Charles Michael Abney
Charles Michael Abney, 48, of Louisville, formerly of Grant County, died Tuesday at his home.
He was a welder.
Survivors include his father, Charles Abney of Dry Ridge; brothers, Larry Abney, Harold Abney and Bill Abney, all of Crittenden, and Jerry Abney of Erlanger; and sisters, Phyllis Kindoll, Marilyn Coleson and Michelle Kindoll, all of Crittenden, and Pamela Abney of Erlanger.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will begin there at noon.
Charles R. Abney
Charles R. Abney, 69, who was retired from the Leon County Tax Collector's office, died Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Big Bend Hospice House. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Abney. The service will be at 11 a.m. EDT Monday at Hayden Road Assembly of God Church in Tallahassee, with burial at Hillcrest cemetery in Quincy. Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. EDT today at Bevis Funeral Home of Tallahassee (850-385-2193). Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. A native of Quincy, he had lived in Tallahassee since 1960. He was actively involved in coaching youth baseball for many years and he also enjoyed officiating high school and college football and basketball for 25 years. He was a member of Hayden Road Assembly of God Church in Tallahassee and was formerly a member of First Assembly of God Church in Quincy. Other survivors include a son, Sterling R. Abney (and wife Carey) of Tallahassee; two daughters, Lisa Abney and Tammy Agee (and husband Larry), both of Tallahassee; a sister, Jennie Batts of Monticello; a brother, James Abney of Abbeville, Ala.; three grandchildren, Ashley, Christina and Zachary; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Wilda Abney and a brother, Melvin.

Charles Abner
Winchester, Ky., June 19.
Three persons are dead and or probably fatally wounded as a result of gun battles in Clark County within the past 24 hours.
Two of them, Charles Abner, 2? years old, railroad employee, and Mrs. Lucy Webster, 27 years old, wife of Ben Webster, both of Winchester were killed this afternoon in a pistol battle in which five persons figured ________.
Virgil Parker, 37 years old, a farmer living about five miles from Winchester on Ironworks Pike was killed late Saturday night at his home by his stepdaughter after he had fired several shots from his pistol and threatened the lives of members of the family.
James Palmer, 35 years old, railroad employee, his father, Austin Palmer, and Abner drove to the home of R. L. Loving, on Melbourne Avenue, police said. Mrs. Webster, who is the daughter of Mr. Loving, came to the door and called her father to the porch.
Upon being ordered by Loving not to come in, James Palmer fired at them with a .38 calibre pistol, his first shot taking effect at the base of Mrs. Webster's brain. Loving returned fire and Abner slumped down in his seat in the automobile, fatally wounded. James Palmer received a serious wound in his side from the pistol of Loving.
The men who survived the fight were arrested by Cheif Bush and Patrolmen Tharpe and Davis. James Palmer is charged with the murder of Mrs. Webster, Loving is charged with the murder of Charles Abner, and Austin Palmer was first charged with carrying concealed deadly weapon but was later arrested on addition charge of malicous shooting without wounding. He was released on bond.

Charley (Peabody) Abney
BURKESVILLE � Charley (Peabody) Abney died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at the Cumberland County Hospital. He ws a son of Jessie and Clarice Ballard Abney and husband of Shirley Sue Thacker Abney.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, Summer Shade, with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Charley Sherman Abney
Charles Sherman Abney, son of the late James and Eliza Key Abney, was born August 2, 1898 and passed away February 18, 1974 at his son's home in Bismark, at the age of 76 years, six months and 16 days.
He was united in marriage to Lucy Crocker, and to this union eight children were born, seven of whom survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Amos in 1956.
Surviving are four daughters; Bessie (Mrs. Lawrence) Hammers of Doe Run; Nola (Mrs. Bob) Ervens of Elvins; Myrine (Mrs. Willard) Hammond of Farmington; and Marie (Mrs. Lumes) Turner of Bixby; three sons; Maynard Junior Abney of Bismark; Freddie Abney and Lovell Abney, both of Doe Run; 53 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers; Porter Abney of Salem and Newton Abney of St. Louis; and a sister Bessie of St. Louis. The Cozean Funeral Home moved the body to the Spencer Funeral Home in Viburnum, on Thursday morning.
Funeral services will be held today (Friday), Feb 22 at 1PM, at the Spencer Funeral Home with the Rev Raymond Parker officiating. Interment will be held in the Neals Creek cemetery under the direction of the Spencer Funeral Home.
Clayton A. Abney
Clayton Astor Abney, 81, of Macon Ga., widower of Ethel Walters Abney, died at 5:25 amm Friday in Macon. A native of Clark County, he was the son of the late Pearl and Elizabeth Estes Abney. He was a retired employee of Leggett & Platt Inc. a verteran of World War II and a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include tow daughters, Mrs. Ray (Jean) Windburn and Mrs. Kermit (Delores) Tapp, Winchester; five sons, Dallas A. Abney, Ford; Shelby Abney, Dayton Ohio; Phillip Abney, Social Circle, Ga; Steve Abney, Fort Branch, Indiana, and Larry D. Abney, Mosinee, Wis, ; several grandchildren, and a sister, Geneva Metcalf, Manchester.
Services will be conducted at 10 am Monday at the Meadows Funeral Home, Monroe Ga. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Graveside funeral services for Clarence Allan Martin, Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2006 at Pines Memorial Gardens cemetery in Ruston with Rev. Fred Wideman officiating.
Col. Martin was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a Colonel in the United States Air Force for 30 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill Martin and Joe Martin.
He is survived by his spouse Betty Ruth Barnes Martin of Ruston; two daughters, Lynne Abney O'Neal and husband Dan of Choudrant and Elizabeth Schumpert Hays and husband Mike of Arcadia; one son, Clarence A. "Hap" Martin III and wife Diane of Monroe; one sister, Marjorie Stilley of Dallas, Texas; one granddaughter, Heather Abney Chambliss of Southaven, Miss.; four grandsons, Daniel Eldon O'Neal IV, Adam Martin O'Neal both of Choudrant, Clarence A. Martin IV and Wesley Walker Martin both of Monroe; and a great granddaughter, Karis Ruth Chambliss of Southaven, Miss.
Pallbearers will be Clarence A. Martin IV, Wesley Walker Martin, Daniel Eldon O'Neal IV, Adam Martin O'Neal, Daniel E. O'Neal III and James Michael Hays.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Maj. Gen (USAF Ret.) W.C. Lindley, Jr., W.A. Jones, C.A. Reed, Jr., Frank Baxter, G.W. James, Jr., Daniel E. O'Neal, Jr., J.M. Armstrong, Jr. and Lt. Gen. Wally Moorehead.
Memorials may be made to Louisiana Methodist Children's Home.
Clayton Abney, Sr.
Clayton Abney, Sr. 64, of Winston, a former resident of Clark County, died at 3:55 p, Wednesday after a long illness.
A retired machinsts helper for the L&N; Railroad, he was a native of Lee County, and a member of the Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Geneva Johnson Abney.
