Diana Lynn Benson
Diana Lynn Benson, 52, of Windham, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 at the Cleveland Clinic following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born June 28, 1952 and was a factory worker at Matrix in Solon. Survivors include her husband, Charles, of Windham, whom she married
October 30, 1978; mother, Bonneta "Bonnie" (Garland) Bowers of Nelson Twp. sons, Robert (Lydia) Hawkins of Windham and Shannon Benson of Bellville, Ill., daughter, Jodie Hawkins of Windham; brothers, Kenneth of Akron, Daniel (Jamie) of Cortland, Dennis (Leslie) of Garrettsville and Tim (Pam) of Warren; sister, Rebecca Riley of Garrettsville, and 5 grandchildren: Bradley Troyer, Shawna Hawkins, Jacob Hawkins, Rani Hawkins-Wolf and Skylar Claar. Her father, Lester W. Bowers died June 6, 2004. She was a great woman who loved time spent with family and whose thoughts and prayers were for others until the last moments of her life. Calling hours will be 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004 and from 11-12 on Friday, at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville where Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 12:00 Noon with Pastor William McCartney officiating. Burial will be in Windham Twp. Cemetery.
Carol R. Kravochuck
Carol R. Kravochuck (nee Ball), 73 of Sharon Township passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at Hudson Elm Nursing Home. She was born March 15, 1931 in Cleveland to Robert and Halle (nee Baller) Ball. SHe was a Routing Supervisor for Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and enjoyed her family. She is survived by her children Karen (Randy) Benke, John Kravochuck, Michael (Christie) Kravochuck, Paul Kravochuck, Nicholas (Nancy) Kravochuck, and Leah Kravochuck; brother William Ball; sisters Rae Taranowski, Diane Hogan, and Kathryn Ball; 13 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas; her parents; and a brother Robert Ball. Darrell "Bud" Minnick, Jr.
Darrell "Bud" Minnick, Jr., 62, of Newborn, Georgia, died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at his residence. He was born June 25, 1942 in Jefferson County, Pa. to the late Darrell and Dora Louise (Mitchell) Minnick, Sr. Formerly of upstate New York and then Oxford, Mr. Minnick was a resident of Newborn since 1995. He was a Spec. 4 U.S. Army Veteran, a member of West End Baptist Church in Social Circle, and was an avid reader. He also loved history and boxing. Survivors are his wife, Katherine Minnick of Newborn; daughters, Rebecca (fiancee: Tom Galliot) Minnick of Canton, Dana (Henry) Norrington of Pope Air force Base, N.C., Joy (Darren) Miller of Marietta, Georgia, and son-in-law, Tony Thorne of Covington, Georgia; sisters, Grace "Trudy" Hickox of Middleifld; Karen Denis of Charleston, S.C., Mary Lou (Scott) Stiegemeier of Kent, Pam (Paul) Uchrinscko of Clearwater, Florida; brothers, William "Kip" (Susan) Minnick of Newton Falls, Rob Minnick of Windham, Tim (Lisa) Minnick of Middlefield; grandchildren, Jon Tomas "J.T." Thorne and May-Katherine Ellen Norrington. Funeral Services will be Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at 2 P.M. at Parkman Congregational Church, 18255 Main St., Parkman, Ohio 44080 with Rev. Gary W. Guthrie, age 57, of York Township, passed away on Monday September 13, 2004. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Gary is survived by his beloved wife Rebecca (nee Brown); dearest children Scott (Melanie) Guthrie, Douglas Wooten, Danielle (Arnold) Worley, Anne Wooten; loving brothers Joseph (Marlene) Guthrie, Dennis Guthrie, Chris (Monica) Guthrie, and sisters Barb (Lee) Lakatosh, and Linda (Nick) Noll; cherished grandchildren Alexandria, Josephine, and Liam. His parents William and Clara (nee Zubricky) Guthrie preceded him in death. Dorothy M. Pavlic (nee Burke), 80 of Brunswick passed away on Monday, September 13, 2004 at Southwest General Hospice Center. She was born September 2, 1924 in Cleveland to William and Florence (nee Kohler) Burke. She attended St. Colette Catholic Parish and was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Michael J. Pavlic; children Michael (Mary) Pavlic Jr., William Pavlic, Donald (fiancee' Janet Bihary) Pavlic, and Kenneth Pavlic; brothers John Burke, Donald Burke, and Charles Smith; grandchildren Christopher Pavlic, Heather Pavlic, and Leona Kreiner; great-granddaughter Kristina Pavlic; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers William and Bob Burke. Kayla Elaine Huffman, 11, of Warren, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2004 at Cincinnati Children's Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born March 17, 1993 in Princenton, West Virginia, Mercer County, she was a 6th. grade student. She is survived by her mother, Michelle (Collins) Huffman of Warren; father, Lonnie Huffman of West Virginia; paternal grandparents, Lonnie and Ann (O'Dell) of W.Va; and maternal grandparents, Richard and Carol (Veon) Collins of Windham; sisters, Kimberly Huffman and Kelsey Host, both of Warren and aunts, Cathy, Carol-lynn, Cindy, Cherri, Connie and Rachel, and many cousins. Funeral Services will be Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, with Rev. Ralph Hearn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday. The family requests that in lieu of sending flowers, contributions may be sent to the funeral home to help defray medical and funeral expenses.

