Stamper
Vanceburg, Ky. – Emeral W. Stamper, 71, of Harrison, Ohio, formerly of Lewis County, died Monday in a Cincinnati hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Trumbo Morgan Stamper; a son Harold of Harrison, his mother, Mrs. Lillie Stamper Huff and a sister, Mrs. Ormal Ingram, both of Poplar Plains, and two grandchildren.
Services are to be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Dickerson Funeral Home here, with Rev. John Hamilton officiating. Interment is to be in Horsley cemetery at Laurel Point.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Stamper
VANCEBURG, May 3 – James Stamper, 57, retired Vanceburg business man, passed away at 8 p.m. Monday of complications.
He is survived by his wife, Nannie Stamper, a daughter, Bertie, three sons, George, Allan and James Jr.; the parents Mr. and Mrs. C. W. (sic., G. W.) Stamper, and a brother Jack, all of Vanceburg, and six sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Roe, Mrs. Julia Fisher, Mrs. Bess Tannian and Mrs. Marie Brown, all of Vanceburg, and Mrs. Cynthia Dunbar of Concord and Mrs. Cora Burns of Chattanooga.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of K. Stanley Kimble.

J. V. Stamper
After an illness of three weeks with Spanish influenza and pneumonia, J. V. Stamper, of Fullerton, succumbed to the treacherous combination, Tuesday evening. His brother, Washington Stamper died of the same disease Oct 15, this year. The deceased was 35 years of age and is survived by his mother, Mrs. M. E. Stamper and two brothers, Private J. D. Stamper, Fort Thomas, Ky., and Private Kenneth Stamper of the American Expeditionary Forces, France. The body will be shipped to Cincinnati for burial, Thursday.

Vanceburg, Ky - Joe E. Stamper, 93 Vanceburg, Rt. 1, died Tuesday morning at the residence of a daughter, Mrs Betty Helderbrand of Shirley, Ind.
A native of Lewis County, he was an Army Veteran of World War I and a former empolyee of Shelby Shoe Co. in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Also surviving are two step-daughters, Mrs. Helen Fultz of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs Ruth Futlz of Emerson, a sister Mrs. Lena Utt of Tampa, Fla, six granchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 29 great grandstep-children.
Services will be conducted at 1p.m. Friday at Dickerson Funeral home here, with Rev. Mike Hardison officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Lincoln Stamper
Lincoln Stamper, 74, of Lucasville, Rt. 1, died Sunday in Huntington Veterans Hospital.
A native of Olive Hill, he was a retired machinist, formerly employed by Perfection Stove Co. in Cleveland.
Stamper was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Bessie Stamper; two sons, William of Lucasville and Theodore of Shidler, Okla; three daughters, Mrs. Katheryn Shaffer of Lucasville Rt. 1, Mrs. Betty Wellman of West Portsmouth and Mrs. Gladys Meyers of Odenton, Md. and 13 grandchildren.
Services are to be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Daehler Funeral Home with interment in Scioto Burial Park.
Friends may call at the Stamper residence after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. George Wison of Huntington, W. Va., W. J. Stamper of Peru, Indiana and John Adams of Knightstown, Indiana were called here to attend the funeral of Marion Stamper in Lewis County Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Stamper and Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Raybourne and two sons, Billie and Bobbie Lee, attended the funeral and burial of the former's brother, James Marion Stamper in Lewis County, Sunday.

