Ralph Weiskittel, 80, editor, real estate agent

Mr. Weiskittel, 80, of Fort Wright, who died Wednesday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington, grew up in Cincinnati, where he graduated from Elder High School in 1942.
After graduation, he served as a paratrooper during World War II, and made many jumps in the European theater, said his wife, Audrey Weiskittel.
Soon after they married
in 1948, they moved to Fort Wright, and joined St. Agnes Parish, where they would attend for the rest of his life. Mr. Weiskittel would go on to serve on the parish council and on the advisory council to the bishop of Covington.
After his military service, he worked 34 years for the Cincinnati Enquirer, where he would eventually become business editor.
The Weiskittels had a long family tradition of working for the newspaper, a tradition that stretched back into the 19th century. Mr. Weiskittel's father and his uncles had all worked for the newspaper, most of them helping to keep the presses running, his wife said.
Mr. Weiskittel retired from the Enquirer in 1977 to become a vice president of the Koetzle Corp. He later worked for Jerry Devitt & Associates Realtors, part of a second career as a real estate broker that ended only with his retirement in January.
"He decided to try and do what he had written about for so many years, " his wife said.
