Tom Ward, witty, loving family man
Tom Ward had a keen sense of humor that appealed to his many friends and relatives.
"He was very, very witty and got along with everybody, " said Mr. Ward's sister, Jobie Dreyer of Latonia.
"He was a loving family man with lots of friends."
Mr. Ward, 67, of Latonia, died Wednesday at his daughter's residence in Independence.
He was a retired truck driver with Rocket Transportation in Cincinnati, where he worked for more than 27 years.
Mr. Ward was a member of Teamsters Local 100 in Cincinnati.
He belonged to Covington Turner's, a sports association that sponsored athletic teams for youngsters.
After Mr. Ward graduated from Covington Holmes High School in 1956, he served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Ward was an excellent athlete and enjoyed playing baseball and basketball in church leagues. He also was a golfer.
He enjoyed spending a lot of time with his family.
"He was a very loving and caring father and grandfather, " said Mrs. Dreyer.
Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Duncan Ward, in 1977; his brother, Michael Ward, in 1971, and a sister, Linda McEntyre, in 1987.
Other survivors include his mother, Juanita Baker Ward of Latonia; daughters, Tammie Little of Highland Heights and Tracie Roberts of Independence, and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home in Latonia.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Highland cemetery in Fort Mitchell.

Franklin Culbertson, 74, of Moreno Valley, Calif., formerly of Kenton County, died Monday in Moreno Valley.
He was owner of Valley Party Equipment and Rentals, Moreno Valley, and an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
His wife, Margaret Shirilla Culbertson, died in 2000.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Clark of Riverside, Calif.; a brother, Foster "Al" Culbertson of Tallahassee, Fla.; sisters, June Williams of Dauphin Island, Ala., and Ann Hicks of Tallahassee; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Crossword Christian Church, Moreno Valley.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Miller-Jones Funeral Home, Moreno Valley.
Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside.
Gayla M. Fasig, 95, of Latonia, died at 3:54 p.m. Wednesday at Rosedale Manor Nursing Home, Latonia.
She was a retired secretary with McDermott International Inc., Cincinnati.
Survivors include a nephew, Edward Fasig of the state of California.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
Burial will be in Dayton, Ohio, Memorial Park.

Dolores Matisz, 77, of Villa Hills, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Patricia Ann Nicholson, 78, of Bellevue, died Wednesday at Eastgate Health Care Center, Cincinnati.
She was a retired nurse with St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington, and a member of St. Anthony Church, Bellevue.
Her husband, Carl Nicholson, died in 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Carla Nicholson of Alexandria; a sister, Peggy Shafstall of Hudson, Fla.; and a brother, Daniel Stenger of Cold Spring.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Divine Mercy Church, Bellevue.
Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Robert Glenn Scott, 65, of Glencoe, died Wednesday at University Medical Center, Lexington.
He was a retired carpenter and farmer, a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church in Glencoe and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Ardith Bates Scott; sons, Andrew Lee Scott of Louisville and Robert Wesley Scott of Sparta; a sister, Mary Lou Fountain of Walton; brothers, Randolph Scott of Florence, Sedric Scott and Vernon Scott, both of Grant County; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Napoleon Cemetery, Gallatin County.

Mary Ann Seay Stewart, 66, of Ghent, died Wednesday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton.
She was a homemaker and a member of Sanders Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bradley "Rabbit" Stewart; sons, Jeff Stewart and Jon Stewart, both of Sanders, and Jeremy Stewart of Ghent; a daughter, Melody Welsh of Dayton, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery.
