Edwin Robinson, 90, founded glass company

Edwin Joseph Robinson would tell his sons to stick with what they started. After serving with the U.S. Army, Mr. Robinson, a World War II veteran, followed his own advice.

He returned to E.J. Robinson Glass Co., a Fort Thomas company he founded in 1938, and worked there until he retired in 1972.

Mr. Robinson, 90, died Saturday, May 22 at the Hospice Residence of Stuart, Fla.

Mr. Robinson, a Newport native, was very dedicated to the business of which he was president, and was "dedicated to his family, " said Larry Robinson, his son.

"There were two things important in his life: family and the business, " said Ted Robinson, his son. "And they were in that order."

While serving in the military, Mr. Robinson worked for the grounds crew. He served in New Guinea, Luzon, Leyte, Biak and Okinawa.

Mr. Robinson was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a variety of glass industry and building trade organizations.

"He did very much love the business, " Ted Robinson said.

His first wife, Luella Feldman Robinson, and a daughter, Mary Ellen Robinson, both preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Stella Dery Robinson; sons, Ted Robinson of Fort Thomas and Larry Robinson of Cold Spring; daughters, Karen Hannon of Littleton, Colo., Ruth Harvey of Cold Spring, and Sandra Meade of Frankfort; sisters, Mary Hoffman, Ann Robinson, and Pat Pitzer, all of Highland Heights; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Prayers will be at 10:30 a.m. at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Memorials are suggested to ALS Association, 27001 Aguora Road, Suite 150, Calabasas Hills, Calif. 91301-5104; or to the charity of donor's choice.

Cleo Webster Beach, 78, of Glencoe, died Monday at Grant Manor Care Center, Williamstown.

Arrangements are pending at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona.

James B. Bond, 77, of Florence, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

He was a retired driver from C.C.C. Trucking Co., Cincinnati. He was a member of Erlanger Christian Church, Good Faith Lodge F&AM;, Scottish Rite-Valley of Covington, Ashland Shrine, and Teamsters Union No. 100.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Culbertson Bond; a daughter, Deborah Bond Doth of Cleves, Ohio; a brother, Robert Bond of Union; a sister, Juanita Andress of Edgewood; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnett Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229-3095.

Jacqueline Sue Cooper, 26, of Covington, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospital South, Edgewood.

Survivors include her fianc�, Ben Hure of Covington; sons, William Coffey and Jacob Coffey, both of Latonia; a daughter, Sandra Coffey of Independence; adoptive parents, Jerry and Drusilla Jones of Elsmere; stepmother, Teresa Cooper of Covington; grandmother, Margie Hall of Covington; brothers, Jackie Cooper of Covington, Louis Cooper and Matt Jones, both of Elsmere; and sisters, Brandi Cooper of Dade City, Fla., Alicia Cooper and Melissa Cooper, both of Covington.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Jacqueline Sue Cooper Memorial Fund, c/o C&O; Credit Union, 3029 Dixie Highway, Suite 100, Edgewood, Ky. 41017.

Sarah Carter Hall Doker, 90, of Covington, died March 1 at St. Elizabeth Hospital North, Covington. She was a retired sacristan with the Diocese of Covington. She was a member of Mother of God Church, Covington, and the St. Elizabeth Society. Her husband, Philip J. Doker, and a daughter, Phyllis Stuther, both preceded her in death

Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Welles of Covington, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Wednesday at Mother of God Church, Covington. There is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, Tenn. 38173-0704. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling the arrangements.

Zelma Marie "Mee Maw" Ferguson, 69, of Walton, died Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.

She was a homemaker and retired owner of Fergie's Restaurant, Walton. Her husband, Jim Ferguson, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Mike Ferguson of Walton; a brother, Tommy Biddle of Sunrise; sisters, Betty Smith of Falmouth, Brenda Eckler of Paris, and Toni Templeton of Cynthiana; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Covington.

Memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, Suite 1100, New York, N.Y. 10016.

Chance Green, 5, of Augusta, died Saturday at Children's Hospital, Cincinnati.

Survivors include his father, Patrick Green, and stepmother, Patty Moorhead, of Mount Olivet; his mother, Nicole Elliott, and stepfather, Johnny Jackson, of Augusta; paternal grandparents, George Green and Theresa Burns; maternal grandparents, Steve and Joan Holbrook; a sister, Tristin Green; a stepbrother, Joshua Green, and a stepsister, Jessica Green.

Services will be at 5 p.m. today at Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville.

Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. today.

He will be cremated.

