Opal Roseberry
1919-2001
Opal Rayburn Roseberry, 81, of Olive Hill, died Tuesday at her home.
Mrs. Roseberry was born Aug. 12, 1919, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Dustin and Etta Mae Elam Rayburn.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Grover D. Roseberry, in 1985, a son, David Roseberry, and a daughter, Wanda Jean Roseberry.
She was a member of Flat Fork Church of God.
Surviving are two sons, Phillip Roseberry of Frankfort and Lewis "Marty" Roseberry of Olive Hill; seven daughters, Violet Markwell, Karen Burchett, Frances Conkwright and Kathy Wagoner, all of Olive Hill, Janet Adkins of Sandy Hook, Mary Logan of Vanceburg, and Etta Zornes of Emerson; two sisters, Louise Orcutt and Christine Logan, both of Olive Hill; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill by Gayle Price, Delmar Logan Jr., Bobby Butler and Elijah Wagoner. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call today, Friday and until time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Andrew Reed Rowe
Andrew Reed Rowe, 70, superintendent at the steel mill from 1910 to 1924, died Saturday at his home in 407 Braddock Rd., Forest Hill, Pa.
Retired superintendent of a rolling mill in McKeesport, Pa., Mr. Rowe was a steel mill superintendent in Midland, Pa., from 1924 to 1937.
Mr. Rowe was born July 14, 1877 in Phoenixville, Pa., to the late Henry Harrison and Ella Reed Rowe. He was married
to Eleanor Jeffords, who survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Esther V. Jones of Plymouth, Ind., Mrs. Bertha Jones of Forrest Hills, Mrs. Bessie J. Herlinger of Townville, Pa., Mrs. Ellamae R. Rowe of Beaver, Pa., and Mrs. Ruth E. Fern of Gainesville, Fla.; a sister, Miss Jessie M. Rowe of Philadelphia, Pa.; two brothers, Lyle H. of Portsmouth and Harry R. of Birmingham, Mich., and 12 grandchildren.
He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church at McKeesport.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday in Daehler Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. John MacLeod officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Funeral services will also be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hunter Funeral Home at McKeesport, where friends may call today.

Mrs. Eleanor Rowe
Services for Mrs. Eleanor C. Rowe, 84, of Culver, Ind., a former Portsmouth resident are to be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Daehler Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Sharp officiating.
Mrs. Rowe died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, at Plymouth, Ind., following a brief illness.
A longtime resident of Pittsburg, Pa., she was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church at Culver.
Preceded in death by her husband, Andrew, in 1957, she is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Esther Jones of Plymouth, Mrs. Bertha Jones of Culver, Mrs. Bessie Herlinger of Johnston, Pa., Mrs. Ellamae Rowe of Phoenixville, Pa., and Mrs. Ruth Ferm of Etha, N. H.; two sisters, Mrs. Cornelius Russell and Mrs. J. Edward Butler both or Portsmouth; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Burial is to be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Funeral Monday
The body of Reed Rowe, Jr., 11 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Rowe of Midland, Pa., who died Friday of pneumonia will arrive here tonight and will be conveyed to the home of the grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Jeffords, of 633 Fifth street, where the last rites will be held Monday at 3 p.m. Interment will be in Greenlawn. Mrs. and Mrs. Rowe (Ellnor Jeffords) are former well known residents of Portsmouth.

Mrs. Mary E. Royster
Greenup, June 16 - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Royster, 37, wife of Sebastian Royster, who died at 4:30 p. m. Thursday at her home following a year’s illness, were to be held at 3 p.m. today at Three Prong cemetery with Rev. Denbo Smith officiating.
Mrs. Royster is survived by her husband and seven children.

WILLIAM K. RUARK
A former Portsmouth resident, William Kibb Ruark, 77, died early today at his home at 222 Sixth Ave. in Dayton, Ky. Death followed a short illness.
Born Feb. 22, 1881, at Vanceburg, Ky., he was a son of William and Mary Ruark.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie Jeffords Ruark, and a brother, R. J. Ruark, of Columbus, Ohio.
Mr. Ruark was a member of the Syain Temple in Cincinnati and was a retired employee of the Railway Express Co. He was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge at Cynthiana, Ky., and the Scottish Rite of Covington.
A musician, Mr. Ruark was also a member of the Shrinse's Band, and Smitty's Band, an organization which plays at the major league baseball games in Cincinnati.
Funeral services are to be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Daehler Funeral Home with burial following in Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday.

