Walter Winters, 64, had many interests
Walter Winters was a man of many interests, from deep-sea fishing to gourmet cooking to playing the saxophone.
Mr. Winters, 64, of Union, died at 10 p.m. Thursday at University Hospital, Cincinnati.
"He was my best friend ever, " said his daughter Stephanie Winters, 32, of Cincinnati. "He was the kindest man. I'm torn apart not to have him here."
She said her father enjoyed telling jokes, playing with his Boxer dog Sammie and making key lime pie and pineapple upside down cake.
He also enjoyed taking Stephanie and daughter Laurie Winters of Rochester, Mich., to Fort Meyers, Fla., to deep-sea fish when they were young.
A design engineer with Complete Food Service in Louisville, he also was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Latonia and played saxophone in the group Shades of Blue.
In addition to his daughters, survivors include his wife, Peggy L. Winters; a stepson, Chad Stansel of Crescent Springs; stepdaughters, Michelle Stansel of Erlanger and Erin Jackson of Florence; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Pearl Arnold, 87, of Hebron, died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence.
She was a beautician and a member of Corbin Christian Church.
Her husband, James G. Arnold, died in 1988.
Survivors include sons, Bill Arnold of Hebron and James G. Arnold Jr. of Queens Creek, Ariz.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Keavy. Memorials are suggested to Gideons International, 24 Commonwealth Ave., Erlanger, Ky. 41018.
James Paul Day, 87, of Dayton, died Friday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.
He was an electrician with the state of Ohio and city of Dayton, Ohio, and a member of First Baptist Church of Dayton.
A son, Michael Day, died in 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Camelia Lane Day; sons, Paul Day of Dayton, Ohio, Rodney Day of Ashland, Ohio, and John Hammer of Alexandria; sisters, Bessie Bryant of the state of California and Mavis Roe of Dayton, Ohio; brothers, Dennie Day and Howard Day, both of Cawood; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue.
Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Hailey Lane Marie Egan, 1 day, daughter of Heather Egan of Covington, died at 1:19 p.m. Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.
Other survivors include a grandmother, Peggy Egan of Covington.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Floral Hills cemetery Chapel, Taylor Mill.
Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery.

Dennis Lee Granger, 60, of Erlanger, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was an associate with Lowes in Erlanger and a driver with Express Delivery, Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Granger; daughters, Lisa Lynn Price of Edgewood and Pamela Sue Williams of Taylor Mill; a sister, Yvonne Parker of Kingsport, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue.
Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Stella Mae Updike Grubbs, 92, of Dry Ridge, died Friday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Clark's Creek Baptist Church, Dry Ridge.
Her first husband, Stanley M. Hutton, died in 1935.
Her second husband, Claude Grubbs, died in 1976.
Survivors include a son, Ernest R. Burnette of Dry Ridge; daughters, Norma L. Grubbs, Doreen J. Miles and Regina A. Wright, all of Dry Ridge, Barbara J. Westover of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Marcus L. Blackburn of Crittenden; sisters, Ruth Evans of Williamstown and Mary Sue Pyles of Shelbyville; 23 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Clark's Creek Baptist Church, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge.

Katherine Grizzell, 17, of Grants Lick, died Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati.
Survivors include her parents, Debbie and Kendall Grizzell of Grants Lick; and grandparents, Shirley Grizzell of Grants Lick and Clarence and Luna Benedict of Highland Heights.

Golden Hall, 67, of Newport, died Thursday at his home. He was an employee of the city of Newport.
Survivors include two daughters, five brothers and sisters, and four grandchildren.

William D. Hitt, 72, of Maysville, died at 1:10 a.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
He was a retired rural letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service and former owner of Service City, Maysville.
He was a scorekeeper with the Mason County Royals, a member of Shannon United Methodist Church and Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Aletha Goodpaster Hitt; daughters, Sharon Christy, Karen Ashcraft and Donna Snedegar, all of Maysville; sisters, Betty Jane Chain of Maysville, Mary Leslie Boger of Lexington and Joann Berry of Mount Olivet; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Joyce McCauley Kunkel, 66, of Dry ridge, died Friday at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
She was a Head Start coordinator with Williamstown Schools and a member of All Saints Church, Walton.
Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Kunkel; sons, Mike Gaiser of Ludlow and Marshall Allnutt of Dry Ridge; a daughter, Janet Readnour of Dry Ridge; her mother, Margaret McCauley of Villa Hills; a brother, David McCauley of Dry Ridge; a sister, Judy McCauley of Newport; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Mabel Warren Lowe, 78, of Dry Ridge, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a retired housekeeper with the hospital and a member of Eggleston United Methodist Church, Fort Mitchell.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Carlette Trujillo of Port Richey, Fla.; a son, David T. Lowe of Dry Ridge; a sister, Carrie Hornsby of Hudson, Fla.; a brother, Raymond Warren of Lyle, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Lottie Mae Barton Mahin, 102, of Fort Thomas, died Saturday at Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bellevue Christian Church. Her first husband, Joseph Barton, died in 1965. Her second husband, Ernest Mahin, died in 1980. A daughter, Beverly Fabrubel, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Kohler of Bellevue; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Daniel F. Meirose, 57, of Villa Hills, died at 3:15 p.m. Friday at Woodcrest Manor Nursing Home, Elsmere. He was a self-employed insurance agent.

Paula Virginia Pennington, 47, of Ghent, died Saturday at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange. She was a saleswoman with Floyd's Jewelry in Carrollton and a member of Ghent Baptist Church and the Ghent Women's Club.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Rickie Pennington; her mother, Iva Bibb Thompson of Ghent; and brothers, Howard Bibb Thompson and Thomas Scott Thompson, both of Ghent.

Margaret Purnell, 65, of Warsaw, died Feb. 4 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

Robert C. "Whitey" Sherlock, 82, of Bellevue, died Thursday at his home. He was an officer with the Fort Thomas Police Department Auxiliary, a retired wholesale florist with Hills Floral Co., Cincinnati, and a Navy veteran of World War II.

H. Richard Winkler, 78, of Fort Thomas, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
He was a processing manager with Xtek, Cincinnati, a former employee of the Fernald power plant and a deacon with St. John's United Church of Christ, Cincinnati. He was a past president of the Cincinnati Data Processing Association and a former member of the Oak Hills Board of Education, and was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Winkler of Tucson, Ariz.; sons, Kris Winkler of Seattle and Mike Winkler of Fort Thomas; a daughter, Vicki Schottelkotte of Cincinnati; a sister, Jean Calhoun of Cincinnati; and four grandchildren.
