Allie Brock Keene, owned beauty shop
Allie Brock Keene enjoying styling hair so much that she did it until she was 78.
Mrs. Keene, 89, of Sharonville, Ohio, formerly of Fort Wright, died Sunday at Hospice of Cincinnati.
She became a beautician around the age of 20 and eventually opened her own salon, Allie's Beauty Shop in Fort Wright, said a son, John L. Keene, of Independence.
He said she enjoyed chatting with all her customers, most of whom were around her age and also lived in Fort Wright.
Mrs. Keene became the sole caretaker for her two sons when her husband, Lloyd Robert Keene, died in 1968. When the family business, Keene Furniture Store in Ludlow, went bankrupt after his father's death, his mother insisted on paying off the debt, John Keene said..
"She was not one of those people that would let bankruptcy take care of a debt, " he said.
His mother set up a college fund for each of her seven grandchildren.
"She was a very determined, a very giving person, " he said.
A son, Robert Edward Keene, preceded her in death.
In addition to her son and seven grandchildren, survivors include another son, Bill Keene of Loveland, Ohio, and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at IOOF Cemetery, Jonesville.
Robert R. Arens, 76, of Fort Wright, died Saturday at his home.
He was a retired troubleshooter with Cincinnati Gas & Electric and a member of the 898 LST Association and Kehoe Council Knights of Columbus. He was a retired volunteer with the Florence Fire Department. A daughter, Beverly Arens, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Vogt Arens; daughters, Peggy Butler of Walton, Barbara Moore of Union, Lisa Waldroff of Williamstown, Vickie Ramler and Beth Ripley, both of Burlington; sons, Robert L. Arens of Morning View, William Arens of Florence and Mike Arens of Hebron; a sister, Helen Arens of Covington; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Burlington. A reception will follow at the Acree Knights of Columbus Hall, next to the church. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

John Galen Arrasmith Jr., 56, of Burlington, died Sunday at his home. He was the owner of Spotted Horse Reproduction television consulting firm and a member of Belleview Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Cheryl Lynn Arrasmith-Lee and Summer Storm Arrasmith, both of Cincinnati; his mother, Leila Marjorie "Margie" Arrasmith of Burlington; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Paris Cemetery. Mary "Mugs" Bond Bishop, 88, of Owenton, died Sunday at Robertson County Health Care Center, Mount Olivet. She was a retired teacher with Owen County schools and a member of the Owenton Retired Teachers Association. Her husband, Ed Bishop, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Floyd McDanell; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald and New Funeral Home, Seminary Street location, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton.
Gregory A. Chisenhall, 45, of Covington, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
He was an aircraft and power plant technician and an inspector with Lunken Airport in Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Hargus Chisenhall; sons, Jeremy Chisenhall of Columbus, Ohio, Michael Chisenhall and Jason Chisenhall, both of Bromley; a daughter, Natasha Chisenhall of Bromley; brothers, Robert "Tarz" Chisenhall of Covington and Rodney Chisenhall of Science Hill; sisters, Patricia Dungan of San Augustine, Texas, Francis Cook of Dry Ridge and Deborah Deering of California; and two grand-children.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Church, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

George Winfred Mattingly Jr., 63, of Georgetown, died Saturday at Hospice Care Center, Lexington.
He was a retired employee of IBM and a member of Church of the Annunciation, Lexington.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Coy Mattingly; sons, George W. Mattingly III of Atlanta and Christopher Joseph Mattingly of Lexington; his mother, Nancy Thompson Roberts of Erlanger; a sister, Kay Puckett of Las Vegas; a brother, William Mattingly of Florence; and three grandchildren.

Jennifer Gayle McCracken, 46, of Erlanger, died Sunday at her home.
She was an employee of Air Serve at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and a member of Holy Cross Church, Latonia.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel E. McCracken; sons, Joshua Merrill of Independence and Benjamin Merrill of Florence; stepsons, Matthew McCracken of Union and Conner McCracken of Bossier City, La.; her mother, Audrey Klare Gangwish of Lakeside Park; a brother, Dale Klare of Independence; a stepbrother, Richard Gangwish II of Erlanger; a sister, Peggy Williams of Independence; a stepsister, Rene Bricking of Taylor Mill; and two step-grandchildren.

Joan Miller, 75, of Crescent Springs, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
She was a supervisor with AT&T; and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. A son, Daniel Miller, and a daughter, Jo Anne Steer, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Storer of Covington, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Talbott; sons, Jesse Tucker, Johnny Tucker and Roger Tucker, all of Latonia; brothers, John Schmidt, Michael Schmidt and Kenneth Schmidt, all of Covington; sisters, Mary Kennedy, Emily Walls, Sandra Kalfas, Kathy Corman and Florence Kelly, all of Covington; and three grandchildren.

Ruby Webster, 82, of Latonia, died at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
She was a homemaker and a member of Latonia Baptist Church.
Her husband, Glenn Webster, died in 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Patton of Latonia; two grandchildren and three great-grand-children.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glencoe Cemetery.
