Frank J. Abner
Frank J. Abner, 60 of Bee Spring, a native of Irvine, died Wednesday at Veterans Administration Hospital, Lexingotn, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident approximately three weeks ago.
A veteran of World War II, he owned and operated the Abner General Store, and was a member of Leitchfield Masonic Lodge No. 236, F&AM, and Hubs Field Apostolic Church. Survivors include his widow, Teresa Abner: five sons, Billy Abner, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, James E. Abner, Paul D. Abner, and David L. Abner, all of Lexington; a stepson, John Geary, Leitcherfield; six stepdaughters, Joyce Griffith, Geneva Saleh, Sue Drake and Linda White, all of Lexington and Mary Ann Geary and Theresa Logstn both of Leitchfield: his mother Druscilla Carmicheal, leitchfield, two brothers, Harold Abner and JW Abner, both of Winchester, and two sisters, Cella Mae Carmicheal and Odella Mae Abner both of Winchester. Services will be conducted at 2pm Saturday at the Hus Field Apostolic Church, Brownsville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be after 3pm today at the Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville.
Freda M. Abney
Freda M. Abney (nee Hambrick), beloved wife of Farrell B. Abney, devoted mother of Lina Ammon, Diane Webster, John and Scott Abney, loving daughter of Grace Veresh, also survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Wednesday, March 13, 1991. Fredia Poole, 82, Adrian Fredia Roberta Abney Poole of Adrian died Monday, April 4. She was 82. Services: Wednesday, April 6, at 3 p.m. with Revs. Morris Brantley, Jesse Yawn and Kevin Farmer officiating. Burial: Holton Chapel cemetery in Treutlen County. Fred Abney
Fred Abney of Iron Mountain died Jan. 2, 1995, at his home. He was born June 4, 1936, at Bixby, the son of the late Charles and Lucille Crocker Abney. He was also preceded in death by his step - father, Ben Cowley, and by one brother, Amos Abney and three sisters, Marie Turner, Mayrene Hammond, and Bessie Hammers. He was 59 years old.
He is survived by one son, Daniel Abney of Paradise, Texas; and by three daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Terry) Sterns of Sanger, Texas, Leisa (Mrs. Floyd) French of Fredericktown, and Tamela (Mrs. Lloyd) Clayton of Bridgeport, Texas; two brothers, Lovell Abney of Desloge and Maynard Abney of Fredericktown, and by one sister, Nola (Mrs. Robert) Ervin of Farmington; 14 grandchildren and six great - grandchildren.
Friends called at the Cozean Funeral Home after 5 PM on Tuesday, Jan 3. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan 4. at 2 PM at the Cozean Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ronald Lee Hammon officiating. Burial followed at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Fred Farthing
Fred Dudley Farthing, 78, Dug Hill Road, Irvine, husband of Vernetta Jane Abner Farthing, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in Claremont, N.C., after a short illness. He was born July 17, 1928 in Estill County, a son of the late Dudley and Anna Donahue Farthing. He was a member of the Church of God, U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and a retired employee of the Richmond Bluegrass Army Depot.
Survivors include his wife, Vernetta Jane Farthing; three daughters, Carolyn Rhoton of Claremont, N.C., Judy Spicer and Anita Wallace, both of Irvine; two sons, Bobby Ray Farthing of Claremont, N.C. and Freddie Wayne Farthing of McKee; one sister, Virginia Lee Cole of Mich.; two brothers, Raymond Farthing of California and Oliver Phoenix of Utah; 19 grandchildren and several great - grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Home by Rev. Jerry Rose with burial at Oakdale Cemetery.
His grandsons served as pallbearers.
Freddie Leon Abney
Leadington - Freddie Leon Abney, 70, of Leadington passed away July 31, 2001, at his residence. He was born Jan 2, 1931, in Crawford County, son of the late Harrison and Hattie Johnston Abney.
Surviving are two sons, Freddie Leon Abney, Jr. of Jefferson City and Jessie Nathan Abney of Park Hills; one daughter, Mary Lynn Beers and her husband, Ray of Viburnum; one grandson, Scott Beers of United States Military; a very special friend, Linda Bell of Park Hills; two sisters, Dollie Furry of Park Hills, and Helen Furry of Chico, Ca; one brother, John Abney and his wife Eulah of St. Louis; special friends: Helen Trokey, Ladonna, Sarah and Kristy Bales, Keith Laws and Darryl Laws; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation was at the Caldwell Funeral Home in Park Hills. Services were Thursday at 11 AM at the Caldwell Memorial Chapel with Evangelist Bernie Crum officiating. Interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Leadington.
Edgar M. Abney
Edgar M. Abney, 78, of 141 N. C. St., Hamilton, Ohio, and a former resident of Clark County, died at 8:10 am Saturday at the Fort Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio, after a short illness.
He was a native of Estill County, a son of the late Edgar Pearl and Sally Long Abney, a retired Hamilton Board of Education Employee and a member of the Church of Chirst in Mason, Ohio.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eva Estes Abney; three sons, Robert A. Abney, Winchester; Shirley O. Abney, Hamilton Ohio, and Hobert M. Abney, Simi Valley, California; three daughters, Mrs. Earl W. (Orene) Stone, Winchester; Mrs. Dorothy Slafter and Miss Jean Abney, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; two half - brohters, Clayton A. Abney of Georgia and Howard Abney of Ohio; a half sister, Mrs. Blev Metcalf, Clay County, 12 grandchildren and three great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am Tuesday at the Scobee Funeral Home by the Rev. B. L. Richardson and the Rev. James Cooper. Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Stone, Henry Casteel, Randall Estes, John Estes, Henry c. Neal and Darrell Metcalf.
Friends may call at the funeral home 4 - 8 pm today.

