June Walsh, trusted friend
June Virginia Arnold Walsh always made sure she looked neat and proper for visitors, even wearing eyeliner at age 76.
She couldn't get out much on her own, but her good friend, Mary Smith-Reed, said she would buy a new outfit through mail order catalogues for every holiday or special occasion.
Guests had to call before dropping by so she could get ready for them.
"She always kept herself nice, " Smith-Reed said.
Ms. Walsh, 76, of Highland Heights, died Nov. 26 at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.
A homemaker, she enjoyed attending Glad Tidings Temple, which formerly operated in Bellevue but currently holds services in Christian Tabernacle Church in Newport.
Smith-Reed said she met Ms. Walsh in 1983 at the church.
The two would have lunch or coffee after services.
Ms. Walsh also enjoyed getting ice cream from Schneider's Homemade Candies in Bellevue and then walking down to gaze at the Ohio River.
She also was a connoisseur of exotic foods, Smith-Reed said.
"When she would go to the grocery store it would take her like three hours, " she said.
"She would buy all these exotic things that nobody had ever heard of."
