Ruth L. Ally (nee Bish), 60, of Hessville, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 1995 at home. She is survived by two daughters, Robin (Mark) Gonzales of Hobart and Sandy (Don) Damron of Hammond; one son, Bob (Sue) Ally of Hammond; seven grandchildren, Mark, Eric, Rachael, Erin, Brittany, Kyle and Brianna; brothers and sisters, Reita Bissett of Wisconsin, James Bish of Illinois, Joyce Sagala of Indiana, Martha (Lester) Oliver of Florida, Josephine (William) Braithwaite of Indiana, Rose (Donald) Wildasin of Indiana, Shirley (Robert) Sheppard of Indiana, Patsy (Roger) Outler of Illinois, Artis (Edward) Riegelman of Mississippi, Darlene Hopkins of California and Frank Bish of California. preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Ally Sr. in 1987; brothers and sisters Robert Bish, Dorothy Thompson, Geraldine Neilsen and Francis Bish.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 1995, 10 a.m. at the Virgil Huber Funeral Home, Hessville Chapel, with Russell J. Dunham, Associate Minister of First Christian Church of Hessville officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil Huber Funeral Home Hessville Chapel, 7051 Kennedy Ave.
Mrs. Ally was a life long area resident. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Ally's memory would be appreciated.
Eli Dan
Eli Dan, 68, of Hammond, IN., passed away on Saturday, September 9, 1995. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eleanor; one son, Dwayne Dan of Hammond, Indiana; one brother, John (June) Dan of Fullerton, California; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; mother-in-law, Anna Kelemen of Dyer, Indiana; one brother-in-law, Steve (Helen) Kelemen of Summerfield, Florida; one aunt, Victoria Irimie of Cleveland, Ohio.
Funeral services are tentatively set for Tuesday, September 12, 1995 at 10 a.m. at the New St. George Romanian Orthodox Church, 17601 Wentworth Ave., Lansing, Illinois with Father John Ionita officiating. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana. Visitation will be Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN. Prayer service Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Dan was a member of the new St. George Romanian Orthodox Church; retired from Inland Steel after 42 years of service; member of Inland Steel 25 Year Club and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Donations to the church in his memory would be appreciated.
Ruth B. Jewell
Ruth B. Jewell, 100, of Crown Point, Indiana, formerly of Hammond, passed away on Friday, September 8, 1995, at the Lutheran Home of Northwest, Indiana. She was born March 7, 1895 in Ashland, Wisconsin the daughter of William R. and Harriet (Perkins) Baxter. On November 28, 1917 in Chicago, she married
William H. Jewell, who preceded her in death in 1982. She is survived by one son, William C. Jewell of Valparaiso, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 1995, 10 a.m. at the Crown of Life Chapel at the Lutheran Retirement Village in Crown Point, IN.

Georgeina King, 73 of Hammond, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 9, 1995. She is survived by six children, Jack (Marsha) King of Griffith, Indiana, Phil (Lynette) King of Mineral Wells, Texas, Nancy (Kip) Nutt of Coldwater, Michigan, Donald (Peggy) King of Schererville, Indiana, Janet Bailey of Coldwater, Michigan and James Priest of Chicago, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Moser of Alsip, Illinois and Mary Kinnahan of Highland Park, Illinois; one brother, Albert Priest of Plainfield, Illinois; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 12, 1995, 11 a.m. from the Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 921 W. 45th Ave., Griffith. Interment will be private.

Sophie Madej (nee Steczyk)
Sophie Madej (nee Steczyk), 65 of Hammond, Indiana, passed away Sunday, September 10, 1995. She is survived by her husband, Edward Madej, Sr.; one daughter, Barbara (Chris) Szurgot of Dyer; one son, Edward Madej, Jr. of Hammond; two grandchildren, David and Suzanna Szurgot; one sister, Julia (Charles) Poss of Merrillville; one uncle Bill (Helen) Poncek of Merrillville; one niece, Cassie (Gordon) Tarman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one nephew, Daniel Csoka of Chicago.

Aurelia Ann Marley (nee Toma)
Aurelia Ann Marley (nee Toma), 75 of Valparaiso and Boca Raton, Florida for the past 20 years, passed away at St. Mary Medical Center, Hobart, Saturday, September 9, 1995. She was a former member of the Descent of the Holy Ghost Romanian Orthodox Church and most recently a member of the Romanian Church in Maramir, Florida; formerly employed by the State of Florida and the Anderson Co. in Gary. Aurelia and her husband were the former owner/operators of the New-Way Delicatessen located on 9th & Jefferson in Gary. She was a former member of the Professional Secretaries Association; a member of the Hollywood, Florida Does Lodge #145. An avid Pinochle player with the Senior's Group at the Crown Point Civic Center. She enjoyed being a teachers aide at the Porter Lakes Elementary School and an active member in the Alzheimers' Groups in Boca Raton Florida as well as Crown Point. She attended Froebel High School and received her G.E.D. in 1937. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Marley, January 20, 1994; parents Nick & Mary Toma and one sister, Virginia.
She is survived by her two daughters, Gerry (Roy) Snodgrass of Valparaiso and Sharon (George) Stroguiludis of Hebron; one son, William G. (Barbranne) Marley of Lexington, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Jeff (Susan), Scott (Caryn) and Tim Snodgrass, Jill, Joi Stroguiludis, Brett (Leslie) and Derek Marley; one brother, Nick Toma of Indianapolis; numerous other loving relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12th, 10 a.m. from the SS. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison, Merrillville with Rev. Father John E. Artemas officiating. James Leslie Martin, 67 of Fordsville, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, September 9, 1995. He is survived by his wife, Erma Jean; one son, James Steve (Selma) Martin of Crown Point, Indiana; two daughters, Sharon (Harry) Kist of South Bend, Indiana and Sandy (Richard) Coon of Lansing, Illinois; two grandchildren Greg Martin and James Kist; three brothers, Bill Martin of Central City, Kentucky, R.K. Martin of Belton, South Carolina and Hugh "Jack" Martin of Crown Point; one sister, Mary Christine Allan of Port Charlotte, Florida; parents, Lenace and Mary Martin of Narrows, Kentucky. preceded in death by brother, Bobby G. Martin in 1980.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12th, 2 p.m. at the Harl Funeral Home in Fordsville, Kentucky. Burial, Fordsville Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday 10 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Church in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Mr. Martin was retired maintenance employee at Armeril Steel Foundry Plant in East Chicago. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Elizabeth Nevelo
Elizabeth Nevelo, 89 of Hammond, Indiana, passed away Sunday, September 10, 1995 at Meridian Nursing Center, in Dyer. She is survived by son, Robert J. (Marlene) Nevelo of Hessville; daughter, Betty Fauskin of San Juan Capistrano, California; seven grandchildren, Michael (Jeanne) Thomas, Robert A. (Jackie) Nevelo, James (Yrlinda) Fauskin, Laura (Russell) Zea, Laura A. Fauskin, Mark A. Nevelo and Eric Fauskin; nine great-grandchildren. preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Nevelo in 1982 and granddaughter, Jean Fauskin.

