Ronald Plummer
1937-2000
Ronald G. Plummer, 62, of Portsmouth, died Saturday at his home.
Mr. Plummer was born Nov. 10, 1937, in New Boston, Ohio, a son of Sallie Williams Plummer of Greenup and the late Delmar Plummer.
He was a retired crane operator at the former Empire Detroit Steel and was a member of the Scioto County MRDD board in Portsmouth and the New Boston Eagles.
Also surviving are his wife, Carol Logan Plummer; a son, Byron G. Plummer of Lexington; a daughter, Kim Plummer of Portsmouth; a brother, Delmar Plummer of Greenup; a sister, Yvonne Darling of Florida; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore by the Rev. Addison Keaton Sr. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery at Franklin Furnace, Ohio.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the United Pentecostal Church Academy, in honor of Ronald G. Plummer's grandchildren, United Pentecostal Church Academy, 1313 N. Limestone, Lexington, Ky.

Mrs. Alice L. Pressley
Funeral services are to be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shroyer Funeral Home in Columbus for Mrs. Alice Logan Pressley, who died at Bloomingsburg.
Surviving are a son, Harold of Columbus, three daughters, Mrs. Lucile Wilson of Bellflower, Calif., Mrs. Margaret Green and Mrs. Alberta Cook, both of Columbus and these brothers and sisters, Rev. Hiram Logan of Sciotoville, Ocie of Dogwood Ridge, Elsie (sic., Eslie) of Portsmouth, Dillard of Eden Park, Herbert of Vanceburg and Brady of Columbus,
Mrs. Pressley was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Pressley.

George W. Price
George W. Price, 72, self-employed in home and trailer repair in the Valley for many years died Thursday morning in El Centro Community Hospital.
He had had a lingering illness and had been retired for the past few years.
A native of Liberty, Iowa, Price was born May 10, 1904. He and his wife, Mary J., moved to the valley in 1957. They resided at 1710 W. Euclid, Space 59, El Centro.
A memorial service is planned at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the El Centro Church of Religious Science. The Rev. Gene Thompson will officiate. Cremation is planned.
In addition to his widow, Price is survived by a stepson, Robert L. Snider, of St. Louis, Mo., and a granddaughter.
The family suggests that donations may be made to a favorite charity in Price's name.

Mary J. Price
No funeral services are planned and burial will be private for Mary J. Price, 77, of Wespark Court, 1710 Euclid Ave, . El Centro, who died Sunday in El Centro Community Hospital.
Born Feb. 12, 1908, in Flora, Ill., she lived in El Centro since 1957.
Her husband George W. Price, died in 1976.
Survivors include a son, Robert L. Snyder of El Centro; granddaughter, Nancy La Pointe of Las Vegas and three great-grandchildren, Joseph, Robert and Christy La Pointe, all of Las Vegas.
The family suggests donations to a favorite charity.

Essie Riley
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 1981 for Essie Riley, at the Oney Funeral Home in Olive Hill. The Rev. Charles Riggs officiated and burial was in the Garvin Ridge cemetery in Olive Hill.
Mr. Riley, 68, Emerson, died Friday, Sept. 11 at the Veterans Hospital in Huntington, following an extended illness.
Born Oct. 9, 1912, in Lewis County, he was a son of the late Jack and Mary Richmond Riley. He was a farmer and a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are four brothers, Cleve Riley of Vanceburg; Joe Riley of New Castle, Ind.; Tony Riley of Carthage, Ind.; and Everett of Mansfield, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Stella Logan of Grayson, Mrs. Goldie Stevens of Emerson and Mrs. Mary Violet McElroy of Mansfield.

MRS. ARDA RODRIGUEZ
Mother-in-law of Sheffield Steel Official Was Former Resident.
Mrs. Arda Logan Rodriguez, formerly of Kansas City, died Monday at the home in Houston, Tex. She was the mother of Mrs. Anita Juengling, Houston, whose husband, Loyal H. Juengling, is secretary and assistant to the president of the Sheffield Steel corporation.
Mrs. RODRIGUEZ was born in Taney City, Iowa, and was a resident of Kansas City for many years. She moved to Houston five years ago. Her husband, Manuel R. Rodriguez, died in 1930.
Another daughter, Mrs. John Morehouse, National City, Calif., also survives.
Services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday at the Stein & McClure chapel.

