Eldean Horsley Paul, 69, of Frankfort, widow of Donald Paul, died Friday, June 7, 2002, in Largo, Fla., after a long illness.
A native of Greenup County, she was the daughter of Ruth Royster Horsley, Chillicothe, Ohio, and the late John Horsley. She was a retired employee of the Franklin County Board of Education and a member of the Grace Missionary Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Jonathan Paul, Frankfort; three daughters, Donna Wilhoite and Brenda Paul-Smith, both of Largo, Fla., and Pamela Gibson, Versailles; four brothers, Alford Horsley, Columbus, Ohio, Charles Horsley, Chillicothe, Ted Horsley, San Francisco, Calif., and Randy Horsley, Beaver Creek, Ohio; five sisters, Shirley Blanton, Springborough, Ohio, Margie White, Williamstown, Pearl Rhodes, Chillicothe, Colteen Collins, Ocala, Fla., and June (Helen) Roberts, Salvisa; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Services were conducted Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel, Frankfort, by the Rev. Buddy White. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were Ted Horsley, Alfred Horsley, Charles Horsley, Randy Horsley, Elmer Collins, and Nathan Paul.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Greentown-Ronald W. Pendland, 67, Greentown, died 2:25 p.m. Friday May 28, 2004 in Howard Regional Health Systems, Kokomo. He was born March 25, 1937, in Fleming County, Kentucky the son of Charles and Orva (Williams) Pendlum. He married Mildred Simms of Maysville, Kentucky on June 12, 1954 and she survives.
He retired from Chrysler Transmission Kokomo in 1979, then owned and operated Airtight Insulation in Greentown until 1989. Then moved to Cartersville, GA, and was Warehouse Manager for Orchid Paper Company until 1995, then moved back to Kokomo where he worked for Auto Zone.
He was a member of First General Baptist Church in Kokomo UAW Local 685, a 25-year Mason of the Naphtali Lodge in Center and Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
Ron was a strong Christian and beautiful witness for the Lord to everyone he knew. A talented man who loved to restore cars and work with his hands. It was so important to him to be a Christian leader for his family and grandchildren. Family, friends, and neighbors could always count on him to be their "Prayer Warrior." His work for the Lord included a trip to Panama to help build a church for local missionaries, Dennis and Jeanne Cook. He lived his life’s dream when he and Millie toured Israel with a group from their church in Cartersville, Georgia in 1995. They were baptized in the River of Jordan on their 41st wedding anniversary. Ron will be greatly missed as a brother-in-law and uncle by all the Simms and Pendland family.
Surviving with his wife, Mildred, Kokomo; are his three daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela A. and Stephen K. Batey of Amboy; Sandra K and John A. Wiser of Moorpark, CA; and Rhonda G. and Timothy N. Thomson, of Fort Wayne; one brother and sister-in-law, Thamur E. and Idas (Roush) Pendland of Flemingsburg, Kentucky. Also surviving are four granddaughters, Cassie Dauehauer and Brittany Jagger; Megan Wisler; Jackie Batey; Christy Bunch and two great granddaughters, Alexis and Crystal Bunch.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thelmar B. Pendland, Charles Pendland, Jr. and Thurl E. Pendland, one sister, Edythe Young and his parents Charlie B. and Orva G. Pendland.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 1, 2004 in First General Baptist Church at noon with Pastor Brad Swain officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 31st at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral home. Masonic Services will be held at 8 p.m.. Memorial donations may be made to the First General Baptist Church Building Fund.

SAMUEL PENDLAND DIES
Samuel Pendland, aged 59 years, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Amanda Mahan in Lewis county near Emerson, Monday moring April 16, after an illness of one week of fever. Mr. Pendland had come here to Kentucky about three months ago to visit friends from Sabetha, Kansas, where he had lived for ten years, and had visited in Fleming, Mason, Bath, Rowan and Lewis Counties before his death.
He rushed the news to his home and his son, Hubert W. Pendland, who resides at Horton, Kansas came here Monday morning, arriving just three hours before his death, and he was able to know him and begged of him to take him back home, which, after his death, they called the local undertaker, Clarence Henderson, who went and got the body and brought it here, repared it for burial and shipped Tuesday morning to the home at Sabetha, Kansas, in charge of the son that had come to accompany him back home, but found him near death's door upon his arrival.
He leaves three sons, Hubert W. of Horton, Kansas; Oscar M. and Samual Clayton of Sabetha, Kansas; one daughter, Mrs. W. E. Hinton of Sabetha, Kansas; four brothers, George of Salt Lick, Ky., Will, Sherman and John of Golden Ridge and two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Mahan of Golden Ridge and Mrs. Susan Ray of Salt Lick, Ky. His wife was before her marriage, Miss Lillie Thompson.
The body is expected to arrive at Sabetha, Kansas, Thursday morning and will be buried beside that of his wife in the afternoon of the same day. They had hoped to get Rev. A. P. Hurst of Albany, Mo., to preach the funeral, who is an old friend of Mr. Pendland, but it seemed almost impossible, owing to the short time.

William Pendlum died at his home. Son of James Elick and Jane Pendlum he was born June 13, 1864 at Upper Tygart, KY, died February 17, 1947, age 82 years, 8 months and 4 days. Resident of Carter Co., KY all his live. He married Hannah Fannin, who proceeded him in death, October 24, 1945. Parents of seven children, three sons, four daughters, three of them having already passed away.
He leaves to mourn his passing, two sons, Charlie of Wallingford, KY and Roy of Upper Tygart, KY, two daughters, Lona of Emerson, KY and Bessie of Upper Tygart, KY, and leaves two sisters, Amanda Wright of Upper Tygart, KY and Sue Ray of Toledo, Ohio and one brother, Jim Pendlum of Indiana, twenty-nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

John D. Parsons
John Dillard Parsons, 69, retired farmer of Highland Bend, Sciotoville, died at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, following a stroke of paralysis which he suffered Saturday. He never rallied after being stricken.
Mr. Parsons was a native of Brushart, Ky., where he had served as justice of the peace. He came to this community about 16 years ago. He was a member of the Christian church at Brushart.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Fisher Parsons and these children: Mrs. Elza Cooper of New Boston, Mrs. John Sam Smith of Fullerton, Mrs. Forest Wooten of Scioto trail, B. D. Parsons of Niner Hill and H. B. Parsons of Elton, Wis.
He also leaves 25 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ida Musick of Brushart; a stepmother, Mrs. Dora Parsons of Schutlz, Ky., and two half-brothers, Wayne Parsons of Schultz and Woodrow Parsons of Brushart.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Christian church at Brushart with Rev. Denbo Smith officiating. Burial will be in Parsons cemetery there. Under the direction of J. R. Morton & Son. The body will be taken Thursday at 8 a.m. to Brushart.

Mrs. Jesse W. Partlow
Mrs. Julia Partlow, 73, of 1607 12th st. died in Mt. Carmel Hospital, Columbus, Sunday at 4;45 a.m.
Mrs. Partlow was born, Aug. 20 1876, a daughter of Frank and Julia Logan Dyer.
Surviving are the husband; three daughter, Dollie, Mrs. Lena Cottle both of Columbus and Mrs. Sue Eichelberger of North Caroline; a son Albert; a grandson.
Mrs. Partlow was a member of the Rebekah and the D. of A. Lodges and Trinity Methodist Church.
Funeral services are to be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lynn Funeral Home with Rev. C. O. Diehm in charge. Burial is to be Mound Cemetery, Piketon. The body is at the funeral home and the Rebekah Lodge will hold services there at 8 p.m. today.
