Robert Budde of Covington, shared optimism with others
Robert Budde took the time in life to enjoy simple pleasures.
He enjoyed Big Band music. He had a passion for the Cincinnati Reds. And he could tell a joke or two.
"He was the sweetest, kindest, gentlest person I have ever known," said a niece, Marsha Graue of Covington, who took care of Mr. Budde.
"He never complained."
Mr. Budde, 77, of Covington, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Baptist Conva lescent Center, Newport. He was a retired meat cutter with Kroger's and a member of St. Augustine Pathfinders, Holy Name Society and Knights of Co lumbus. He also was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Viola Budde, died in 1987.
Mr. Budde, a native of Northern Kentucky, had a sunny attitude that was infectious, his niece said.
"He was a very gentle soul. He had a dry wit," Ms. Graue said.
Other survivors include a sister, Ruth Graue of Ft. Wright.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Church, Covington. Visitation will be gin there at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Ft. Wright. Arrangements are through Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington.
Dorothy Atha, 67, of Dry Ridge, died at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood, after an extended illness. She was a homemaker and a member of Elliston Baptist Church, Grant County.
Survivors include her husband, Larry M. Atha; sons, Ronald W. Atha of Dry Ridge and Dennis M. Atha of Verona; a daughter, Donna Jean Carnes of Dry Ridge; brothers, Donald Brashear and Steve Brashear, both of Warsaw; a sister, JoAnn Peace of Glencoe; and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Napoleon IOOF Cemetery, Gallatin County. Memorials are suggested to Elliston Baptist Church, Dry Ridge, Ky. 41035.
Francis W. Carter, 90, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Dayton, died Tuesday at Skyline Manor in Omaha. He was a retired postal supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service, and a member of Calvary Tower United Methodist Church in Bellevue and Henry Barnes Masonic Lodge No. 607, Dayton. His wives, Mildred Blackburn Carter and Ida Wetzel Wessling Carter, both preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, G. Richard Carter of Omaha; a daughter, Patricia Weiss of Jersey City, N.J.; a brother, Richard Carter of Hudson, Fla.; a sister, Ellen Schloss of Claremont, Calif.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery, New Castle, Ind. Memorials are suggested to Calvary Tower United Methodist Church, 210 Poplar St., Bellevue, Ky. 41073.
Brittany Haubner, 8 weeks, of Falmouth, died Thursday at her home.
Survivors include her parents, Roger and Kathy Lucas Haubner; brother, Ronald Felty Jr.; sisters, Kathrien Haubner and Tiffany Haubner; grandparents, Elsie Haubner, and Alex and Patricia Lucas, all of Falmouth.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Turner Ridge Cemetery, Pendleton County.
Blanche K. Marksberry Henry, 92, of Covington, died at 6:06 a.m. Wednesday at her home. She was a retired employee of Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co., and a former seamstress with Fashion Frock, Cincinnati. She was a member of Marcus Crooked Creek Baptist Church. A son, Harold Lee Henry, died in 1997.
Survivors include sons, Buford G. "Boots" Henry of Williamstown and Marvin W. Henry of Dry Ridge; a daughter, F. Louise Bivens of Burlington; nine grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Felbert Marshall, 74, of Maysville, died Wednesday at Eagle Creek Nursing Home, West Union, Ohio. He was a retired shoe crowner with U.S. Shoe Corp., Maysville, and an Army veteran. His wife, Callie Marie Marshall, preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Rick Marshall of Flemingsburg and Kennard Marshall of San Antonio; a daughter, Lisa Crump of Mt. Carmel; stepsons, Billy Boyd of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Roy Boyd and Larry Bloomfield, both of Sycamore, Ohio; stepdaughters, Naomi Lanter of Mays Lick and Kathie Daniels of Lexington; a brother, Arvil Marshall of Flemingsburg; eight grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fleming County Cemetery, Flemingsburg.
Mae Rutherford, 81, of Burlington, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a retired manager with Mona Corp., Erlanger, and a member of Order of the Eastern Star and Newport Full Gospel Assembly. A daughter, Flossie Clayton, died in 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Heck of Burlington; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Inez V. Bihl Waters, 78, of Bellevue, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a homemaker and a member of Christian Mothers of Sacred Heart, Bellevue.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Waters; sons, Michael Waters and Thomas Waters, both of Bellevue, Paul Waters of Cold Spring and Dennis Waters of Ft. Thomas; daughters, Marilyn Appiarius of Bellevue, Eileen Ampfer of Highland Heights and Kathleen Daines of Ft. Thomas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
