Watt Mosely, machinist, proud veteran
Watt Mosley didn't tell jokes, but he enjoyed a good laugh.
"He just had snappy comebacks for a lot of things," said one of his daughters, Gail Emerson of Florence. "He had a great sense of humor."
Mr. Mosley, 81, of Petersburg, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was a retired machinist for J.H. Day Co., Boone County, and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
"He was always extremely proud of his military service," Mrs. Emerson said.
Mr. Mosley was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed history books and books by Kentucky authors.
He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Mosley of Petersburg; other daughters, Patricia Rice of Florence, Bennie Hoppius of Petersburg, Sharon Smith of Glencoe and Jamie Bozeman of Burlington; sisters, Alta Houts of Crab Orchard and Viola Roberts of West Carrollton, Ohio; a brother, Pearl Mosley of Dayton, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington, with visitation from 1 p.m. Burial will be in Belleview Baptist Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to any American veteran association.
Lena Calloway, 77, of Pendleton County, died Friday at Parkway Medical Center, Louisville.
Arrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.
Henry "Ric" Cesar Colomb, 78, of Elsmere, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice, Covington. He was a retired sanitary engineer for Carlgen Inc. and a member of Gloria Dei Seniors.
Survivors include his wife, Leona Colomb of Elsmere; daughters, Linda Harris of Warsaw and Susan Matthews of Florence; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Crestview Hills. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Building Fund, 2718 Dixie Highway, Crestview Hills, Ky. 41017; or St. Elizabeth Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.
Elizabeth Barlow Dent, 89, of New Jersey, formerly of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House, N.J. She was a retired teacher and a member of First United Methodist Church, Cynthiana; National Education Association; Kentucky Retired Teachers Association; and Woman's Club of Harrison County. She was a former member of Northside Homemakers; Harrison Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Cynthiana; and Harrison County Retired Teachers Association. Her husband, Neal Dent, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Dantuono of Ocean View, N.J.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana, with visitation at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana.
Wilma Jean Douglas, 67, of Covington, died at 8:55 p.m. Thursday at Hospice of Louisville. She was a retired accounting clerk for Coca-Cola Co. Her husband, William E. Douglas, died in 1994.
Survivors include sons, Don Douglas of Louisville and Robert Douglas of Erlanger; daughters, Jenny Douglas and Sandy Douglas, both of Covington; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington, with visitation from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Leola Fisler, 94, of Latonia, died at 10:40 p.m. at Rosedale Manor, Covington. She was a retired clerk for Cincinnati Gas and Electric and a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Clayton, N.J. Her husband, Louis Fisler, died in 1953.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Spoonamore of Latonia.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia, with visitation from 5:30 p.m. Burial will be in Cedar Green Cemetery, Clayton, N.J. Memorials are suggested to New Beginning Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 3830 Narrows Road, Erlanger, Ky. 41018.
Herbert Lee Gilbert, 36, of Covington, died Friday of natural causes at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was an office worker for Renters Choice in Covington.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; daughters, Avalene Gilbert, Amanda Gilbert, Destiny Gilbert, Nichole Gilbert, all at home, Kelly Gilbert and Danielle Gilbert, both of Covington; sons, Anthony Gilbert at home and Jeremy Gilbert of Covington; parents, Herbert and Janet Gilbert of Silver Grove; brothers, Ernie Gilbert of Bellevue, Robert Gilbert of Covington, Ronnie Gilbert of Erlanger, Ryan Gilbert of Silver Grove and Jerry Gilbert of Silver Grove; and a sister, Marsha Brown of Erlanger.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, with visitation from 1 p.m. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick.
Evalene Stephens Hall, 93, of Covington, died at 12:10 p.m. Thursday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. She was a retired sales demonstrator for Stanley Home Products Co. and a member of First Baptist Church of Covington.
Survivors include sons, Leroy Hall of Covington and David S. Hall of Reading, Ohio; daughters, Margaret Sue Hall of Covington and Betty Lou Wingate of Withamsville, Ohio; a sister, Zelma Lee Akin of Burlington; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington, with visitation from 10 a.m. Burial will be in Burlington Cemetery. Alean Howard, 75, of Berry, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry.
Rachel Long, 89, of Latonia, died at 2:10 p.m. Friday at Rosedale Manor, Covington. She was a former waitress for Carrs Restaurant, Covington, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Covington. Her husband, William Bernard Long, died in 1983.
Survivors include sons, Gene Long of Walton and Bob Long of Florida; sisters, Mary Edgington of Hamilton, Ohio, and L.C. Hampton of Latonia; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia, with visitation from 10 a.m. Burial will be in East Bend Bottoms Cemetery, Union.
Billie K. Campbell Luchini, 64, of Hebron, Conn., formerly of Covington, died Tuesday at University of Connecticut Medical Center, Farmington, Conn. She was a homemaker and a Woman's Army Corps veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Luchini; a daughter, Patricia Lacasse of Southbridge, Mass.; a son, Charles Luchini Jr. of Worcester, Mass.; a brother, John S. Campbell of Florida; and one grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Maurice Church, Bolton, Conn., with prayer service at 9:45 a.m. today at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, Manchester, Conn. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Manchester, Conn.
Anna Mae Ruck, 81, of Fort Thomas, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Anthony Church, Bellevue; Sacred Heart Knights of St. John; Bellevue-Dayton Seniors; Northern Kentucky Guild for the Retarded; St. Anthony Alter Society; and Sacred Heart Church Christian Mothers.
Her husband, Charles R. Ruck, died in 1968. A son, John Ruck, died in 1993. Survivors include sons, Robert C. Ruck of Southgate and Daniel J. Ruck of Bellevue; a daughter, Charlene Wray of Crestview Hills; brothers, William O'Hara and Ray O'Hara, both of Bellevue; sisters, Ella Wormald of Bellevue and Margaret Tibbs of Highland Heights; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Church, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. J.T. Slusher, 68, of Florence, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. Arrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick.
Alberta Marie Smith, 79, formerly of Boone County, died Thursday at Batavia Nursing Home, Batavia, Ohio. She was a retired assembly line worker for Seagram's Distillery, Lawrenceburg, Ind., and a member of Petersburg Christian Church.
Her husband, Russell Smith, died in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Sergent of Cincinnati; sisters, Ida Mae Deck of Petersburg and Lujean Collier of Covington; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron, with visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and burial in Belleview Cemetery.
James E. Still, 80, of Dayton, died Thursday at his home.
Arrangements are pending at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue.
