Henry C. Rose, teacher, principal, farmer
Henry C. "H. C." Rose, 83, of Southgate was a career educator who was tough yet understanding.
He was an award-winning farmer, a loving husband who called his wife beautiful each day of their 59-year marriage, and a father who backed up his children 100 percent.
"When I was 12 years old, I wrecked the family car. He said, "I don't know why you are crying. I'm the one who should be crying.' He didn't scold me, but I knew I wouldn't do it again," said a daughter, Barbara Rose Walter of Englewood, Ohio.
"He loved his children, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. And they loved him."

Mr. Rose taught in school districts in Wolfe, Campbell and Pendleton counties. He taught in grades from elementary to high school and also spent a number of years as a principal in both elementary and high schools.
Mrs. Walter was a student of her father's when he taught high school in Falmouth.
"I always got an A-minus. He said I could always do better," Mrs. Walter said. "He was an excellent teacher and philosopher.
"As long as we had Dad, we had 100 percent support," Mrs. Walter said. "That doesn't mean he agreed with everything we did. But we knew he would be there for us."
