James R. Gray, headed NKU grad program
James R. Gray was a driving force in establishing a master's degree program in technology at Northern Kentucky University.
During his 26 years at NKU, Gray taught a host of industrial manufacturing subjects and eventually became director of the Master of Science in Technology program.
"He recognized that there were a lot of people in the community that had their bachelor's but needed to go on and have a master's in technology, " his wife Mary E. Gray said.

Outside of NKU, Gray combined his love for teaching and outdoor activities by becoming active in Boy Scout Troop 845 and the Dan Beard Council.
His real passion, though, was boating for pleasure on the Ohio River with his family, his wife said.
For the past 15 years, Gray enjoyed spending weekends between May and October cruising up and down the river on their boat, "Family Affair."
"His family and his children and myself, we were the most important thing to him, " she said. "This was a way that we could spend summers and the weekend together as a family."
