Dolores Holbrook, helped veterans
Dolores Holbrook never served in the armed forces, but she spent a large part of her adult life dedicated to the organizations that serve veterans.
"They used to go to the veterans homes and play bingo with them, or bring them coffee and cake," said a daughter, Linda Braden of Cincinnati.
Mrs. Holbrook, 70, of Erlanger, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She worked for the Disabled American Veterans in Highland Heights and was a member of the DAV chapter of the American Legion Post No. 203 in Covington, the Ralph Fulton VFW Post No. 6423 in Elsmere and the Ex-Prisoners of War OKI.
"She loved life," Ms. Braden said. "She played bingo, and she liked taking care of her family. She was thoughtful, loving and considerate."
Other survivors include her husband, Dewey Holbrook; sons, Ronald Holbrook and Edward Lee Holbrook, both of Cincinnati; daughter, Wanda Gukeain of Cincinnati; brothers, Billy McMann, James McMann and Bob McMann, all of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Alice McMann and Gracie McMann, both of Dayton, Ohio; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Luther F. Adams, 86, of Williamstown, died Saturday at his home. He was a retired food handler with the dietary department of St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Pendleton County.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jump Adams; brothers, Ray W. Adams of Erlanger and O. James Adams of Highland Heights; sisters, Edith Gastauer of Williamstown, Ethel M. Webster of Williamstown, Aleene Adams of Williamstown and Bessie L. Lovelace of Dry Ridge.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to Mount Carmel Baptist Church, in care of Rev. Ronnie Angell, Route 2, Williamstown, Ky. 41097.
William Layle Gouge, 80, of Crittenden, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a maintenance worker with Grefco, Cincinnati, and a member of Sherman Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Wagner Gouge; sons, Robert E. Gouge, Dennis T. Gouge and Steven Bryan Gouge, all of Crittenden, and Fred William Gouge of Villa Hills; daughters, Kathryn Louise Rider of Dry Ridge, Janice Sue Hutchison of Walton, Linda Gayle Davis of Covington and Pamela E. Gouge of Taylor Mill; stepsons, Jimmie Wagner and David Wagner, both of Crittenden; stepdaughters, Wanda Gouge of Independence, Barbara Rector and Darlene Hutson, both of Crittenden, and Janice Stith of Dry Ridge; a brother, Howard Prentice Gouge of Burlington; sisters, Christine Blackburn and Mary Katherine Worthington, both of Crittenden; 21 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
Randy Hartman, 43, of Covington, died at 8:49 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

John R. Holaday, 81, of Covington, died Sunday at his home.

Ruth Mary Cook Kloenne, 81, of Phoenix, formerly of Newport, died Friday in Phoenix. She was a retired legal secretary with the Campbell County court system. Her husband, Gene Kloenne, died in 1997.
Survivors include sons, Jack Kloenne, Tim Kloenne, Phil Kloenne, Joe Kloenne and Michael Kloenne; a daughter, Mary Pat Kloenne; brothers, Charles Cook and Bob Cook; a sister, Sister Carla Cook, O.S.B; and 13 grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Church, Newport. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.
Sister Jo Anne McMaster, O.P. (Sister Anthony Marie), 60, of Florence, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood, of cancer. She was a teacher and director of the Office of Pastoral Planning for the Diocese of Covington. She was a former director of management/finance and treasurer for St. Catharine Congregation in St. Catharine, Ky., and served as a former business manager and director of student activities with the Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis.
Survivors include a sister, Helen Brandl; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Magdalen Chapel of St. Catharine Motherhouse, St. Catharine. Burial will be St. Catharine Motherhouse Cemetery. Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home, Springfield, is handling arrangements.
Virgle S. Moore, 84, of Newport, died at 7:27 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired overhead crane operator for L. B. Foster Co., Norwood, Ohio. His wife, Lidia Catherine Moore, died in 1991. A son, Danny Dale Moore, and a daughter, Judy Ann Moore, both preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Moore of Newport; a sister, Lucy Page of Covington; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Madie Faulkner Roland, 86, of Williamstown, died Saturday at Grant Manor in Williamstown. She was a retired cafeteria cook with Williamstown Schools. Her husband, Arvel Roland, died in 1976.
Survivors include a son, David D. Roland of Oshkosh, Wis.; a daughter, Shirley Simpson of Williamstown; four grandsons and three great-grandchildren.

Ruth Ann Rowe, 74, of Elsmere, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Irvin J. Jack Rowe; sons, Douglas Rowe of Union, Tom Gatgens of Jacksonville, Tenn., and Gregory Rowe of Florence; daughters, Sheila Rolph of Florence and Sheryl Rychlinski of Cincinnati; brothers, Morton Napier of Georgia and James Napier of Cincinnati; a sister, Naomi Bowling of Loveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Paul S. Snapp, 73, of Fort Thomas, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a millwright and a member of Highland United Methodist Church, Fort Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Snapp; daughters, Darlene McKeehan of Florence, Sandra Trout of Fort Thomas, and Sharon Forman of Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas; sisters, Evelyn Naylor, Hazel Britton and Ann Davis, all of Lexington; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Naomi Weghorn, 98, of Ludlow, died at 6:10 a.m. Sunday at Rosedale Manor, Covington. She was a member of Daughters of America Gem Council No. 65, and West End Civic Club, West Covington. Her husband, George Weghorn, died in 1976.
Survivors include a daughter, June Klinkenbeard of Ludlow; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Denver Cletus Wynn, 87, of Ripley, Ohio, formerly of Covington and Crittenden, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at Ohio Valley Manor Nursing Home, Ripley. He was a retired farmer, a member of Crittenden Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Erma Lee Ashcraft Wynn, died in 1970. A son, Don Wynn, died in 1991.
Survivors include a son, Rev. Larry R. Wynn of Miami, Fla.; a daughter, Helen M. Cummins of Covington; a brother, Kenneth Wynn of Crittenden; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.
Marie Louise Zepf, 83, of Independence, died Saturday at Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati.
