James 'J.C.' Ecton, owned In-Town Cafe'
James C. "J.C." Ecton, a former Covington police officer and owner of the In-Town Cafe in Covington, died Tuesday at his residence. He was 58.
"He was a very outgoing and generous person, " said Mr. Ecton's brother, Robert Ecton of Ludlow.
He was especially fond of his daughter, Jami Sue Ecton of Covington, who survives him.
"He devoted his life to her, " said Robert Ecton. "He was a very loving and giving and affectionate father.
"Taking care of his daughter was his main goal."
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. today at Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be there from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
Entombment will be at Mother of God Mausoleum in Fort Wright.
Mary Russell Hudgins Arnold, 78, of Ghent, died Tuesday at King's Daughters Hospital, Madison, Ind. She was a homemaker and a member of Family Worship Center, Carrollton. Her husband, Ira Arnold, died in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Dwight Arnold of Ghent, and a sister, Betty Courtney of Worthville.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Family Worship Center, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the center. Burial will be in Wheatley Cemetery. Frances M. Auchter, 88, of Butler, died Wednesday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler. She was a homemaker and a member of Grants Lick Baptist Church, where she was active in the Jolly Elders. Her husband, Willard Auchter, died in 1985.
Survivors include a son, Carl Auchter of Mentor; daughters, Carolyn Eshman of Cold Spring and Alberta Kemplin of Lexington; a sister, Florence Wolfe of Butler; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Lawrence Richard Becker, 46, of Alexandria, died Tuesday at his home. He was a clerk with the Internal Revenue Service.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Walker Becker; his parents, Melvin and Mildred Walter Becker of Fort Thomas; a sister, Kathleen Macke of Cold Spring; and brothers, Ronald Becker of Taylor Mill and Gerard Becker of Mount Olivet.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.
Bertha Roberts Breeden, 69, of Covington, died Wednesday at her home. She was a retired nursing aide with St. Charles Care Center, Covington, and a member of Glencoe Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Ray Breeden; daughters, Anna Louise Smith of London, Debra Fay Baird of Union and Rose Marie Lykins of Covington; sons, Harold Ray Breeden Jr. of Covington and Delbert Marshall Breeden of Cincinnati; sisters, Gladys Marie Breeden of Carrollton and Myrtle June Perkins of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, William "Kelly" Roberts of Worthville; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakley Cemetery, Glencoe.
Eugene "Rolland" Caster, 77, of Melbourne, died at 5:48 p.m. Tuesday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler. He was a retired transmission repairman with Ford Motor Co. in Batavia, Ohio, and a member of Melbourne United Methodist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Caster; daughters, Carol Caldwell, Barbara Fryman and Sandra Smith, all of Alexandria; a son, William Caster of Melbourne; a sister, Wanda Campbell of Missoula, Mont.; a brother, Roy Caster of Porter, Texas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

James William Cloe, 82, of Berry, died Tuesday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. He was a retired employee of Grede Permacast and owner of Wampanoag Guernsey Farm in Harrison County, and was a member of Colemansville Christian Church and the Kentucky Guernsey Breeders Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel Huffman Cloe; a daughter, Jane Switzer of Cynthiana; sons, James Allen Cloe of Cynthiana and Randall Cloe of Berry; a sister, Iona Link of Berry; a brother, Lovell Cloe of Berry; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.
Louretta Cochran, 66, of Fort Thomas, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired nurse's aide.
Survivors include nieces, Christina Lusby of Morning View, Linda Schreiber of Bellevue and Diana Fornash of Crescent Springs.

Beverly Biddle Dinser, 48, of Florence, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a homemaker and a cargo sorter with DHL.
Survivors include daughters, Lori Bauereis of Erlanger and Jamie Fahey of Florence; a son, Bobby Dinser of Barbourville; her mother, Nancy Holt of Canaan, Ind.; brothers, Jerry Biddle and Jimmy Biddle, both of Burlington, and Kelly Biddle of Florence; and sisters, Joyce Biddle of Florence, Jenny Chandler of Bennington, Ind., Sandy Floyd of Dry Ridge and Patty Stewart of Canaan; and her fianc�e, Jim Fahey of Florence.

Matthew Robert Elicker, 24, of Fort Mitchell, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a student at the College of Mount St. Joseph, Delhi, Ohio.
Survivors include his parents, Deborah and Edward Elicker of Fort Mitchell; a sister, Megan Elicker of Covington; and grandparents, Robert and Lois Elicker of Green Valley, Ariz., and Eleanor McDowell of Las Vegas.

Mida "Firrie" Gander, 62, of Newport, died at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired electrical worker with Wadsworth Electrical Co., Covington. Her husband, William "Goose" Gander, died in 1994.
Survivors include sons, Charles Gander and Robert Gander, both of Newport; daughters, Alvena Gander and Elizabeth Chandler, both of Newport; sisters, Barbara Morgan of Sanders, Alice Egan of Falmouth, Revea Hurst of Crittenden and Verdie Garcia of Del Rio, Texas; brothers, Charles Morgan and Oscar Morgan, both of Sanders; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Karen Judith McHugh Jones, 48, of Dry Ridge, died Tuesday at Bethesda Hospital Hospice, Cincinnati.

Annette Kidwell, 96, of Erlanger, died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday at Woodcrest Manor, Erlanger. She was a retired clerk with the Kenton County Health Department and a member of Erlanger Christian Church. Her husband, Everett Kidwell, died in 2003. A son, Curtley W. Kidwell, died in 1997.
Survivors include sons, Clarence L. Kidwell of El Paso, Texas, and John E. Kidwell of Coffeeville, Kan.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Erlanger Christian Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Erlanger.
Elmer Michael Kremer, 81, of Covington, died March 18 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla. He was a retired builder and developer with Ebcon Co. and Kremer Construction Co., and a Navy veteran of World War II. A daughter, Linda Defazzio, died in 1995.
Survivors include his wife, Shelby Taylor Kremer; a daughter, Jennifer Iulg of Lexington; a son, Thomas Kremer of Fort Thomas; a stepson, Richard McClannahan of Falmouth; a brother, Raymond Kremer of Bellevue; and five grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Church, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Bruce W. Riegler, 59, of Burlington, died at 3:17 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a parts manager and Paul Michels and Sons, Hebron, and KOI Auto Parts in Latonia. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Ann Lang Riegler.
Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger.
Visitation will begin there at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Riegler donated his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
