John Tilford Abner
John Tilford Abner died at the home of his son, Chris Abner, on Hatton Creek, July 30th, after a lingering illness. He was 81 years of age; was a veteran of the Civil War.
Burial in the Hatton Creek grave yard by the side of his wife who died in the year 1916. His children were present at the burial; Sherman Abner, Waltersville, Mrs. Emerine Estes, of near Lancaster, Chris Abner, Hatton Creek, Mrs. Pollie Morton, Hatton Creek and Patsy Abner. He has 31 living grandchildren.

J. W. Abney, Jr., 62, Brookside, passed away Wednesday. He was a native of Watson and lived most of his in Brookside. He was retired from DuPont. Funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Bell Forestdale with burial in Bivens Chapel Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Fuller Abney, 2 sons, John W. Abney, Brevard, NC, and Gerald W. Abney, Gardendale; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Lucille Johnson, Mrs. Cora Mae Rooks, and Mrs. Mildred Elliott, all of Hillview.

Joseph Abney, Jr., 70, of 21 Flanagan St., a retired employee of the L&N; Railroad Co., died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Clark County Hospital after a long illness. A native of Estill County, he was a member of the Franklin Avenue Church of God and was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Tipton Abney Sr. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary E. Dawes Abney; two sons, Joseph Abney, Winchester, and Ishmael Abney, U.S. Air Force, Germany; five daughters, Mrs. May Tapp, Winchester; Mrs. Dorothy Stamper, Fayette County; Mrs. Anita Whitaker, Douglas, Ariz.; Mrs. Mary Richardson, Carlsbad, N.M.; and Mrs. Eunice Renfro, Pinnell, Fla.; a brother, Edgar Abney, Estill County; 3 sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Allen, Louisville; Mrs. Belle Sheffield, Stanton; and Mrs. Martha Holder, Clay City; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Scobee Funeral Home by the Rev. James Chamberlain. Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home where friends may call after 3 p.m. today.
JOSEPH KEEBORTZ
Joseph W. "Buddy" Keebortz, 82, husband of Marilyn Ernestine Reed Keebortz, died Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Ctr. Born March 21, 1923 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Arthur Brown and Matilda Etta (Dennis) Keebortz. He served in the Air Force. He was a retired factory employee and a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church and a former member of the Harrodsburg Lions Club. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include: one sister, Shirley Keebortz, Harrodsburg; and one brother, Eulice W. (Geraldine) Keebortz, Lexington. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, September 23, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Rev. Don Chase. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers will be Tim Ellis, Chad Ellis, Myron Ellis, Michael Keebortz, Douglas Keebortz, Timothy Keebortz, Carey Keebortz and Brad Abney. AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest at Doctors Hospital on November 1, 2003, Mrs. Julie S. Abner, wife of the late Louis E. Abner of Augusta. Mrs. Abner was born in Germany, moving to the Augusta area in 1972. She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include daughter, Mrs. Stella Lazar of North Augusta; grandchildren, Adrianne Price, North Augusta and Kristen Lazar, Augusta; a great-grandchild, Blake Price, North Augusta; brothers, Anton Suess, Georg Suess and Wenzel Suess, all of Germany; son-in-law, Ronnie Lazar, North Augusta; grandson-in-law, Carlton Price, North Augusta. Juanita Rice Abner, 71, of 2434 Ecton Road, widow of J.B. Abner, died at 8:25 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. A native of Clark County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Maudie Rice. She was a homemaker. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lew and Carolyn Abner, Winchester; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Robert and Lisa Abner and Daniel and Brandy Abner, Winchester; four great-grandchildren, Emily Ann Abner, Hannah Brooke Abner, Kirsten Rose Abner and Rachel Nicole Abner, Winchester; a brother, Wesley Rice, a niece, Carolyn Stephens, Winchester, and several additional nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Scobee Funeral Home by Rev. Earl Waugh. Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery. Harlan Abney
Paris, Ky., July 21-Harlan Abney, 41, of Bourbon County, died at 3PM today at the Massie Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Estill County, son of Levi and Rosie Stamper Abney.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jeanette H. Abney; one daughter, Miss Millie Verne Abney, of Benge; one son, James D. Abney, Benge, one sister, Mrs. Hattie Cook, Henry County; four brothers, Robert, Allen, Thomas, and Everett Abney, Bourbon County.
Services will be held at 3PM Saturday in the Paris cemtery. The body is at the Davis Funeral Home.

