Williamstown grocer Donna Sue Neal, loved family, crafts, needy children
Donna Sue Anderson Neal helped feed a town and made a lot of friends along the way.
A Kenton County native, Mrs. Neal moved to Williamstown and ran Neal's Grocery Store. She and her husband Jerry A. Neal owned the family business.
"It was just a small, little-town mom-and-pop grocery store. It was a lot of work, but she enjoyed it," her husband said. "She made a lot of friends in the business."
Mrs. Neal, 54, died Tuesday at her home. She retired from the grocery store and was a homemaker and member of Williamstown Christian Church.
Mr. Neal said his wife nurtured any children in need. The couple unofficially adopted a girl.
"She just always took the kids in when they needed some place to go," Mr. Neal said.
Mrs. Neal loved to crochet, creating blankets and covers for items all over her own house and giving away many of her creations to friends and family, her husband said.
The Neals were married
for 38 years.
Other survivors include sons, Tony Neal and Greg Neal, both of Williamstown; daughters, Joy Beth Phipps of Crittenden and Tara Lee Greis of Florence; her mother, Gladie Justice Anderson of Williamstown; sisters, Priscilla Losey of Walton, Faye Richardson of Taylor Mill, Judy Jones of Covington and Tanya Hartke of Villa Hills; brothers, Andy Anderson of Covington, George Anderson of Walton, Ray Anderson of Union and Homer Anderson of Dry Ridge; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crittenden Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to National Crohn's Disease Foundation, 2139 Auburn Ave., Cincinnati, 45219.
Dorothy Atha, 67, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
Arrangements are pending at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Walton.
Robert Budde, 77, of Covington, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.
Arrangements are pending at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington.
Lillian E. Duncan, 80, of Covington, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a retired housekeeper for St. Elizabeth Medical Center North. Her husband, Emeard Duncan, died in 1948.
Survivors include sons, Herbert Duncan of Covington and Jack Duncan of Brookville, Ind.; a brother, Roy Yoakley of Covington; sisters, Myrtle Robertson of Covington, and Mary Deuring and Carol Marshall, both of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.

Agnes Kyle, 88, of Lakewood Ohio, formerly of Covington, died Wednesday at Lakewood Hospital in Lakewood.

Gertrude Lacefield, 77, of Ghent, died Wednesday at Corbin Baptist Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Ghent Christian Church. Her husband, Bernard Lacefield, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Culver of Ghent; a son, James Lacefield of Corbin; a sister, Callie Meadows of Carrollton; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ghent Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton.
Edna Myers, 88, of Covington, died June 2 at Fountain Care Hospital, Orange County, Calif. She was a retired Thompson-Coke Advertising worker in Orange County, and a member of First Baptist Church of Covington.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Morsch of Palm Desert, Calif.; a sister, Blanche Kuhn of Covington; a brother, Charles Clinkinbeard of Covington; three grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
Memorial services will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen cemetery Chapel, Southgate. Radel Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.
Nancy Anne Roberts, 66, of Florence, died Tuesday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. She was an accounting secretary with Arthur Andersen, Florence.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Roberts of Florence; and a brother, Hugh Buddy Roberts of Memphis, Tenn.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
Willis "Gene" Robinson, 62, of Bellevue, died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday at his home. He was a retired maintenance supervisor with Precision Packaging, a member of Kelly Furnish VFW Post No. 7099 in Covington, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Martin Robinson; sons, Gary Robinson of Bellevue and Rob Robinson of Wilder; a daughter, Jacquelyn Feldman of Bellevue; brothers, Kenneth Robinson of Dayton, Terry Robinson of Bellevue and Edward Robinson of Cincinnati; sisters, Geraldine Russell of Livingston, Joyce Vinson of Ft. Thomas, Shirley McPherson of Knoxville, Tenn., Ann Moahabee of Elsmere and Brenda Watton; six grandchildren and one great- grandchild.

Charles "Bud" Schaefer, 76, of Dayton, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas.
He was a retired shop foreman with Avco International, Cincinnati, and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Schmidt Schaefer; daughters, Delores Stuttler of Cold Spring and Marlene Joyce Root of Bellevue; a sister, Bernice Schaefer of Sarasota, Fla.; a half-sister, Marie Lange of San Diego; 13 grandchildren and 24 great- grandchildren.

Thelma L. Thomas, 86, of Crittenden, died at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday at a niece's home in Crittenden. She was a member of Walton Street Baptist Church, Owensboro. Her husband, Frank B. Thomas, died in 1997.
Survivors include brothers, Henry Griffith and George Griffith, both of Covington.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. CDT Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery, Owensboro. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Kaitlyn Hayley Witt and Dakota Scott Witt, the children of Bryan and Tracy Witt of Covington, were stillborn Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.
Other survivors include grandparents, Margaret Witt of Independence, and Herbert and Helen Cummins of Covington.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington. Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
