Peter Boudreau, loved to cook, play golf

Peter Boudreau was a New Yorker who loved Kentucky, an executive who did the Krogering on Saturday and a great husband and father.

Peter Paul Boudreau, 51, of Florence died Friday at his home from complications of melanoma.

He was vice president of business development for CA One Services and a member of Hebron Lutheran Church.

His work in airport concessions for the subsidiary of the Buffalo, N.Y.-based Delaware North Company took him to airports throughout the country, including Newark, Milwaukee, Nashville and Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport. He traveled for his business Monday through Friday.

His business contacts are far and wide, his wife Barbara Boudreau said, but the couple had lived in Florence for 11 years and just loved the town.

The proud father had been determined to make it to the upcoming graduations of two of his children, Lindsay Boudreau, 22, who will graduate mid-month from Vanderbilt on her way to medical school at University of Louisville and Peter Boudreau, 18, who will graduate from Boone County High School on May 27.

Though he won't be using the oncologist-prescribed wheelchair and handicapped parking sticker to attend the ceremonies, "he will have the best seat in the house, " Barbara Boudreau feels certain. Peter Boudreau had first been diagnosed with melanoma in 1997 and had been fairly healthy until recently.

Though his work saw him attending to the hospitality needs of fast-moving travelers, his first love was cooking. He graduated from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., and went on to get a bachelor's in hotel and restaurant management from the University of New Haven.

"On Saturday and Sunday, he had four of his high school friends from New York come visit. He fixed steaks for them on Friday, cooked eggs for them Sunday and by 3:45 p.m., he had passed away, " his wife said.

A dedicated golfer, Boudreau's favorite course was the Jack Nicklaus-designed Grizzly course at the Golf Center at Kings Island. "He loved to golf. He's going to be laid out in his favorite golf outfit, " Barbara Boudreau said.

"He was the best husband and dad in the whole world."

In addition to his wife, a pre-school teacher's assistant at New Haven Elementary School in Union and Lindsay and Peter, he is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Boudreau, 23, a Ph.D. candidate in political science at the University of California San Diego.
