Raymond Kleine Jr., artist, patriotic singer
Raymond C. Kleine Jr., loved to sing for anyone who would listen.
He loved singing so much that he was planning to sing "Daddy's Little Girl" at his granddaughter's wedding this weekend in New Jersey.
Mr. Kleine, 75, of Elsmere, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
His sister, Janet Niehaus of Taylor Mill, said her brother was the highlight of the family's Derby party last weekend when he sang all night on a karaoke machine. She said his favorite song to perform was "My Way, " by Frank Sinatra.
"He was just marvelous to all of us, " she said.
Mr. Kleine had two other loves in his life: his wife, Shirley, and his country.
Niehaus said her brother was married
for 55 years and dearly missed his wife, who died March 18. .
"He loved to be around people and he loved Shirley, " she said. "I think he just missed his wife."
Mr. Kleine, a Navy veteran, always wore a hat with a flag on it and would stop at somebody's house if he saw the flag flying the wrong way to show the resident how to fix it.
The entire family also had big parties every Fourth of July in Michigan. Last year, Niehaus said, the party was even bigger because they also celebrated the birthdays of Mr. Kleine and his wife.
