Juanita D. Kroger, 79, active in the community

Juanita D. Kroger didn't have a big garden, but she was a member of the Fort Mitchell Garden Club, as well as nine other Northern Kentucky organizations and clubs.

"She was always going somewhere, busy, busy, busy, " said her sister, Virginia Haake of Fort Mitchell.

A homemaker, Mrs. Kroger loved being around people and volunteering her time.

"She was warm and likeable and had a wonderful sense of humor, " Haake said.

Mrs. Kroger died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. She was 79.

She was a board member of St. Luke Community Foundation, Covington Ladies Home, Salvation Army of Kenton County, Mental Health Association of Kentucky, Senior Services of Northern Kentucky, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Fort Mitchell Tree Board and Fort Mitchell Garden Club.

She also was a member of the Northern Kentucky Heritage League and Kenton Heights Women's Club.

Haake said her sister was the youngest of six siblings.

"She was our baby, she was spoiled, " Haake said jokingly.

In addition to her involvement with various local organizations, Mrs. Kroger enjoyed attending Fort Mitchell Baptist Church and spending time with her two grandchildren.

"She adored her grandchildren, " Haake said. "She couldn't do enough for them."

In addition to her sister, Mrs. Kroger is survived by her husband, Robert of Fort Mitchell; a son, Mark of Fort Mitchell; a sister, Delores Davis of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Fort Mitchell Baptist Church, 2323 Dixie Highway, Fort Mitchell. The funeral is at 10 a.m. at the church.

Entombment is at Spring Grove Memorial Mausoleum in Cincinnati.

Swinder & Currin Funeral Home in Latonia is handling arrangements.

Lois Martin Allen, 78, of Chapel Hill, N.C., formerly of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday in Chapel Hill.

She was a retired secretary with Equifax in Lexington and Horn, Richardson and Associates. She was a member of Gardenside Christian Church in Lexington, Davie Popular Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and past president of both the Lexington chapters of the American Business Women's Association and Business and Professional Women's Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Kathy Jansen of Chapel Hill; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

Aleene Perkins Earle, 87, of Tamarack, Fla., formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Sunday at University Hospital, Tamarack.

Her husband, Jack Earle, died in 1999. A daughter, J. Gayle Kissinger, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include grandchildren, Leslie Kissinger and Jeffrey Kissinger; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.

Mildred Josephine Kessler Folmer, 94, of Independence, died Tuesday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Her husband, John Folmer, died in 1967.

Survivors include daughters, Judy Heeger of Independence, Millie Schmaide of Morning View and Norma Coots of Independence; a sister, Norma Kuckle of Venice, Fla.; a brother, Edward Kessler of Mesa, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Cecilia Church. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Independence.

Memorials are suggested to St. Cecilia Church, 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, Ky. 41051.

Jack Lynden Gilreath, 62, of Erlanger, died Wednesday at Garden Park Health Care Center, Cincinnati.

Arrangements are pending at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger.

Robert D. Kehoe, 88, of Cincinnati, formerly of Newport, died Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.

He was an employee of Turfway, Keeneland and Churchill Downs horse tracks in Kentucky.

Survivors include a son, Robert D. Kehoe Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Margaret Kehoe of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be in 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Church, Cincinnati. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to Holy Family Church, 814 Hawthorne Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45205.

Meyer & Geiser Funeral Home, Cincinnati, is handling arrangements.

Evelyn Roberta Decker Reinke, 95, of Covington, died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington.

She was a homemaker. Her husband, G. Edward Reinke, died in 1988.

Survivors include daughters, Sister Mary Evelyn Reinke, S.N.D., of Southgate and Pamela Reinke Walter of Plano, Texas; a sister, Edna Decker Garbon of Cincinnati; and a grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Memorials are suggested to Sisters of Notre Dame, 1601 Dixie Highway, Park Hills, Ky. 41011 or to St. Charles Care Center, 500 Farrell Drive, Covington, Ky. 41011.

Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Virginia Mary Schmudde, 92, of Alexandria, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

She was a retired employee of the former L. Trapp and Son Grocery Store in Sun Valley. Her husband, Elmer Schmudde, died in 1968.

Survivors include a son, Elmer James Schmudde of Mays Lick; daughters, Doris Schmudde and Judy D. Schmudde, both of Alexandria; a sister, Martha Steinmann of Fort Thomas; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Edward Scott, 95, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at Grand Haven Nursing Home in Cynthiana. He was a retired farmer. His wife, Roxie Kearns Scott, and a son, Albert Walter Scott, both preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son, Charles Edward Scott of Mays Lick; a daughter, Barbara Ann Kenney of Harrison County; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana.

Jerry Lee Smith, 52, of Fort Mitchell, died Tuesday at his home. He was a teacher and a member of Christ's Chapel Assembly of God, Erlanger.

Survivors include his parents, Jewell and James Gayle Smith of Burlington; and brothers, Carl Smith of Burlington, Don Smith and Ronnie Smith, both of Houston, and Wayne Smith of McDonough, Ga.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Burlington Cemetery.

Sarah Mae Vogt, 57, of Alexandria, died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

She was an employee of Disabled American Veterans, Cold Spring, and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Highland Heights.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Vogt; a daughter, Michele Hardesty of Lexington; a son, Michael Vogt of Alexandria; her mother, Wanda Mae Lickert of Alexandria; a sister, Judy Barton of Wilder; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.