Lucasville – Mrs. Madlyn Gertrude Stamper, 80, of Taylor’d Health Care, died Thursday night at Scioto Memorial Hospital.
A native of Carter County, Ky., she is survived by three sons, A. C. Elkins of Ashland, Ky., William Stamper of Cincinnati and Theodore Stamper of Lebanon, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. Katheryn Shaffer of Wheelersburg, Mrs. Betty Wellman of West Portsmouth and Mrs. Gladys Meyers of Gambirlls, Md.; a sister, Mrs. Norma Ethel Fisher of Sacramento, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services are planned at 2 p.m. Sunday at Daehler Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Voss officiating, and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Oldest Citizen of This County Dies
MOTHER OF LARGE FAMILY LIVES TO BE ALMOST 100 YEARS OLD
Carter county in all probability, lost its oldest citizen Wednesday morning of this week, when Mrs. Susan Stamper of Smokey Valley passed away at 1:00 a.m. For years she made her home with her son, W. L. (Dick) Stamper, where she was at the time of her death, which came as a result of pneumonia fever, after several days' illness.
Mrs. Stamper was born July 14, 1834, died Wednesday morning, May 18, 1932 at the age of 97 years, 10 months and four days. Before her marriage she was Miss Susan Fannin, born and reared near where the end came. About the year 1850, she united in marriage with Mr. Jack Stamper, of the same neighborhood, to which union was born 12 children, four, Mary, John, Ellen and Malinda, having passed on before her to eternity many years ago. Surviving her are W. P. Stamper of Smoky Valley; George Stamper, San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Caroline Stallard of Williamstown, Kansas; James, Joe, and W. L. Stamper of Smoky Valley; Calvin Stamper of this city and Mrs. Bell Stone of Vanceburg. Her husband preceded her in death several years ago.
The funeral services will be conducted today, Thursday, at the church at Bethel Cemetery, where the remains will be laid.

Trumbo Stamper
Trumbo M. Stamper, 90, of Harrison, a former Lewis County (Ky.) resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at a Cincinnati hospital.
Born Sept. 26, 1907, in Sherburn, Ky., a daughter of the late Harry L. Morgan and Ollie Trumbo Morgan, she was a housewife and had worked at various occupations.
Preceded in death by her husband, Emeral W. Stamper, on Sept. 18, 1978, she is survived by a son, Harold Stamper of Harrison; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Morgan and Elizabeth Donaldson.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg, with the Rev. Nelson Evans officiating, and interment in Horsley Cemetery, at Laurel, Ky.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

WATT STAMPER, 86, DIES AT GRAYSON
GRAYSON, Nov. 6-Watt Stamper, 86, of Grayson, formerly of Olive Hill, died in Grayson Sunday afternoon.
Funeral services will be conducted at p.m. Wednesday at the Bethel Church by the Rev. Miller. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.
The body is at the Malone Funeral Home.
Mr. Stamper was born May 27, 1870, in Carter County, a son of William and Nancy Pendleton (sic; Penland) Stamper.
Surviving are two sons, Watt Stamper, Jr., and Allie Stamper, both of Logan, W. Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Erwin of Mansfield, O.; three half-brothers, Ross Stamper of Ashland, Bill Stamper of Olive Hill and Link Stamper of Springfield, O.

Maurice Lester Stephenson
A heart attack proved fatal for Maurice Lester Stephenson, 64, an employe of the Norfolk and Western Railway, Y. M. C. A., at 1:15 p.m., Sunday after the efforts of the city rescue squad were futile. Mrs. Stephenson who was a "Y" clerk, had been in ill health for some time.
He was born March 4, 1884, in Greenup co., a son of Zachariah and Clara Peck Stephenson. He had been at his present job for 10 years. Prior to that time Mr. Stephenson and his father jointly ray a grocery store on Eighth st. for 25 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lucy Stephenson of Ashland; a son, Raymond Stephenson of Cincinnati; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Whitt of York, Ky., and Mrs. Marie Lancaster, 1118 Lawson st.; two grandchildren. One brother (unreadable).
He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Emrick funeral home with Rev. L. A. Shawn officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery. The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Stone
Vanceburg - Services for Mrs. Elsie Dyer Stone, 88, of Emerson, who died Thursday at a Maysville hospital after a long illness are planned at 2 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Point Christian Holiness Church.
A native of Emerson, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1970.
Surviving are a son, Alpha of Emerson; two brothers, Murl Dyer of Emerson and Earl Dyer of Florida; two sisters, Mrs. Sena Bryant of Garrison and Mrs. Ruby Burchett of Emerson; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Rev. John Hamilton is to officiate at service with interment in Morgan Cemetery.
