Mike Kennedy, devoted family man
When F. Mike Kennedy was supporting a wife and nine children, he worked two jobs to make ends meet.
The devoted family man also worked hard to make it to his children's school and sporting activities.
"He was always interested in sports," said his wife, Mary Jeanne Vogelsang Kennedy. "He played football when he was younger, both in the service and out."

his wife in 1943 and took a job with L&N; Railroad, where he started as a switchman and retired after 35 years as yard foreman. Mr. Kennedy also drove an oil truck for his father-in-law's company, Service Oil in Latonia.
He and his wife were active boosters for the basketball team at Holy Cross, where his children went to school.
Mr. Kennedy also enjoyed visiting Goodtimers II, a cafe on Decoursey Avenue that his son helped establish. At one point, the local hangout - named after the original Goodtimers burned to the ground - was owned by two of his sons.
"He was just like a good fellow," his wife said.
"He went up and talked to the guys he knew. It was kind of a hangout place."
