Seamstress Hazel Gramer owned dry cleaner, worked at Beverly Hills
Hazel M. Gramer learned to sew as an orphan at St. Joseph Orphanage in Monfort Heights, Ohio.
For another 80 years, she never stopped clothing family and friends using her considerable talents.
"She sewed for everybody -- friends family, whoever, " said her son Jim Gramer, of Fort Thomas. "You couldn't find anybody more generous than she was."
Mrs. Gramer, 93, died Tuesday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home in Fort Thomas.
Mrs. Gramer sewed for a living as well as for family and friends. At the Beverly Hills Supper Club in Southgate, she helped make the show go on.
"She made costumes for the show girls. She enjoyed sewing anything, " Mr. Gramer said.
She was also a seamstress at Atlas Dry Cleaners, Hart Dry Cleaners and Shillito's department store before owning and operating Eighth Street Dry Cleaners.
Mrs. Gramer volunteered at St. Luke Hospital in Fort Thomas.
Her giving spirit was evident throughout her life. A year after her son Gerald Gramer died in a car accident, she took in his four children and raised them.
"She was glad to do it. She looked forward to it, " Jim Gramer said.
The family remained close throughout the years, enjoying Sunday dinners on a regular basis.
"I don't think there was anybody who ever met her who didn't like her. She was liked by everybody as far as I know, and she made friends easily, " Mr. Gramer said.
Mrs. Gramer is also survived by her daughter Mary Wahoff of Cincinnati, nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Her husband Norbert J. Gramer preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home in Bellevue. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Divine Mercy Parish in Bellevue, officiated by the Rev. William Poole.
Burial is at St. Stephen Cemetery. No memorial was suggested.
William Thomas Cook, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired employee of the Ladish Co., owner of Cook Trucking Co. and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Lake Miner Cook; sons, William Thomas Cook II of Louisville and Guy R. Cook of Harrison County; daughters, Annie Laurie Cook and Mindy Miner Cook, both of Bourbon County, and Jenny Lake Smallridge of New Vienna, Ohio; a sister, Johnnie Louise Arnold of Cynthiana; three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cook Family Cemetery, Bourbon County. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 508 E. Pike St., Cynthiana, Ky. 41031; or University of Kentucky Medical Center Neonatal Unit, 800 Rose St., Lexington, Ky. 40536.
Charles Feldhaus, 98, of Williamstown, died Friday at Grant Manor Nursing Home in Williamstown. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include a son, Paul Earl Feldhaus of Tacoma, Wash.; daughters, Janet Kruntz of Bedford, Violet Rice of Newport and Jackie Winscher of Covington; a brother, William Feldhaus of Maysville; a sister, Midge Setters of Covington; 45 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be the convenience of the family. Burial will be in East Bend Cemetery, Boone County. Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Cincinnati, is handling arrangements.
Lenora Frances Kennedy, 98, of Bellevue, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of Divine Mercy Church, Bellevue. She was a member of the church's ladies auxiliary. Her husband, Charles George Kennedy, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Laurita Andwan and Mary Moore, both of Cincinnati; a son, Robert Kennedy of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Norma Laible of Cold Spring; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was this morning at Divine Mercy Church. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075. A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, is handling arrangements.
Marjorie Lee Schlake Keim, 63, of Covington, died Dec. 18 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a retired accounts payable manager with Columbia Sussex Corp.
Survivors include sons, David Munday of Florence and Steven Munday of Madisonville; her mother, Thelma Keim of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sisters, Carolyn Prigge of Idaho Falls and Shirley Kowdley of San Jose, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Unitarian Church, Cincinnati. Robert L. Laws, 73, of Whitwell, Tenn., formerly of Fort Thomas, died Tuesday at North Valley Medical Plaza in Tennessee. He was a brick mason and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Marcy Laws; a daughter, Debbie Chenot of Bellevue; a son, Robert Peters of Cincinnati; a brother, Charles Laws of Cincinnati; a sister, Dorothy Daughtery of Greenville, Tenn.; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will begin there at 8:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Carol Lynn McCowan, of Beckley, W.Va., died Dec. 19 in Beckley.
Survivors include daughters, Danielle McCowan and Angel McCowan, both of Florence; a son, Nathaniel McCowan of Bromley; a brother, Clayton McCowan of Dry Ridge; a sister, Brenda Adams of Bromley; and a grandson.
Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Heritage Fellowship, Florence. Burial will be in Kiser Cemetery, Coeburn, Va. Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, is handling arrangements.
D.H. Moore Jr., 50, of Corinth, died Wednesday in Sadieville.
Arrangements are pending at McDaniel Funeral Home, Corinth.
Mary C. Rust, 80, of Elsmere, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
She was a homemaker. Her husband, Wilbert Rust, died in 1999.
Survivors include sons, William Rust of Crittenden and Mike Rust of Florence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary cemetery Chapel, Fort Mitchell.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Harold John Wehrle, 80, of Bellevue, died at 3:53 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
He was a retired salesman with Meyer's Tire Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Holy Spirit Church, Newport.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Williams; a daughter, Janet Miller of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Church.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.