Mrs. Agnes I. Barklow Roe
One of Portsmouth’s life long citizens and most respected women was called to the Great Beyond abut 8:45 o’clock last night when the final summons came to Mrs. Agnes I. Barklow Roe, widow of Attorney Benjamin E. Roe at her home 820 Third street. Complications caused death after an illness dating from last March. She had been seriously ill and bedfast for the last five weeks. Death did not come as an unexpected shock to her immediate relatives and friends who realized her condition was grave for the past few days.
Mrs. Agnes I. Barklow Roe was a daughter of Stout Barklow and Sarah Jane Jeffords Barklow. She was born Oct. 20, 1854, in Portsmouth where she spent all her life with the exception of eighteen months in Greenup County, Ky. She attended the local public schools and was a graduate of the Portsmouth high school being one of a class of thirteen on June 25, 1874. For many years she taught school here and numbered among Portsmouth citizens are many of her former pupils.
Her husband was Benjamin E. Roe, a lawyer who was well known in Greenup county. He was also prominent in Democratic politics and was known to many throughout Greenup county as "Bud" Roe. He passed away about twenty years ago.
Mrs. Roe was the last of the immediate family of Barklows. Her nearest surviving relative is an aunt, Mrs. Rose Brennen of Dayton, Ky. She also leaves several cousins in this city.
Mrs. Roe possessed a kind and loving disposition and throughout the city had legions of friends who will be sorry to learn of her death. She was a member of the Fist Christian church of the city and was also active [unreadable] Spencer Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
Funeral services will be held at the home on Third street Saturday morning at ten o’clock after which the body will be taken to Greenup where services will be held in the Christian church at 2:30 o’clock tomorrow afternoon. Burial will be in Greenup.

SOPHIA SCHERER
Mrs. Sophia [Josephine Williams] Ramey Scherer, 75, of 1805 Harrisonville Avenue North Moreland, died Tuesday at the home of a grandson, Robert Sizemore of Sciotoville Rt. 2, after suffering an apparent heart attack.
A native of Greenup County Kentucky, she is survived by her husband, Elba Scherer; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Sizemore of Beaver Rt. 2; a stepson, Earl Shears; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Lorene Massie and Mrs. Hilda McComas, all of Ironton; and a sister, Mrs. Ina Hutchinson, 3701 Rhodes Avenue New Boston.
Services are to be conducted Friday at one p.m. at North Moreland Christian Baptist Church with Rev. William Hamilton officiating.
Interment is to be in Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call at the residence after 7 tonight. The body is to be taken to the church Friday at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Warren Funeral Home.

Mrs. E. Schwamberger
Mrs. Ellen Schwamberger, 97, died at 8:10 a.m. today at her on South St., Wheelersburg. She was the widow of John Schwamberger.
Mrs. Schwamberger was born Dec. 4, 1860, in Logan, W.Va. She has been a resident of this area since four years of age. Mrs. Schwamberger was reared by the late Mr. and Mrs. James Cadot of Lyra community.
She is survived by five sons, Clarence Schwamberger, 4312 Pine St. New Boston, Russell Schwamberger, 808 Lakeview Ave., New Boston, William, Fred and Earl Schwamberger, all of Friendship; a daughter, Rose Schwamberger, Pompano Beach, Fla; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gill Funeral Home with Rev. Forrest Chamberlin officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tonight.

Mrs. W. Schwamberger
Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Roger W. Davis Funeral Home for Mrs. Florence Schwamberger, 75, of Friendship, who died Thursday at Scioto Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Friendship Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, William; four daughters, Mrs. Ada Virgin of West Portsmouth; Mrs. Marjorie Logan of Dayton and Mrs. Bonnie Staggs and Mrs. Judith Staggs, both of Friendship; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Moore of North Dakota, Mrs. Nell Baldi of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Clare Newland of Bradenton, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Interment is to be in Friendship Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tonight.
