Edward Anneken, 75, SuperX district manager
Edward W. Anneken began what was to be a long career in the pharmacy business as a teen-ager working part-time after school at Beckley Drugs in Latonia.
"He liked it, and he carried on with it, " said Mr. Anneken's wife, Eva Kinman Anneken.
Mr. Anneken went on to earn a degree in pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati and became a district manager and buyer for SuperX, which is now CVS.
Mr. Anneken, 75, of Crescent Springs died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
He was a member of the Veterans Apothecary Association of Cincinnati and the Kentucky and Northern Kentucky pharmacist associations, and of St. Agnes Parish, Fort Wright.
"He was a fun-loving guy, " said Mrs. Anneken. "He loved to talk to people and enjoy life. Everybody loved him."
Mr. Anneken enjoyed playing golf and traveling. He especially enjoyed taking cruises and vacationing in Florida.
Other survivors include daughters, Janette Anneken of Cincinnati and Cindy Curtis of Taylor Mill; a son, Greg Anneken of Dunedin, Fla.; a brother, Howard Anneken of Villa Hills; sisters, Sister Gemma Anneken, O.S.B., Sister Clarita Anneken, O.S.B., Sister Xavier Anneken, O.S.B., and Sister Juanita Anneken, O.S.B., all of Villa Hills; and six grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Agnes Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell.
Memorials are suggested to St. Walburg Monastery, 2500 Amsterdam Road, Villa Hills, Ky. 41017; or the charity of the donor's choice.
Marie T. Abeling, 90, of Villa Hills, died Monday at her home. She was a retired clerk with R.L. Polk Co., Cincinnati. Her husband, Joseph Abeling, died in 1966.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Siemer of Erlanger; sons, Joseph Abeling of Crittenden, Edward Abeling of Jefferson, Ga., and John Abeling of Erlanger; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Church, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Elesa Overbay Beach, 66, of Walton, died Tuesday at her daughter's home in Piner. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Walton. A daughter, Brenda Kendall Wainwright, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Buddy Beach of Walton; daughters, Shelly Lunsford of Piner and Janet Hurst of Walton; a brother, Buddy Overbay of Verona; sisters, Bell Tomlin of Walton and Margie McKinley of Florence; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona. Fern M. Fender, 86, of Newport, died at 12:10 a.m. Tuesday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.
She was a retired sales clerk with Coppins Department Store, Covington, and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Her husband, Walter John Fender, died in 1970.
Survivors include sons, Paul D. Fender of Erlanger and John L. Fender of Mason, Ohio; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Alice F. Zosel Pike, 63, of Carrollton, died Tuesday at Green Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center, Carrollton. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, James A. Pike, died in 2003. A daughter, Letha Rich, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Shonnie Alice Luquer of Nashville, Tenn.; sons, Jack Hicks, Clifford Hicks and Pat Hicks, all of Carrollton; stepdaughters, Tina Davis and Robin Kellog, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; a stepson, James A. "Buddy" Pike Jr. of North Carolina; sisters, Emma Jean LaRowe of Tampa, Fla., Joyce Ann Conup of Benton, and Ethel Lynn Thornton of Carrollton; brothers, Cletus E. Zosel of Columbia, S.C., and Leonard E. Zosel of Carrollton; seven grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Martin Poston, 78, of Maysville, died at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. He was a farmer.

She was a supervisor with Niesners Co., Cincinnati. Her husband, Morris E. Potts, preceded her in death.

Mary K. "Babe" Scott Taylor, 84, of Florence, died Monday at Woodcrest Manor, Elsmere.
She was a bookkeeper with Bryant Distributors, and a member of St. Henry Church in Elsmere and Tri-City Seniors. Her husband, William Taylor, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Jay S. Taylor of Cincinnati, Glenn Taylor of Union and Don Taylor of Erlanger; daughters, Elizabeth Carmack of Merritt Island, Fla., Janice Wiedemann of Union, Karen Engel of Erlanger and Lois Dahlenberg of Hebron; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

James F. Vanover, 50, of Lexington, Monday at his home.
He was a computer technician and a member of Metropolitan Security Disaster Search and Rescue Services in Lexington and amateur radio operator.
Survivors include his parents, James Isaac and Mavis Linderman Vanover of Williamstown; a brother, Jerry Vanover of Williamstown; and sisters, Susan Caldwell and Connie Williams, both of Dry Ridge, Sandra Beach of Crittenden and Trina Shepherd of Williamstown.

Mildred Francis Schadler Younger, 83, of Walton, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
She was a retired factory worker with Lit-Ning Products, Florence, and a member of Crittenden Baptist Church. Her husband, John Younger, died in 1972. A son, John Clifford Younger, died in 1979.
Survivors include sons, James E. Younger and Jerry L. Younger, both of Crittenden; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
