Eugene Richardson, deacon, 'always there'
Eugene Richardson was a church deacon who delivered meals to elderly people, ran errands for folks in need, and had a smile for everybody.
"I knew him 22 years, and he was about the most perfect person I've ever met, " said Len Civin of Cynthiana, Mr. Richardson's brother-in-law.
Mr. Richardson, 68, of Cynthiana, died Friday at his home.
He was a retired employee of Grede Perm Cast and a deacon with Victory Baptist Church in Cynthiana.
"He was very active in the church, " said Mr. Civin. "After he received communion and got involved in the church, that was his life from then on.
"He would do anything he could for anybody. He was always right there. People liked him because he was extremely friendly and had a great sense of humor. He would have you laughing in a minute."
Mr. Richardson had a "great outlook on life, " said Mr. Civin.
"He loved everybody, " he said. "He made everybody happy who was around him."
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Oakley Richardson; sons, Donnie Richardson of Cynthiana and Larry Richardson of Nicholasville; sisters, Minnie Strausbaugh, Ruby Lyons and Wanda Civin, all of Cynthiana; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana.

Nancy Eleanor Bankes, 75, of Wilder, died Saturday at her home.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, William F. Bankes; sons, Ammed Solomon of Colloden, W.Va., and Mark Solomon of Alexandria; a stepson, William Bankes Jr. of Springboro, Ohio; daughters, Melinda Swift of Alexandria, April Solomon and Melody Schiltz, both of Cold Spring, and Sandra Solomon of Fort Thomas; a stepdaughter, Deborah Smith of Goshen, Ohio; a sister, Margaret Stubenvoll of Palm Bay, Fla.; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Cremation will be at Southwest Ohio Crematory, Milford, Ohio. Tonda Lane Barnhill, 39, of Newport, died Friday at her home.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Jason Barnhill of Covington; brothers, Ricky Crittenden of Covington, Dale Barnhill of Melbourne and Jamie Walker of Independence; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 2 p.m.
Helen Courtney, 83, of Covington, died at 9:50 a.m. Saturday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia.
She was a homemaker. Her husband, Carlos Courtney, died in 1960.
Survivors include a son, Danny Courtney of Latonia; daughters, Barbara Schlachter of Fort Mitchell and Carol Schoepf; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
Anna Rose Hartley, 74, of Vanceburg, died at 1 a.m. Sunday at Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mays-ville. She was a homemaker and attended Cottageville Mission Church.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Estel Hartley; a son, Michael Hartley of Maysville; a daughter, Marsha Hartley of McGowan, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Tollesboro.

Robert C. Holyoke, 79, of Florence, died Saturday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Cincinnati. He was a construction and remodeling manager with Harpenau Hotels and a member of Grace Baptist Church, Florence.
Survivors include his wife, Willa M. Holyoke; daughters, Kathy Aylor of Indianapolis, Terry Haynes of Foster, Peggy Miller and Judy Raines, both of Walton; a son, Jim Holyoke of Atlanta; sisters, Joyce Ehmet of Crescent Springs, Helen Garmon of Covington, Ann Kroger of Alexandria, Sadie McKibben of Fort Mitchell and Margaret Vickers of Florence; a brother, Jerry Holyoke of Erlanger; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Erlanger.

Harold G. Howard, 81, of Mays Lick, died at 10:15 p.m. Saturday at his home.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Florene Staniford Howard; a son, Woodford Howard of Maysville; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home, Mays Lick. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery, Maysville.

Norma Patterson Imwalle, 72, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Covington, died at 6:10 a.m. Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital, Plano. She was a communications advisor with AT&T; in New Orleans.
Survivors include sons, William M. Imwalle II of Plano and John J. Imwalle of Birmingham, Ala.; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.

Clifton D. Matthews, 43, of Alexandria, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday at his home. He was a truck driver with McLaine Food Distributor, Hebron, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Armstrong Matthews; a son, Parker Matthews of Alexandria; his parents, Clifford Matthews of Cold Spring and Georgia Marie Matthews Brock of Newport; brothers, Darrell Matthews of Southgate, Gary Matthews of Augusta, and Kevin Matthews of Independence; sisters, Sabrina Holcomb of Milford, Ohio, Donna Bassett of Cold Spring, Jenny Sharp of Independence and Dianne Matthews of Newport.

Marjorie R. Plageman, 91, of Covington, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
She was a bookkeeper with in the office of Dr. George Donovan in Erlanger. A son, Donald B. Plageman, died in 1982.
Survivors include sons, Paul A. Plageman of Cincinnati, Joseph W. Plageman of Venice, Fla., Richard L. Plageman of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Eileen Whitfield of Connecticut; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Rogers, 63, of Cincinnati, died Tuesday at Mercy Franciscan Hospital, Cincinnati. Her husband, Eddie Rogers, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Glenn Rogers, Raymond Rogers and Hollis Rogers, all of Cincinnati; daughters, Lola Walls of Eubank, Betty Lee Rogers of Cincinnati and Theresa Rogers of Florida; brothers, Bill Walls, Raymond Walls and Hubert Walls, all of Cincinnati, and Bobby Walls of Texas; a sister, Oletha Walls of Falmouth; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harold L. Sechrest, 89, of Williamstown, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County, Williamstown.
He was a custodian and bus driver with Williamstown Independent Schools and a member of Williamstown Christian Church. His wife, Lorene Gordon Sechrest, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Epperson of Dry Ridge; a son, David Sechrest of Dry Ridge; a brother, Ray E. Sechrest of Williamstown; a sister, Edna Ruth Wallace of Williamstown; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

Ronald Lee Works, 61, of Alexandria, died Sunday at his home.
He was a retired supervisor with the Norfolk Southern Railroad, Cincinnati, and an employee of Kenny's Collision, Alexandria. He was a member of the Bob White Club in Alexandria and an Army veteran.
Survivors include sons, Bruce Works of Fort Thomas and Richie Works of Alexandria; a sister, Jean Glahn of Alexandria; a brother, Jim Works of Alexandria; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.
