Joseph E. Sands
Joseph E. Sands, 66 of Brunswick, previously of Cleveland passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2004 at Medina General Hospital. He was born November 20, 1938 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to Raymond D. and Jessie M. (nee Black) Sands. He was a United States Army veteran, a member of the United Auto Workers, loved his yard and vacationing in Arkansas, and playing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Andrea (nee Robinson) Sands; children Ronald Sands of Newton Falls, Gregory Sands of Seville, Karen (Ronald) DeBolt of North Benton, Norma (Rich) Sands of Lake Milton, Crissy Simpson of Medina; brothers Lewis (Garnet) Sands of Sherman, West Virginia and Carroll "Bud" (Movetta) Sands of Hartford, West Virginia; sister Kathryn (Carl) Mullins of Diamond; grandchildren Brittany Sands of Brunswick, Jake Boles of Elyria, Klint Boles of Deerfield, Cassie Slama of Deerfield, Ray DeBolt of North Benton, Nick DeBolt of North Benton, Brandon Sands of Lake Milton, Shannon Sands of Lake Milton, Cody Sands of Medina, Jessie Sands of Medina, Ryan Mooradian of Medina, and Amber Simpson of Medina; and great-grandson Dominic Boles of Deerfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Raymond "Doug" Sands and Lester Sands. Andrew A. Vecchio Jr.
Andrew A. Vecchio, Jr., 50, of Garrettsville, passed away unexpectedly at Robinson Memorial Hospital, Ravenna on Friday, Nov. 26, 2004. Born August 17, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a truck driver, owner/operator at Lucky Sand and Gravel in Mantua for 30 years. He was an avid scuba diver who achieved the rank of Master Diver. He enjoyed antiqueing and driving his MG. He loved the OSU Buckeyes and enjoyed the Garfield G-Men. He is survived by his wife, Rose, of Garrettsville; sons, Bradley (Christine) of Tallmadege and Michael (Leslie) of West Hollywood, California; brothers, Jerry (Judy) Vecchio of Ravenna and Angelo (Patty) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and sister, Lynda (Joseph) Penna of Garrettsville. He held his family and friends close, especially his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Juanita (Rippee) Sr. Calling hours are Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 from 5-8 P.M. and one hour prior to the 11 A.M. service on Tuesday at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville. Richard P. Smith, II
Richard P. Smith, II, 28, of Akron, died Friday, November 26, 2004 at Akron Children's Hospital after a long battle with cystic fibrosis. He was born September 21, 1976 to Richard P. and Sharon L. (Mitchell) Smith of Akron. He worked as a computer analyst for ACS Roadway and was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Fairlawn and the Delightful Church in Southington. He is survived by his parents, his sisters, Kristy Smith of Akron and Lisa Mitchell Royster of Oxford, N.C.; nephew, Cory; nieces, Alisha, Angela, Ashley and Alivia as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and his dog, "Princess." He is also survived by special friends, John and Monica Masters of Garrettsville, the parents of his fiancee, Detra "DeeDee" Masters, who passed away May 21, 2001. He was preceeded in death by his paternal granddmother, Ethel Barthelmas; and his maternal grandparents, Gay and Ruth Mitchell. Calling hours will be held Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004 from 2-5 P.M. and Monday from 12-1 P.M. at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Oh. (330-527-2188). Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at 1 P.M. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gerald Davison and the Rev. Peter King officiating. John Rogalski
John Rogalski, 89 of Medina passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at his residence. He was born May 16, 1915 in Clebeland to Willian and Mary (nee Deraneil) Rogalski. He was an electrician for Republic Steel and a United States Army Veteran serving in WWII. He was a coin collector, a master accordian player, enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, and a master gardener. He is survived by his wife Melanie (nee Jarkiewicz) Rogalski; son Richard (Linda) Rogalski of North Olmsted; daughters Melanie (Ruben) Miguel of Medina, Loretta (Joseph) McGlynn of North Royalton, Mary Jane Quinn of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Joana (Karl) Klebenowof Edwardsville, Illinois; brother William Rogalski of North Olmsted; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Leo, Edmund, Raymond, and Stanley Rogalski; and sisters Magdalene, Helen, Marie, and Florence. Joseph F. Vidmar
Joseph F. Vidmar, 90 of Brunswick, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at Medina General Hospital. He was born March 5, 1914 in Cleveland to Valentine and Mary Vidmar. He was a punch press operator in the steel industry; he built three of his homes; and enjoyed playing cards. He is survived by his children Josephine "Cookie" (Richard) Milgate, Mary Jane (Marty) Baytos, and Joseph (Sheila) Vidmar; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine (nee Birtic) and his parents. John Pilko
John J. Pilko, 79, of Medina, Ohio passed away on November 25, 2004. He was born in Lisbon, Ohio on December 10, 1924 to Joseph and Mary (nee Stopka) Pilko. He retired from Ford Motor Company of Brookpark in 1980 after 30 years of service as a fork lift operator. He enjoyed visiing friends in Florida, walleye and perch fishing, and was an avid pinochle player. He was a United States Army verteran serving in Normandy and Northern France. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Mildred (nee Studnicka) Pilko; children Alan Studnicka of Berea, Mary Cruz of Berea, Joseph (Gina) Pilko of Olmsted falls, Chris (Tony) Wolfe of Medina, Gerald (Gina) Pilko of Deland, Florida; sister Anny Hunter of Salineville, OH; grandchildren Kimberly (Charles) Mehlman of Parma, Luisa Cruz of New York, Eric Pilko of Olmsted Falls, Lindsay Pilko of Olmsted Falls, Adam Brantner of Lodi, OH, David (Jessica) Brantner of Biloxi, MS, Brett Pilko of Port Orange, Fl, Brittan Pilko of Port Orang, FL; great-grandchildren Maxwell Mehlman of Parma, and Alexandra Melman of Parma. He was proceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Genevieve Studnicka, and sisters Mary Pilko, Verna Kordick and Jesephine Bonneau. Mary C. Harenda (nee Marcos), 93 of North Royalton passed away on Monday, November 22, 2004 at Falling Water Health Care Center. She was born September 22, 1911 in Brownsville, Pennsylvania to Mike and Mary (nee Gareffa) Marcos. She worked as a Sales Associate for Sears. She is survived by her son John (Susan) Harenda; grandchildren Dana Camino and John Harenda Jr.; and great-grandchildren Kira Camino and Tony Camino. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Harenda; sister Rose Marcos; and her parents. Vernon F. Tucker
Vernon F. Tucker, 83 of Brunswick passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2004 at Medina General Hospital. He was born June 4, 1921 in SAS Canada to George and Zoe Marie (nee Bucharde) Tucker. He retired from Conrail Railroad in 1986 and was a life member since November of 1979 and Trustee of Brunswick VFW Post 9520, member of Geneva Masonic Lodge 334, Brunswick American Legion Post 234, and Commemorative Committee for the City of Brunswick. He was a United States Navy veteran serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Elizabeth L. (nee Lengel) Tucker; children Robert (Chris) Tucker, Gail (Jerry) Risko, Deborah (Art) McAndrew, and Daniel Tucker; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Home, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick. Sally L. Faigin, 65 of Medina passed away on Friday, November 19, 2004 at Medina General Hospital. She was born December 30, 1938 in Cleveland to Harold and Elsie (nee Johans) James. She was a Customer Service Associate for First Merit Bank in Brunswick for 25 years. She enjoyed Share Christmas and ceramics. She is survived by her husband Don Faigin; children Don Faigin of Brunswick, Denise (Brad) VanMeter of Wooster, and Lisa Lichniak of Medina; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