Bobbi Ruggles, 34
Bobbi Sue “Boo Boo” Damron Ruggles, 34 of Franklin Furnace, did Nov. 21, 2004, at home.
She was born Oct. 30, 1970, in Portsmouth to Bob Damron of Franklin Furnace and the late Rhonda Lowder Damron, July 20, 2000.
Survivors include her grandfather, Virgil “Gene” and the late Cora Potter Lowder, Jan 30, 1999, who reared her; two daughters, Misty Lee Dawn Ruggles and Latosha Leighanne Ruggles; one son, James Alva Ruggles; and her children’s father, Alva Ruggles all of Piketon; stepgrandmother Connie Lowder, and great grandmother, Iowa Pack Potter, both of Wheelersburg; one brother James “Fuzzy” Damron of Lucasville; one sister Mandy Bentley of Portsmouth; two uncles, Faris (Joan) Lowder of Vermilion and Larry (Carly) Lowder of Wheelersburg; three aunts, Debbie (George) Turner, Marvie Lowder and Sandi (Tony) Lang, all of Wheelersburg, who were like her brothers and sisters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a 1989 graduate of Wheelersburg High School and a CNA at Golden Years Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home, 509 South Sixth St., Ironton, with Pastor Ron Blevins officiating. Burial will be in Waring cemetery in Garrison, Ky. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Verona Haney Ruplinnger, daughter of Pete and Barbia Legill Haney, was born February 24, 1882, at Harper, Iowa, and departed this life Wednesday, Jjuly 17, 1974, at Graham Hospital in Keokuk at the age of 92.
She had resided a number of years at the Shady Rest nursing home in Bonaparte, and more recently in Keokuk Manor at Keokuk. Most of her life was spent in Van Buren county.
Her husband, Charles, preceeded her in death.
Survivors include three nephews, William and Charles Haney, both of Keosauqua and David Mcgaffey of Washington, Iowa, and a niece, Mrs. Will Poling of Cantril.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 19, 1974, at 10:00 a.m. at pedrick Funeral home in Keosauqua with the Rev. Harold Schnedler of the Congregational Church officiating. Interment was in Pittsburg Cemetery.

David Russell
David C. Russell of Indianapolis, Ind., died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000 at home.
He was born in Portsmouth. He worked for 25 years retiring in 1991. He was a Korean War Navy Veteran, a 1952, graduate of Xavier University and member of the Knights of Columbus St. Joseph Council, Pride of Indy Men’s Barbershop Chorus and St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Annette D. Russell; three daughters, Joan E. Smith, Linda M. Miller and Janet L. Stewart; three sons, Kevin D. Russell, Patrick J. Russell and Christopher Russell; two brothers, Paul Russell and George Russell; two sisters, Anna Duplain and Sister Janet Russell; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church in Indianapolis, with Interment in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park East Mortuary, 10722 East Washington St., Indianapolis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church Capital Campaign.

George Russell
South Portsmouth – George W. Russell, 84 of South Portsmouth, died at 8:03 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, in Scioto Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Russell was born Feb. 9, 1900, in Lewis County, a son of the late George and Millie Russell.
He was a retired employee of the Chessie System and a member of the Garrison United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Harrison Russell; a son Roy Russell of Dothan, Ala.; a daughter, Mrs. Doris Cox of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore by the Rev. Donald Riggs. Burial was in the Collier Memorial Garden at South Portsmouth.

Louise C. "Lucy" Russell, 100, of Cincinnati, a former Portsmouth resident, died Monday, Aug. 5, 1991, at a Cincinnati hospital.
Born Dec. 16, 1890, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Charles and Victoria Ehret Jeffords, she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
Preceded in death Nov. 14, 1965, by her husband, C.W. "Neil" Russell, survivors include three sons, Paul Russell of Hollywood, Fla., George Russell Sr. of Wheelersburg, and David Russell of Indianapolis, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Anna) Duplain of Portsmouth, Mrs. Miles (Jean) Turner of Melbourne, Fla., and Sister Janet Russell of Mouth St. Joseph, Cincinnati; a sister, Alma Butler of Sarasota, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Maroon officiating, and interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Melcher Funeral Home, where recitation of rosary is planned at 8 p.m. Thursday.
