Frances Platek taught in Kenton Co. schools
Frances C. Platek taught elementary school in several Kenton County schools for 20 years.
"She loved children, " said her husband, Stanley A. Platek. "She loved teaching them at the grade-school level."
Mrs. Platek, 84, of Edgewood, died Saturday at Villaspring Care Center in Erlanger.
She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Lakeside Park and belonged to the church's Mary Martha Circle.
Mrs. Platek also was a member of the Summit Hills Country Club in Edgewood and the Simon Kenton chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Before moving to Kentucky and beginning her teaching career, Mrs. Platek worked in Washington, D.C., as a secretary at the FBI and Westinghouse Corp.
Mrs. Platek's first husband was killed in World War II.
While a student at Florence State Teachers College in Alabama, Mrs. Platek played piano with a dance band and orchestra.
She also enjoyed jitterbug dancing and fishing.
"She was very outgoing and full of life, " said Mr. Platek, her husband of 52 years.
Other survivors include a son, S. Frank Platek of Independence; a daughter, Vicki Rose of Edgewood; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
No services are planned.
There will be a memorial visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger.

Harold Abner, 53, of Crittenden, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday at his home.
He was a field supervisor with Cinergy, Cincinnati, and a member of Verona First Full Gospel Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Eversole Abner; a son, Todd B. Abner of Crittenden; a daughter, Shawna C. McClure of Dry Ridge; his mother, Hazel Lainhart Abner of Crittenden; a brother, Eugene Abner of Florence; sisters, Joann Perkins of Florence and Sharon Groene of Cincinnati; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tuesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Elizabeth Adams, 80, of Carrollton, died Friday at Green Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center, Carrollton. She was a homemaker and a member of Carrollton United Pentecostal Church. Her husband, Virgil Adams, died in 1958. A son, Eugene Lilly, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Brenda Earl of Carrollton and Pam Perry of Ghent; sons, Eddie Lilly and Rev. Gerald Adams, both of Hopkinsville, Clifford Lilly of Carrollton, Larry Adams and Jeff-rey Adams, both of Warsaw, and Steve Adams of Worthville; brothers, Arnold Beach of Warsaw and Pete Beach of Sparta; sisters, Luttie Williamson of Latonia and Florence Williamson of Warsaw; 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret "Peggy" Ebert Anderson, 69, of Erlanger, died at 9:40 a.m. Saturday at Villaspring Care Center, Erlanger.
She was a former insurance agent with AAA and former owner of Anderson Insurance Agency, Fort Thomas. She was a member of Mary Queen of Heaven Church, Erlanger. Her husband, James G. Anderson, died in 1998.
Survivors include a son, Jim W. Anderson of Hebron; daughters, Peggy Cross of Villa Hills, Debbie Schrode of Fort Thomas and Judy Dreves of Wilder; a sister, Rose Ann Ebert of Fort Thomas; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Ella Mae Bannon Bauereis, 78, of Fort Wright, died at 2 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

Geneva Mae Gallagher, 70, of Brooksville, died Friday at her home.
She was a nurse's aide with Chatham Nursing Home, Maysville. Sons Ronnie Gallagher and Ricky Gallagher both preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Brammer of Shelbyville; sons, Larry Gallagher of Germantown and Mike Gallagher of Brooksville; a brother, Robert Cooper of Lexington; a sister, Ruth Harris of Dover; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

William Herklotz, 80, of Bellevue, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was an accountant with Didier-Taylor & Refractories; member of Prince of Peace Church, Bellevue; an accountant with the Talbert House; and a member of Kentucky American Legion, the Bellevue Board of Education and Bellevue Band Parents. He also was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Herklotz; daughters, Chris Gary of Jeffersonville, Ind., Anna Herklotz of Milan, Italy, and Kate Stansberger of Silver City, N.M.; sons, Hans Herklotz of Lexington, Karl Herklotz and Marc Herklotz, both of Fort Thomas; and eight grandchildren.

He was a painter for the Drees Co. and a member of Community Pentecostal Church, Independence.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Mastin Hester; a son, Sonny Hester of Dry Ridge; daughters, Lee Ann Haggard of Fairfield, Ohio, Billie Sue Evans of Independence and Pam Robbins of Taylor Mill; a brother, Terry Hester of Brooksville; and 11 grandchildren.

Edna Pearl Hicks, 88, of Morning View, died Friday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Demossville Baptist Church. Her husband, Carlo Hicks, died in 2003. Sons Dennis Hicks, Arnold Hicks, Dean Hicks and Lendon Hicks also preceded her in death.

Mary Anne Rice Joslin, 73, of Erlanger, died at 9:05 a.m. Saturday at Madonna Manor, Villa Hills. She was a registered nurse with the State of Maryland.
Survivors include a sister, Ruth Conrey of Villa Hills, and a nephew, Greg Rice of Florence.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Madonna Manor. Cremation will be at Northern Kentucky Mortuary Service.

Diane Lynn Kendall, 52, of Covington, died Friday at her home. She was a former manager with Kentucky Fried Chicken and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Covington.

Marguerite Schaeffer, 99, of Carrollton, died Friday at Gallatin County Health Care Center, Warsaw.
She was a receptionist with Christian Church Home in Danville and Methodist Home in Cincinnati, worked in her father's general store, and was a member of Drury's Chapel Methodist Church, Gallatin County. Her husband, Vernon Schaeffer, died in 1960. A son, Jimmy Schaeffer, died in 1989.
Survivors include grandchildren, Nancy Schaeffer of Pleasureville, Cindy Burgett of Glencoe, Becky Burgett of Verona and JoAnn Cook of Walton; six great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Viola Wright Taylor, 93, of Rising Sun, Ind., died Friday at Waters Nursing Home, Dillsboro, Ind. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Rising Sun. Her husband, Rev. Forest B. Taylor, died in 1987. Sons Durard Taylor and Wendell Taylor died in 1970 and 1980, respectively.
