had any good clothing.
"He was never too busy," Mrs. Curtis said, adding, "FACE was his ruling passion."
Mr. Curtis was born in Oklahoma and moved to Middletown, Ohio, about 50 years ago as a newlywed.
He later moved to Cincinnati, and eventually to Covington.
Other survivors include sons, Robert Curtis of Woodbridge, Va., and Larry Curtis of Moorefield, W.Va.; a daughter, Ellen Daniel of Fort Thomas; brothers, Don Curtis of Norfolk, Va., John Curtis of the state of California, and Arlynn Curtis of Waterloo, Iowa; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport.
Cremation will be at Cremation Society of Greater Cincinnati.

John A. "Jack" Crow, 87, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Covington, died Saturday at Mease Hospital in Dunedin, Fla.
He was a retired sales representative with Coca-Cola Co., Cincinnati, and the Oak Ridge Golf Center in Dunedin.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 746 in Latonia, VFW Post 2473 in Clearwater, and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby E. Crow; a son, Aurther Joseph Crow of Union; a brother, George Francis Crow of Clearwater; sisters, Juanita Flemming McCoy and Winiford McDonald, both of Covington; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sylvan Abbey cemetery Chapel, Clearwater.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, Clearwater.
Burial will be in Sylvan Abbey Cemetery.
Helen Scott, 69, of Alexandria, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Charles Scott, died in 1993.
Survivors include daughters, Charlene Frodge of Walton, Diane Gross of Butler, Linda Cash of Alexandria, Patty Keller of Zephyr Hills, Fla., and Gail Webb and Becky Scott, both of Newport; sons, Allen Scott, Timmy Scott and Kenny Scott, all of Newport; a stepson, Donald Scott of Owenton; sisters, Beaulah Nivar of Dayton, Della Adams of Ludlow, and Pat Bridewell and Jeanie Bigelow, both of Newport; 34 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wilder.
Fannie Wallace, 83, of Falmouth, died Monday at her residence.
Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.