Margie Lee Holcomb, 52, of Melbourne, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

She was a cafeteria worker at A.J. Jolly Elementary School, California.

Her husband, Ronald B. Holcomb, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Todd Jenkins and Jesse Holcomb, both of Melbourne; her mother, Dolores Hartman of Peach Grove; a sister, Alice Mullen of Peach Grove; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.

Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Thursday.

She will be cremated.

Memorials are suggested to Holly Hill Children's Services, 9599 Summer Hill Road, California, Ky. 41007; or Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

William Knoebber, 92, of Kenton Vale, died Monday at his residence.

Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.

Deborah F. Linne, 49, of Mount Washington, Ohio, formerly of Covington, died Friday at Hospice of Cincinnati.

Arrangements are pending at Allison & Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill.

William Davis McPherron, 80, of Frankfort, died Monday at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

He was a former security guard with Williamson and a member of the North Frankfort Baptist Church.

Survivors include brothers, Harold McPherron of Milton and Glenn McPherron of Powell, Tenn., and a sister, Margaret Tucker of Lebanon.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald & New Funeral Home, Owenton.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Owenton Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10006.

Robert C. Miller, 57, of Bellevue, died Sunday at Northern Kentucky Care & Rehab Center, Highland Heights.

He was a musician.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Miller; a daughter, Melissa Bailey of Latonia; stepsons, Bobby Larry of Florence, Jamie Larry of Latonia, and Erik Novotni of Cincinnati; stepdaughters, Sarah Novotni of Bellevue and Jackie Miller of Arkansas; a sister, Alta Jacob of Newport; a stepsister, Diana Bearse of California; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport, is handling the arrangements.

John Roger Moore Sr., 74, of Fort Wright, died Saturday at his residence.

He was a retired accountant and owner of McHenry Carry Out.

A daughter, Marguerite Hinzman, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Moore; a son, John Moore, Jr., of Villa Hills; daughters, Susan James of Villa Hills, Beth Kloentrup and Jan McHale, both of Fort Wright; brothers, Phillip Moore of Erlanger, Shelley Moore and Morgan Moore, both of Crestview Hills; sisters, Fern Schweer of Erlanger and Marie Neiman of Fort Mitchell; and 14 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Church, Covington.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger.

Burial will be in St. Mary's, Fort Mitchell.

Edward Bernard Ollberding, 80, of Dayton, died Sunday at his residence.

He was a retired caretaker as well as a member at St. Bernard Church, Dayton, and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Brookbank Ollberding; sons, Paul Ollberding of Corinth, Carl Ollberding of McConnelsburg, Penn., Joe Ollberding of Lennoxburg, Edward Ollberding, Mark Ollberding, and Brian Ollberding, all of Dayton; daughters, Mary Connor of Cincinnati, Beth Mozell of Wakefield, Mass., and Peggy Dunn of Dayton; a sister, Janet Maxwell of Bellevue; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bernard Church.

Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Memorials are suggested to St. Bernard Church, Fifth and Berry Street, Dayton, Ky. 41074.

A.C. Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling the arrangements.

Amanda Russell, 27, of Butler, died Sunday at her residence.

Survivors include her husband, David A. Russell; parents, Mike and Trena Roberts of Grants Lick; grandmothers, Delcie Roberts and Viola Kidwell, both of Butler; a brother, Kieth Roberts of Independence; and a sister, Angela Works of Fort Thomas.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in Butler Cemetery.

Michael K. Shepherd, 47, of Newport, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

Survivors include his mother, Virginia Shakleford Downard of Newport, and sisters, Kimberly Smith and Connie Turner, both of Newport.

Services will be at noon Thursday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport.

Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Vera McGovern Still, 86, of Erlanger, died Friday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Kersten O'Day VFW No. 2899 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Kersten O'Day Ladies Drill Team.

Her husband, James E. Still, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Edward Still of Dayton; daughters, Shirley Ann Granger of Erlanger and Vera Mae Dammert of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Martha M. Thomas, 81, of Covington, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

She was a retired waitress from Chum's Restaurant.

Her husband, Joseph Thomas, preceded her in death.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick.

There is no visitation.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home, Covington, is handling the arrangements.

Lester David Whalen, 65, of Erlanger, died Friday at his residence.

He was a realtor with Huff Realty and a member of Erlanger Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen J. Whalen; sons, David H. Whalen of Latonia and Derek T. Whalen of Erlanger; a daughter, Dara Michelle Breeden of Erlanger; a sister, Irene Glasscock of Seminole, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home, Erlanger.

Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