Eugene "Shorty" Nondorf, 66 of Chicago Heights, Illinois, formerly of Dyer, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 9, 1995 at St. James Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Nondorf (nee Schelfo) of Chicago Heights, two sons, Glen (Karen) and Michael Nondorf, both of South Chicago Heights, Illinois; one daughter, Linda (Rick) Wilemon of Chesterton, Indiana; six grandchildren; four brothers, George Nondorf, Jr. of Dyer, Indiana, Gerald Nondorf and Roger Nondorf, both of Schererville, Indiana and Melvin Nondorf of Munster, Indiana; two sisters, Apolonia Nondorf of Munster and Melvina Pranchus of Wanatah, Indiana. preceded in death by his parents, George & Louise Nondorf; two sisters, Elsie Smith and Gladys Diana; one brother, Edward.

Mike Spear
Mike Spear, 67 of Crown Point, Indiana, formerly of East Chicago and Hammond, passed away Saturday, September 9, 1995. Mike was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served with the U.S. Army for six years. He was a Prisoner of War during the Korean Conflict. He re-enlisted with the U.S. Navy until his retirement from the service. He was a member of the D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans). He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Crown Point. He retired from Operating Engineers Local #150. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Vinco Spear and Frank Spear.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Spear of Crown Point; two sons, Charles V. Spear of Lowell and David of Illinois; brothers, John P. (Mary) Spear of Hammond, Robert R. (Mary Beth) Spear of Crown Point, "Butch" Ronald L. (Mary) Spear of Portage; sisters, "Kay" Kathryn Mackie of Wheeler, Rose (Andrew) Kaytar of Hammond, Mary (Thomas) Bogucki of Highland, "Tootsie" Ann Smith of Texas, "Helen" Eva (Charles) Harlan of Valparaiso and Denice (Keith) Oliver of Cedar Lake; four grandchildren, Danielle, Michael, and Charles, Jr. Spear and David; numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose Stoutmeyer (nee Cramer)
Rose Stoutmeyer (nee Cramer) 86 of South Holland, Illinois, formerly of Holland, Michigan, passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Saturday evening in Chicago Heights, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gilbert Bussies and Garrett Stoutmeyer, her daughter, Marilyn Vander Hulst and her son Gilbert Bussies, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Joyce and her husband, Rev. Garrett H. Stoutmeyer of South Holland, Illinois. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Joan Cramer of Holland, Michigan and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Margo Bussies of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Visitation will be at the Smits Funeral Home, DeYoung-Vroegh Chapel, 649 E. 162nd St., South Holland on Monday, September 11th, from 2 til 9 p.m. Further visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 1865 Eastern Ave., S.E., Grand Rapids, Michigan. Orvel E. Stroud "Nubbin"
Orvel E. "Nubbin" Stroud, 72 of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 9, 1995 at home. He was born April 4, 1923 in Wyatt, Missouri, the son of William and Laura (Duty) Stroud. A Porter County resident since 1957, he was the owner along with his son, Gary of Stroud's Harley Davidson in Valparaiso. A member of Iron Workers Local #395, he was the chief welder on the "Picasso" sculpture at the Daley Plaza, Chicago. Mr. Stroud was an expert engine builder, machinist and master gunsmith who was known for his superior craftsmanship.
He is survived by his wife, Orvilla "Billie" Stroud; a son, Gary Stroud of Valparaiso; two daughters, Mendee Stroud of Valparaiso and Patricia Weimer of Karnak, Illinois; one brother, Eugene Stroud of Wickliffe, Kentucky; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. preceded in death by one daughter, Diane Spillman; one brother, Vernon and two sisters, Alline Cotton and Erine Fryser.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12th, 11 a.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso. Entombment, Graceland Mausoleum. Visitation, Monday 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 1 hour prior to service. Memorials may be made to the Porter County Cancer Society.

Susan J. Sullivan, 36 of Munster, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 9, 1995. She is survived by her parents, A. David and Rose Carlson; one brother, Eric (Elizabeth) Carlson of North Carolina; two nieces, Anne and Margaret. preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Sullivan.
