Rick Lowder
Rick Lowder, 39, of Columbus, died Saturday, Jane. 23, 1993, at home.
Born March 8, 1953, in Portsmouth, a son of the Wilma Anderson Lowder of Waverly, and the late Dow Lowder, he was a pipefitter with the Empire Fire Protection Co., of Delaware and a 1971 graduate of Columbus North High School.
Survivors also include his wife Janet S. McKee Lowder; three sons, Terry A. Baldwin of Palm Desert Calif., and Steven D. Baldwin and Rickey D. Lowder, both of Columbus; a daughter, Brandy D. Lowder of Columbus; two brothers, Frank E. Lowder of Minford and Dow Lowder Jr. of Waverly, two sisters, Brenda Lowder of Obetz and Sharon Bartley of Columbus; and a grandmother, Lillie Anderson of Lucasville Route 4.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville, with Don Ellis, minister, officiating, and interment in Anderson Family cemetery on Kinstler Road, Lucasville Route 4.

Portsmouth Times, Thursday, Jan. 23, 1941
Rome Lauder
Death at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday claimed Rome Lauder at his home on Great Meadow road near Ashley Corner. He had been ill a week with pneumonia.
Mrs. Lauder was born March 29, 1882, in Greenup county. He was a son of William and Lylie Lauder. Mr. Lauder was a WPA worker.
Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Ida Lauder; four children, Farris and Mrs. Agnes Smith of New Boston, Mrs. Opal Cook of Great Meadow road, and a daughter Pearl at home. A son, William, preceded the father. Also surviving are two brothers, John, of Greenup, and Ben of Columbus and four sisters, Mrs. Tilda Broguer of Beaver, Mrs. Mary McLess of Lewis county, and Mrs. Lylie Music of Iowa.
The body is at the home of the son Farris, 3930 Stanton avenue, New Boston.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Union Freewill Baptist church, with Rev. Selven Percell in charge. Burial in Vernon cemetery will be under the direction of McCurdy & Scott.

Thurman Lowder, 86, retired mail carrier
Thurman B. Lowder, 86, of Wheelersburg, a former South Shore (Ky.) resident, died Sunday, May 7, 1995, at the Greenbriar Convalescent Center.
Born Dec. 23, 1908, in Lewis County, Ky., a son of the late Jasper D. and Lillian Howland Lowder, he was a retired mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service, a member of James L. Flannery Post American Legion and South Shore First Christian Church, and a World War II Army veteran.
Preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bowman Lowder, June 6, 1990, he is survived by two sons, Winford Lowder of South Shore and Thurman B. Lowder Jr. of Gibsonville, N.C.; a daughter, Sharon Wagner of Wheelersburg; two brothers, Jack Lowder of Quincy, Ky., and Dorsel Lowder of South Shore; two sisters, Hazel LeMaster of Quincy and Clemintine Wilson of Vanceburg, Ky.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a brother; Roland O. Lowder.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Quincy (Ky.) Christian Church, with Phil LeMaster, minister, officiating, and interment in Sunset cemetery at Quincy, with military graveside rites by James L. Flannery Post.
Friends may call at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the services Wednesday.

Shirley Lowder
Infant Daughter Dies in Local Hospital
Shirley Carolyn Lowder, day old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Lowder of Quincy, died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in Mercy hospital. Funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. and burial was in Howland cemetery at Quincy under the direction of J. R. Morton & Son.

Guy Lytten
Guy Lytten, 31, of Hill st. North Moreland, employee of the Western & Southern Life Insurance Co., passed away at 8 a.m. today in Portsmouth General hospital, where he underwent an appendectomy last Wednesday.
Born July 16, 1913, in Sandy Hook, Ky., he moved with his family to New Boston at the age of 10. He was a son of Mrs. May Lytten, 3864 Rhodes av., New Boston and the late John Lytten.
Mr. Lytten was a member of First Church of God in New Boston. Surviving besides his mother are his wife, the former Daisy Montgomery and two brothers, Walter of Beaumont, Tex., and Luther, 3864 Rhodes av.
Sowards' funeral home is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Guy Lytten
Last rites for Guy Lytten, 31, of Hill St. North Moreland, who passed away Saturday, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Church of God in New Boston. Interment will follow in Memorial Park cemetery. The body will remain at the residence until the funeral hour.

