Winnora Ely, led Girl Scouts for 30 years
Winnora "Winnie" Ely blended an active lifestyle with a gracious manner.
She helped operate a motel and apartment building, led Girl Scouts, visited all 50 state capitals and participated in church events.
Through it all, she was courteous and a joy to be around.
"The comment we heard the most from people is that, 'She was always so much a lady, ' " said Mrs. Ely's daughter, Judi Deatherage of Villa Hills. "She had a sweet personality."
Mrs. Ely, 94, of Florence, died Friday at Florence Park Care Center.
She was the owner-operator of Ely's Apartments and a Girl Scout leader for 30 years, being honored as leader emeritus of the Licking Valley Girl Scouts Council.

She received a proclamation from then-Florence Mayor Evelyn Kalb on Nov. 24, 1995, declaring that day as "Winnora Ely Day."
Mrs. Ely and her husband of 56 years, the late G.C. Ely, built the Dixie Motor Court just south of Florence on U.S. 25 in 1948 and operated it as a motel until Interstate 75 was built and took much of the motel traffic away. It was then converted to apartments.
She enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader.
"Scouting was very much a part of her life, " said her daughter. "She loved children and always liked to be around people."
Mrs. Ely loved to travel, and she and her husband made it a point to visit all 50 state capitals. They also traveled overseas.
"One time they flew to London on the Concorde and came back on the Queen Elizabeth II ship, " said her daughter. "My favorite picture of her is when she rode a camel at age 72 in Israel.
"She always said she had no regrets. She lived a great life and touched and influenced a lot of people."
