CG&E's Robert Huesing, St. Paul manager
Robert B. Huesing, who worked 42 years at Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co. and five years as business manager for St. Paul Church in Florence, died Sunday at his Burlington home. He was 66.
He worked his way up the ranks at CG&E from cashier to director of the data-processing department. Even retirement in 1992 did not slow him down, and he took a job handling the finances for his parish.
"He was much loved there," said his wife of 36 years, Nancy L. Huesing. "He's humorous and he's easy to get along with and they all just loved him."
Mr. Huesing grew up in West Covington, the oldest of five children.
He graduated from Covington Catholic High School in the 1950s, and went to Thomas More College to study business.
Mr. Huesing's college stint was interrupted by the Korean War. He served for about three years in the Air Force, stationed in Japan and other countries.
When he returned from the war, Mr. Huesing finished his education at Thomas More and resumed a job he previously held in the cashier's department at CG&E.
"He started out in the cashier department, then went in the service, and when he came back, he went into data processing," his wife said.
Mr. Huesing met his wife at his sister's wed ding. Mrs. Huesing worked with her husband's sister at CG&E. They married
Oct. 14, 1961, and had three children.
The Huesings lived all over Northern Kentucky: They first lived in Fort Mitchell, then moved to Park Hills in the 1960s. Then, they bought their first home in Edgewood, where they lived until 1976.
They built another house in Burlington before moving to Florence in 1992. Later, they returned to Burlington.
Mr. Huesing enjoyed all kinds of sports, including golf, horse racing and baseball.
"Any kind of sports - you name it, he liked it," Mrs. Huesing said.
He also was a member of Knights of Columbus Bishop Carroll Council.