Daily Democrat, Clinton MO - Harry A. Abney, 89, died March 8, 1995, at the Parsons, Kansas nursing home, where he had resided since January 11, 1993. He suffered a stroke in January 1995. Harry had lived in Parsons, Kansas, for the last 48 years but had relatives living in Henry County. He was born January 5, 1906, in Henry County to Frank W. and Hettie (Nida) Abney. He attended schools near Clinton and Picker, Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school. On February 15, 1924, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served for 30 years. Harry was serving aboard a submarine stationed out of Honolulu when Pearl Harbor was bombed at the start of World War II. He saw heavy action in the Pacific Theater and received many citation and ribbons, obtaining the rank of chief torpedoman before his discharge on March 1, 1954. He was a member of the VFW and the Eagles. He worked at a Parsons Car Agency and lumber yard before retiring. He and his wife, Eva, thoroughly enjoyed their home, gardening and fishing. He and Eva M. (Denton) Prescott were married
September 20, 1948, in Springfield. Wife, Eva, survives but has been bedfast for the past 10 years. Harry faithfully went to visit Eva in the nursing home twice a day. They were haring a room at the time of his death. Other survivors include one stepson, Ralph Prescott; one nephew, Howard Abney, and sister-in-law, Beulah Abney of Clinton. Three brothers, John, Frank and Howard N. preceded Harry in death. Harry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Parsons. Funeral services were March 11 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial was in the Memorial Lawn cemetery with military honors in charge of the Parsons VFW.

MURRIETA ---- Heidi Marie Wigand, 27, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in Fontana. Born April 1, 1977, in La Mesa, she lived in Murrieta for four years. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Wigand is survived by her husband of five years, Dean Wigand of Murrieta; parents Victoria L. and Richard G. Marcrander of San Marcos; son, David Heath Wigand of Murrieta; daughter, Ronni Wigand of Needles; and sisters Beccah Jeanne Abney and Amy Eileen Marcrander, both of San Marcos. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at The Barn at Walnut Grove Park, 1950 Sycamore in San Marcos with the Rev. Bill Farrel officiating. Helen ABNER, - On Friday, June 9, 2006, of East Orange, beloved mother of Bernice Mathis (Troy), Miriam Dubose, Theodore Abner Jr. and the late Roland Abner (Millicent). She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Hester Mae Abney Logdon, 70, Haley Road, Lexington, widow of James Lee Logdon, died Monday, April 2, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital after a short illness. She was born Oct. 25, 1936 in Estill County, a daughter of the late Robert and Edith Sons Abney. She was a retired home health nurse.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Taulbee of Lexington; three brothers, Charles and Robert Abney, both of Lexington and David Abney of Beattyville; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Home by Pastor William Brown with burial at Sonny Powell Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Abney, Michael Abney, Russell Jolly, Ben Beamon, Larry Reed Sr. and Larry Reed Jr.

A. Edward Abney age 62 died Monday July 5, 2004 from cancer at his home. He is survived by his wife Martha H. Abney of Berea, and a daughter Tracy Elaine Abney of Erlanger, KY. He is also survived by one sister Betty (JC Jr.) Burnell of Berea. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Clara Hudson Abney, and parents-in-law Benn and Berta Hornbeck. Mr. Abney was a life long resident of Berea and was the retired Chief of the Army Radiation Dosimetry Center. Private funeral services will be later this week. Pallbearers are Gerald Burnell, Kevin Burnell, Charlie Spangler, Maurice Davidson, Steve Slaughter and Kevin Hash.