Funeral services for E. P. Abney, 79, retired L & N Railroad watchman, were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Scobee Funeral Home by the Rev. B. L. Cox, pastor of Fairfax Church of Christ. Burial was in the Winchester Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert A. Abney, Shirley Abney, Hobert M. Abney, Randall Estes, Leon Chamberlain and Wayne Stone. Mr. Abney, a native of Estill County, died at 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the Clark County Hospital, following a long illness. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Sanford and Martha Tipton Abney. Survivors include five sons, Hobert Abney, Phoenix, Ariz.; Edgar Abney, Hamilton, Ohio; Austin and Howard Abney, Cincinnati, and Aster Abney, Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Estes, Winchester, and Mrs. Geneva Metcalf, Clay County; two brothers, Joe Abney, Powell County, and Green Abney, Peebles, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. L. P. Hamilton, Richmond, and several grandchildren and great - grandchildren.

Edith Abney Finney, 84, Winchester Health Care Center, widow of Pearl Abney and Paris Finney, died at 4:30AM today at the Clark Regional Medical Center.
A native of Wolfe County, she was the daughter of the late C. C. and Cynthia Ann Woodard Drake. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ruckerville Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. William (Evadna) Wilcox, Clark County; a stepson, Ray Finney, Lockport; six grandchildren, Larry Abney, Titusville, Fla.; Linda Saylor, Lexington; Danny Abney, Billy Ray Wilcox and Ronnie and Terry Wilcox, Winchester; 11 great - grandchildren, three - half brothers, Woodford Drake, Winchester; Clayton Drake, Wilmore, and Roscoe Drake, Lexington.
Services will be ocnducted at 10Am Thursday at the Scobee Funeral Home by the William Keller. Burial will be in the WInchester Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Shepard, Ivan Psimer, Ellis Abner, Roy Drake, Wayne Shepard and Charles Saylor; honorary, Dr. Thomas Burchett, Dr. William Davis, Billy Ray Wilcox, Ronnie and Terry Wilcox, Jeff Saylor, Chuck Saylor, Danny Abney II and Clyde Abney.

Elizabeth Abney
Elizabeth Abney, 86, of Dade City, died Saturday, August 16, 2003 at Hernando - Pasco Hospice Care Center. She moved here in 1938 from her native New York. She was a homemaker and a member of Fort Dade Bapti st Church. Survivors include four children, Oliver B. Abney, Jr., Bobby E. Abney and Mabel Woodbury, all of Dade City and Richard "Bo" Abney of Brooksville; four brothers, Howard Simmons of Connecticut, Gene and Richard Simmons of New York and Eddie Simmons of Dade City; 14 grandchildren; 21 great - grand - children; and three great - great - grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Fort Dade Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 with Pastor Stephen Walding officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home form 6 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday (Today), August 18, 2003.

Ellen Oliver Abner
Ellen Oliver Abner, 87, of 304 Bowling Road, Waynesboro, mother of Grace Wood, Winchester, died at 5:30pm Saturday at the Clark Regional Medical Center. A native of Leslie County, she was the daughter of the late J. C. and Maranda Lovings Oliver. She was a member of the Parlor Grove Baptist Church in Lincoln County. Additional survivors include her husband, Britton Abner, two other daughters, Audrey Bowling, Oxford Ohio, and Lillian Harron, College Corner, Ohio, two sons, Ambrose Bowling, Dalton, Ga., and Harold Bowling, Carlise, Ohio; three grand daughters, Debbie Bowman, Krista Bowling, and Patricia Swanger; five grandsons, Stanley and Parrett Bowling and Ryan, Larry and Leslie wood, and five great grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2pm Tuesday at the Parlor Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Mr. Hill. Burial will be in the Parlor Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11am Tuesday at the church. Edgington Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ellison Abney. Sr.
Ellison Abney, Sr., of Potosi, passed away November 1, 1993, in Georgian Gardens Nursing Home, Potosi, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 13 days. He was born December 19, 1909, in Glasgow, Kentucky to the late Walter and Bertha (Huff) Abney. He was united in marriage to Iva Louise Frazier November 17, 1930, at Goodwater, Missouri, and four children were born to this union. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one grandson, Robert Payne, Jr.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving and devoted wife, Iva Abney of Potosi; two sons, Robert Abney of Potosi and Ellison Abney, Jr. and his wife Tommy Jo of Festus; two daughters, Deloris Welker and husband, Gary of Arnold and Bertha Faries and husband Don of Arnold; one brother, Smith Abney and wife Hallie of Steelville; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted 10:30A.M. Wednesday, November 3, at Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Herbert Wiley officiating. Interment was in Lower Indian Creek cemetery at Viburnum, under the direction of the Britton Bros Funeral Home of Potosi. Serving as pallbearers were: James House, Mark Abney, Brad Turner, Mike Barr, Jay Barr, and Pete McCue.
Elmarie Morris Abney
Elmarie Abney of 219 Houser, Flat River, was born January 20, 1917 in Elvins the daughter of the late Sam and Ida Womack Morris.
Surviving are her husband, W. B. Abney and the following children, Ladon Becker of Belleville, ILL., Dennis Becker of St Louis County, Leanna Abney at home, and Jeffrey Abney at home; and two sisters; Mrs. Lillian Cupp of Memphis Tenn., and Octavia Cremer of Brea, California. She was preceded in death by one brother, Earl J. Morris of Esther.
Chapel services will be conducted Thursday, May 16, at 2:30PM with the Rev Robert Fowler officiating. Interment will be in Three Rivers cemetery under the direction of the C. Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Service of Desloge.
