Debra Lynn Jump, built church moms program

Much of Debra Lynn Jump's life revolved around the Fort Mitchell Baptist Church, where she was a member for 35 years.

Mrs. Jump, 49, of Fort Wright, who died of a heart attack Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood, founded the church Mother's Day Out program in 1987.

The program gives mothers a place to drop their children off for a few hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays so they can have some time off, said Mrs. Jump's husband, Ralph E. Jump Jr.

Mrs. Jump built the program from about 20 children to more than 100 today, with a waiting list for more. "She was loved by all the teachers and the children and the parents, " her husband said.

She met her husband at the church, and they were married about a year later. They recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a Caribbean cruise.

Mrs. Jump grew up in Fort Mitchell and attended Beechwood High School. She earned a two-year degree in accounting at Northern Kentucky University, and worked for West Shell until she married.