Edward F. Rowe, Jr., 72 of Strongsville passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at his residence. He was born September 13, 1931 in Akron to Edward F. and Grace M. (nee Mohaney) Rowe Sr. He was a truck driver and a United States Army and United States Marine Corps veteran. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Kathleen M. Rowe (nee Laughlin); sons Jeffrey (Becky) Rowe and Randy (Jan) Rowe; and grandchildren Brett, Melissa, Kelly, Jennifer, Eddie, and Bernadette. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Ruth, Dorothy, and Edith. Edna M. McVay (nee Watkins), 81 of Granger Twp., passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at Medina General Hospital. She was born May 1, 1923 in Greeley, Colorado to Bernard and Elizabeth (nee Bunchenbach) Watkins. She worked in manufacturing as a box stitcher, was an avid Indians fan, and loved her family. She is survived by her children Jean Szymanski, June McVay, Jerry (Jacqueline) McVay, and Jill (Israel) Garcia; brother George Watkins; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn McVay, brother John Watkins, and her parents. Dennis L. Wilson Sr.
Dennis L. Wilson, Sr., 58, of Garrettsville, a life-long resident of the area, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at Akron General Medical Center. Born July 30, 1946 in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Melvin and Jean (White) Wilson, Dennis graduated from James A. Garfield High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy and is a Vietnam Veteran. He drove a steel truck for 23 years and was a manager for Steel Transport & Trucking for 14 years. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sandy Wilson; daughter, Kimberly Wilson and grandson, Dylan Wilson, all of Garrettsville; son, Dennis L. (Tracy) Wilson, Jr. of Akron, Ohio and uncle, Leonard Berry of Poland, Ohio. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved building and flying model airplanes and trains, and time spent with his family. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 P.M. on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio 44231, where Funeral Services will begin at 2 P.M. on Saturday. Burial with Military Honors will be at Park cemetery in Garrettsville.

Rose Saveria Garcia, 92, previously of Mt. Vernon, New York, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2004 in Ohio. She was born October 24, 1911 in Manhattan, New York and was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, word search puzzles, personalized crocheting, and bingo. She is survived by her brother Andrew (Elder) Tantillo; sister Mary (Anthony) Genovese; grandchildren Michelle (Brian) Grenfell, Felise Garcia, and Nicole (Scott) Pickett; great-grandchildren McKenzie and Jared Grenfell and Connor, Sydney, and Luke Pickett. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter Garcia; son Roland (Bernice) Garcia; her parents Frank and Saveria Tantillo, brothers Frank, Jasper, Anthony and sisters Laura (Bob) Rubino and Angie Granit. William R. Massey Sr.
William R. Massey, Sr., 78 of Caldwell, formerly of Brunswick, passed away on on Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at his residence. He was born June 10, 1926 in West Virginia to Wade and Lucy Massey. He was a factory worker at General Motors in Brook Park, a paratrooper in the United States Army serving in WWII and Korea, and an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by his children Rose Mary Zimmer and William R. (Ginger) Massey, Jr.; loving companion Ruth Mitchell; brothers Harvey Massey and Ira Massey; sisters Clara Jean Busler, Reba Edwards, and Margaret Reynolds; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Connie, one granddaughter, two brothers, and his parents. Ruth E. Minnery (nee Roesler), 79 of Brunswick Hills passed away on Monday, August 23, 2004 at Southwest General Hospital. She was born October 21, 1924 in Cleveland to Ludwig and Pauline Roesler. She was an Administrative Secretary, an avid bingo player, loved to read, and enjoyed crafts. She is survived by her husband Thomas J. Minnery; daughter Pamela (Robert) Thomas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Private Graveside Services were held on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at 12:00 P.M. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman. Everett L. Smith, 57, an 18 year resident of Nelson Twp. passed away following a lengthy illness at Solon Medical Center on Monday, August 23, 2004. Born October 29, 1946 in Warren, Ohio, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. Everett was employed as a truck driver. Regina Szabaga, 89, of Garrettsville, died Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Jennings Hall in Garfield Hts., Ohio. Born November 26, 1914 in Ravenna, Ohio, she was the daughter of Kazimer and Josephine (Bunkowski) Nienaltowski. Regina was a homemaker and a long time member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She is survived by her sons, Leon (Linda) of Davenport, Iowa, Bruce of Garrettsville, and Thomas (Marlene) of Mantua; brother, Bernard of Garfield Hts., sister, Helen Dudak of New Mexico; 21 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Stanley in 1981, brother, Vincent, and sister, Mary Ilczuk.
