Mr. Kennedy, 85, of Williamstown, died Friday at his residence.
Mr. Kennedy was a kind, honest man who believed in putting in a good day's work for a good day's pay. He puttered in his garden and grew tomatoes and peppers that often wound up on the dinner table.
"He had a heck of a green thumb. He could make anything grow," said a grandson, Dean Bingham of Effingham, Ill.

Mr. Kennedy often drove his bus from Williamstown to Cincinnati to Lexington. He also drove some routes from Kentucky to Tennessee.
He kept a barber's chair at his home and often cut hair for family, friends and neighbors. He tinkered with tools and machines and had a knack for repairing just about anything, his grandson said.
"He could take things apart and fix them, too," Mr. Bingham said. "I was down in the basement, and I admire the different tools he used."
