Augusta G. Norris

Augusta Gongetter Norris, 65, of 113 Estelle Road, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, at 11:30 a.m. at her home. Widow of Thomas C. Norris, she was born in Cherokee County, a daughter of the late Beadie Jefferies Littlejohn and the late John Devine Littlejohn. She was a 1956 graduate of Granard High School and received a B.S. degree in nursing from Gardner-Webb College. She was a retired nurse and had been head nurse at Upstate Carolina Medical Center, nursing supervisor at Brookview HealthCare Center, and a volunteer nurse at Bethel Senior Day Care Center. Mrs. Norris was a member of Limestone Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Mixed Choir. She was a member of Whitaker Chapter No. 127, Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are two sons, Steven Carlos Norris of Gaffney and Travis Norris of the home; a daughter, Thomasina Norris Goodgame of Atlanta; a sister, Annie L. Abney of Aiken; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Edward Littlejohn, and a sister, Artrice Littlejohn. Services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Limestone Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Arthur J. Smith. Burial will be in Gaffney Memorial Park. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. at The Gilmore Mortuary.
W. Abney
W.B. (Burl) Abney of Flat River was born Feb. 28, 1898 in Courtois, a son of the late James Calvin Abney and Annie Casebolt Abney, and died August 30 at Bonne Terre Hospital at the age of 72 years, six months and two days.
Surviving are: one son Jeffrey Abney of the home; one daughter Leanna (Mrs. Wilbert Miller) of Fenton; two step-sons, Ladon Becker of Belleville, ILL. And Dennis Becker of Mehlville; six brothers, Harrison Abney, Rome Abney, Bert Abney, Earl Abney, Bill Abney and Ralph Abney; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elmarie Morris Abney and one sister.
He was a member of the Supreme Lodge Knights of Pythias 386059.
Chapel services will be Wednesday at 2PM with the Rev. Harold Brown officiating. Interment will be in Three Rivers Cemetery.
The body is in the state at C. Z. Boyer and Sons Chapel in Desloge.

Geneva Lucas Abney
Geneva Francis Lucas Abner, 86, of 3299 Old Highway 90, Bronston, widow of James Bethel Abner, died Monday at her home, A native of Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Lillie Parsons Lucas. She was a homemaker, and a member of the First Church of God here.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William F. and Alice Abner, Brontson; two granddaughters, Linda Bastin, Somersetm and Lavenna Phelps of Science Hill; two step-grandchildren, Susan McLean, Lexington, and Stephen McLean, Bronston; four great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Services will be conducted at 1pm Thursdya at the Newman Funeral Home Chapel, Beattyville. Burial will be in the Abner cemetery in Primrose, Lee County, Kentucky Friends may call 6-9 pm Wednesday.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to a favorite charity.

Funeral services were held at Cob Hill Christian church at 1:00PM Tuesday, conducted by Rev. George W. Hall. Burial was in the church cemetery.