Dyer
Vanceburg, Ky. -- Services are to be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Laurel Point Church near Vanceburg for James Wiley Dyer, 78, of Camp Dix, who died at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Clair Hospital in Morehead. Rev. Keith Blair is to officiate.
A native of Lewis County, Dyer was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Icy Florence Stone Dyer; two sons, Rev. W. H. Dyer of Woodville, Ohio, and Charles Wade Dyer of Carthage, Ind.; five daughters, Mrs. Molley Caudy of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Rosemary Ellsworth of McCordsville, Ind., Mrs. Morta Williams, Mrs. Margaret Smalley and Mrs. Mardy Richmond, all of Carthage; four sisters, Mrs. Delphia Stone of Emerson, Mrs. Lillie Bloomfield of Camp Dix, Mrs. Leona McGuire of Mansfield, Ohio, Mrs. Zela Kennedy of Wellston, Ohio; 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call the Dickerson Funeral Home here today. Interment is to be in Morgan Cemetery.

Joseph Dyer, 37
Joseph Lee Dyer, 37, of North Olmsted, a former Portsmouth resident, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at his residence.
He was born June 23, 1962 in Portsmouth, a son of Homer C. "Bud" Dyer Jr. and Wavel Wright Dyer. He was he manager of Walgreens in Cleveland. He was a 1980 graduate of Portsmouth High School and also a graduate of Morehead State (Ky.) University.
He is also survived by a son, Jared Dyer of North Olmsted; a step daughter, Lindsay Henderson of North Olmsted, three brothers, John Alan Dyer of Virginia Beach, Va., and James Brian Dyer of York, S.C.; a sister, Martha Jane Cremeans of Portsmouth.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999 at Greenlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Greg Paugh officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home, Inc., of Portsmouth was in charge of arrangements.

Dyer
Service is 1 p.m. Sunday at Dickerson Funeral Home at Vanceburg, Ky., for Luther Dyer, 89, of Emerson, Ky.
Dyer died Wednesday at the home of a neice, Velva Zornes of Emerson, after a long illness. A native of Vanceburg, he was a retired farmer.
Surviving are a brother, Wince Dyer of Bucyrus; and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Terry Dean is to officiate at the service, with burial in Hannable cemetery at Rock Run.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Saturday.

Dyer
Vanceburg, Ky. – Mearl Dyer, 73, of Head of Grassy, Vanceburg Rt. 1, died Thursday at a Morehead hospital.
A Lewis County native, he was a retired employee of Moore & White Lumber Co.
Preceded in death by his wife Reba White Dyer, in 1978, he is survived by a son, Carl of Vanceburg Rt. 1, four daughters, Avis Sparks of Bucyrus, Ohio, Lillian McRoberts of Vanceburg Rt. 1, Clara Lee Hamilton of Rush Rt. 1 and Doris Harris of Winchester; a brother, Earl of North Carolina; a sister, Ruby Burchett of Vanceburg Rt. 1; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Laurel Point Christian Holiness Church where services are planned at 2 p.m. Saturday, with Rev. Clifford Muse officiating, and burial in Morgan Cemetery.
Friends may call at Dickerson Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Dyer
South Shore, Ky. – Paul Dyer, 53, of South Shore, Route 1, died Thursday in Mercy Hospital form an apparent hear attack.
He was a native of Greenup County and an employee of the Chessie System.
His wife, Katherine Patton Dyer, died in June.
He is survived by two sons, Rocky Dyer of Portsmouth and an Carl Forrest Dyer of South Shore Route 1; a daughter Joelene Distel of West Portsmouth, Ohio; a brother Wayne Dyer of South Shore Route 1; four sisters, Thelma Karcher of South Shore Route 1, Bernice Dyer and Inez Martin of Portsmouth and Wanda Dyer of Ashland; and three grandchildren.
Service is to be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Roberson Funeral Home here, with the Rev. Ben Wadkins officiating, and burial in Siloam Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday and until the service Sunday at the funeral home.

Roscoe Dyer
Vanceburg, Ky. – Relatives have received word of the death of Roscoe Dyer, 48, in Springfield, Ohio.
Mr. Dyer died in Springfield of injuries received in an accident Tuesday.
He was born Aug. 20, 1910 in Rowan Co., Ky., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Dyer and was a construction worker.
Surviving are a wife, Mrs. Opal Carrington Dyer, eight sons, Orville, of Bucyrus, Ohio, James A. of South Portsmouth, Ky., Roscoe Jr., Russell A., Filliam, Randall D., Woodrow C. and Roy K. of Springfield, Ohio, and two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie R. Dyer and Barbara M. Dyer at home.
Also surviving are two brothers, Jim of Greenup and Clarence of Rock Run, Ky., and three sisters, Mrs. Veda Butler of Mansfield, Ohio, Mrs. Lonnie Moore and Mrs. Chloe Armstrong of Vanceburg.
Funeral services are to be held in Town Branch Church Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Claude Staggs, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Evans cemetery under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the funeral home.
